I was listing to the BBC this morning and they were talking about gas prices in Europe. This gentleman mentioned that his Renault sedan diesel got 60 mpg. Eek

I then went to the Renault website, and they have cars running on unleaded that get combined city and highway mileage of 47 mpg. Mind you, this is not a hybrid. Eek

Now of course, there are no freaking Renault dealers in the US. I read somewhere, however, that you could get them through Nissan. Granted, with the weak dollar, they are probably going to cost an arm and a leg, but this makes me even more pissed off at the American automotive industry.

I haven't seen a Renault in the US in....damn...I dunno....at least 20 years? And I heard that broadcast too on NPR. It's gotta be one of those tiny three cylinder deals. Your best bet would be to search Autotrader.com or Ebay for a used Yugo or a Ford Festiva. Both were three cylinder cars from the 80's.
