Whitewashing the 10 Commandments

However I have a feeling that even if she were coal black, that they still would have cast someone lighter.

The darkness of the people from the Bible is a hot debate. Depicting Black people can be interpreted as a political statement, which might not be so good for ratings.

A Scotsman is much less contentious, as evidenced by the new Moses.

The Scot doesn't look too bad, though. But it's easy to take a step up when the base is Heston.

All the same, I wanna watch the movie.

I saw some Middle Eastern names on the cast list.

I like that, although it has to be said that it would have been better if they had people from the geographic areas the Bible is set in as the leads instead of brownfacing it.

I thought about that too. I guess ABC must've broke the tape of the Charleton Heston version. But how do they remake it? By getting Latin/Middle Eastern looking actors instead just white actors in black wigs. And Moses still have blue eyes.

At least there were SOME black folks in the Heston version. Although, they were put in the movie for a few seconds as they were en route to the Exodus, in an afterthought move (like someone in the Hollywood just said "Hey isn't Egypt in Africa?").

Whitewashing the bible and bibical figures has been going on for a long time, except now, they have gone from using fair skinned caucasians to accepting middle eastern, hispanic, and mediteranean looking people. IMO until black skinned biblical figures dominate in the mix, the truth has not been told.

Zipporah was an Ethiopian....a Cushite woman. Nothing Spanish about that. Her father Jethro was also....well....Ethiopian. Yet, instead of getting a black woman, they went and got a Spanish one. That's a slap in the collective faces of black people.

It is so sad that even many white so called "theologians" are STILL trying to write black people out of the Bible.

It has been PROVEN that Egyptians were black. Yet, when you look at these doggone movies, how many black Egyptians do you see?? Let me go a step further. How could the ancient Hebrews be white?? Moses was a Hebrew....and grew up in the pharoah's house....as a baby up until his adulthood. How could he(Moses) live in the house of a pharoah....a pharoah who ordered the mass killing of all Hebrew infant males if Hebrews were white and Egyptians were black???? How could a white kid "sneak by" a black pharoah??? Now either the Egyptians and the Hebrews were all white or the Egyptians and the Hebrews were all black. Again, it has been PROVEN that the Egptians were black, so someone is LYING!!!!

It's very important for black folk to know that we played a major role in God's redemptive plan. Check this out. When you look at the family history of Jesus in the Bible, it doesn't deal with His paternal side because we all know that God in heaven is His father. It deals with his maternal side. That maternal side is of Hamitic(black) origin. Yep....it was a mixture of races back then.....especially that of Hamitic/Semitic origins and whatnot. But many on Jesus' maternal side were indeed Hamitic. For example, Rahab and Tamar were Canaanites. Canaanites were from Canaan, the son of Ham...where black folk came from after the flood. Remember Bethsheba?? She was the wife of Uriah the Hittite....you know...the dude David had killed so he could conceal the pregancy of his adulturous liason with Bethsheba. Hittites were black. Well, Bethsheba lost the baby. David was upset and asked God to forgive him, which He did. David and Bethsheba had another child. His name......Solomon. Remember, all of these folk are in the maternal line of Jesus. Strong black ancestry. But if you listened to the Euro-centric version, well....you know.

Hey, Apostle Paul was mistaken for an Egyptian terrorist.(Acts 21:38) Now how could he be mistaken for an Egyptian if he was white?? Hmmmmmm. In addition, AFRICANS, not Europeans, annointed Paul to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to the land of the Gentiles.....Europe. Their names....Lucius of Cyrene and Simon, called Niger. I don't know of any white person called "Niger". Hmmmm again.

Well, again, I won't be watching Hollywood's newest insult.

Ethiopians were/are as black as you can get...

You can spot an Ethiopian from 100 yards away...

I think (my humble opnion) that white peoples association w/ chritianity and their beleif of a white jesus/white god is the seat of all racism/white supremacy...

White people think they are related to god...

That's why they think they are superior...

We really need to see these movies for what they are, unprovoked psychological warfare, meant to convince the African that the Creator of the heavens and the earth is white. The psychological damage done to any and all Africans watching this madness is immesurable. At this point thiese movies do more to reaffirm and solidify the diety of white skin in the mind of the African and we, meaning all of Africa's children need to tune this garbage out and inform our children that there is nothing divine about white skin.

I certainly think that is what George Bush believes... particularly after viewing a doco about George and his 'dialogue with God'.

I'm not a christian, and I'm white, but I do think that some white people's christian smugness and exclusivity of everyone non-christian is indicative of what they believe as a life-time guarantee with God. In some perverse minds, that seems to mean that they are superior to everyone, have matyr-like status, and have some sort of 'spiritual insurance policy' against behaving badly, but in a lot of cases their faith is more an 'insurance policy' to get to heaven for the fearful, not the enlighted.

If there is a 'second coming' - can you imagine the arrival of a Black Jesus? What would white christians do? Now THAT would test their faith don't you think?

I also agree with this... which is why I think it's important to ignore Hollywood and that African Americans put a priority on making your own films.
Noone can expect Spike Lee (and others like him) to be solely responsible for retelling every story that needs to be retold. The next generation has the techno savvy, the energy and the passion.

This movie is HORRIBLE.. I'm trying to watch it now, I mean they made the "Jews" look like white trash..I guess the dirt on people is supposed to justify . This is so sad to me. This is blasphemous.

Most of these people are not interested in historical truth. Regardless what the evidence says they will push the idea of the Bible and ancient KMT as a white derivation. This however grossly contradicts the facts of ancient historians and modern science. Cultural banditry of the Bible and KMT (black history in essence) is an exercise in historical imperialism that is intended to make the Bible and KMT a white civilization no matter what the facts and the truth reveal. No matter how much truth is discovered and rediscovered the academic and Hollywood establishments will never admit most of the characters in the Bible are black Africans. Whitewashing the Bible was developed by caucasians for caucasians. As long as white folk dominate and monopolize the educational, archaeological and historical institutions, they will push these lies as facts to suit their twisted agenda as being the legitimate founders of civilization and patriarch of the Bible and therefore the rightful rulers of planet earth.

The Passion of the Christ and other laughable Hollywood inventions are designed to support European imperial power and white supremacy. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Naveen Andrews from LOST, is probably the only famous "brotha" (or the closest to one) on the program. I did see one black guy there...the pharoah's chariot driver.
