What do you pray for? Do you pray for specific outcomes/things, or do you pray for broader things like states of being (understanding, peace, love etc.) or both? Do you believe that God answers even the smallest of prayers? Do you believe that when an athlete, for example, crosses himself at the free throw line or at the plate - that God grants specific blessings for that kind of thing? Does God care whether one makes a free throw or not? Does God give us what we want or what we need?

Is it right to pray to win the lottery? Is it right to pray that God save a life? Is there any fundamental difference between praying for the two?

Your thoughts about prayer?

MBM- You come up with the BEST questions! brokiss

I believe that God is Almighty...He has the power to answer any prayer, from the heftiest to the most trivial. In all actuality, I can't say what prayer is wrong and which is right, for He is the Decider anyway, and He will grant prayers for whom He wishes.

You want to know what I pray for?

I pray for the courage to stand up for my people and the wisdom to educate them in the process. I pray for a victory in the Struggle, an understanding between races and a balance in life. I pray for love to rule the world. I pray for peace, not necessarily peace between all people but peace inside my soul. I pray for a safe place to raise my future children without fear. I pray for a day when I will no longer be constricted by the United Snakes of AmeriKKKa.

I pray for strength and guidance to lead me along the road of life. I pray for endurance, so I will never again face the demon of suicide. I pray that I will never give up, always hold on, and depend on Him to show me the way.

I pray for a sense of contentment. I pray for spiritual wealth and mental health. I pray for the ability to help others feel what I feel so often...

(MBM we need a crying Graemlin...)I pray for Africa, and all my brothas and sistahs roaming the earth. I pray for the Crips and Bloods to no longer exist. I pray for all this BULLSHIT to end and for Black on Black crime to be demolished. I pray for the cancer and AIDS victims, the elderly, sick, and the dead, and I pray for whoever reads this.

(Didn't mean to get so emotional but sometimes when I think of all this...all this MESS that we're surrounded by, I can't help but to cry. I think, "I'm only 17...I'll have to deal for many more years and it will only get worse from here.")

Ain't that the truth!

It sure is Sister. As soon as my grands are old enough I am out of here. I feel like an alien in this place. It wasn't like this when I came in 1968. The future is not bright.

Sorry for the thread hijack...

I think I have subconsciousely put my ovaries 'on hold' until I leave. I'm scared to raise children in this place.

You should see me with my grands, I'm like a mother hen! Their teachers know if there's a problem I am the one they will see and it will be unpleasant. What a society this is. I Thank the divinities and our ancestors that not all of the Africans in this country have lost their minds.
