Listening, No...Believing the weather forecast from Sunday, calling for 6 to 10 inches of snow by midnight...waking up at 7:00 am to see ABSOLUTELY NO SNOW ON THE GROUND NOR FALLING FROM THE SKY! AUGH Pfew...sorry had to get that off my chest! Smile

What's funny is that they have closed the schools... just because we might get snow!!?? (they did the same last week).

D.C. will never learn...
1. Walking into my mothers' house and seeing her sitting in her favorite chair, watching her favorite program(s), any/and all of the judges,ie. Judy, Joe Brown, Mathis, Milian etc.
My mothers comments about the many defendents and so on, are hilarious!!

2. Being the only African American on public transportation,ie. bus, train or plane for a long while; and then, a bunch of loud, garralous, laughing, joke cracking, black folk men/women board, who have a minimal concept of quiet, protocol or whispering. Moments like this, are when I feel some sort of 'solidarity' with the 'community' of my African American self.
And then of course it sort of starts wearing off, and I await their departure/ or at least them 'settling down' somewhat (no condescension); but not before exchanging phone numbers, email addresses, and even hugs sometimes Cool. lol!
In many ways, the African American is always a traveling 'stranger' at home in the U.S.
-accomplishment
-scalp massages
-when you hear a song that brings back tons of memories
-rhythms that takes over your body
-long scenic drives in the country
-gazing around from high rooftops
-dancing and singing to music during hours long showers
-smelling a sweet smell you haven't encountered in years
-that four-toothed grin babies give
-q-tipping ears
-reminiscing
-hugs from behind and kisses behind the ear
there's nothing like lying on your back on the grass, sun on your face, daydreaming, on a bright summer's day... staring up at a vivid blue cloudless sky bsm either alone, or with someone very special.

Or as above, on a blanket... on a clear cool starry night.
Bein' who you really are and not givin' a damn how anyone feels about it.

Playing in the sandbox wit' my roadies.

Being around grown ass women who know what's up and know how to deal in any situation.

Miles on the stereo. Cosmo on the table. Woman on my couch just kickin' it.
Peace....

There is nothing like driving really fast with the radio blastin..Gotta be listening to something like Stevie Wonders "All I do"... or one of my other favorite songs (can't remember the artist) "Return of the Mack"...

Yep...

There is also nothin like locking eyes with an attractive stranger of the opposite sex and knowing that both of you are indulging in the same idea about one another...This experience is completely topped off by the forced smile which follows as you depart.

Yep...

Yes....

I know what you mean.....

like....

when you walk into a restaurant and catch glances with a man that looks strangely familiar.....

there's nothing like the joy of finding out that he was someone very special to you in the past......

perhaps he takes you to dinner......

and a high end business function......

and introduces you to the highest of society.....

as his love returned.....

and maybe he stops by your office to drop off a paid gift certificate to a local spa for a full day......

to ease your mind....

from all the stress....

yep.....

Oh I forgot something...There is nothing like receiving a razor shave from an very..very attractive female barber....There is something dangerous about having a woman that close to your throat with a sharp object..Ahh..but something equally sexy about her face next to yours as she strokes carefully across you face while her other hand lays gently against your head...

Really nice...

-When ma dries out the fish and bacon because she knows I like it like that, although she prefers moist.

-Those sweet pheromones that babies give off.

-Literature that is relatable.

-Hearing my younger neices say terms like "Napoleonic complex" or "ingrained sexist mindset." Things that I've said around them and no one else. Reaffirmation that I've been a good tanti. Wink
This is evolving into such a nice list.... I'm feeling the bonsai trees and cinnamon ma'am. I love cinnamon... soap, tea, in cakes, on toast, lollies.... not that cassia imposter. Wink

There's nothing like waking up in a strange city before the city itself wakes up... taking a walk and watching the city unfold from empty-quiet to busy peak hour chaos.
Peace....

There is nothing like finally understanding something after struggling to comprehend for a long time...

There is nothing like playing middle linebacker, and watching a stumbling running back weasel through the defensive line, not realizing that he is right in your path....

There is nothing like being a teenager in a hip hop club and the DJ plays the crowd favorite. While the bass is bumpin everyone shouts..Awww!!! and they throw their hands up simultaneously....

There is nothing like whispering and smiling at the same time...while someone attractive of the opposite sex is whispering back to you, and smiling as well...

There is nothing like staying outside to greet the full brunt of powerful thunderstorm...Hearing the roar of the wind, and feeling the might of it's force, while being drenched severely by the downpour of rain...I rarely miss an opportunity.

There is nothing like the boardwalk on the east coast on a warm summer night...

There is absolutely nothing like hot pizza from New Jersey.

There is nothing like driving through the Chicago Loop during peak traffic hours

There is nothing like sitting through a time share sales pitch...It is the most powerful sales pitch on Earth.

There is nothing like a real reggae club...

There is nothing like holding a newborn...

There is nothing like trying to start your car for 15 minutes on a cold day, and then finally getting the damn thing to start.

And then sometimes there is nothing like the simplicity of the morning paper, and a good cup of coffee..

I practice Poison Hand Kenpo..We are more suited to striking, however, we do incorporate practices which include grappling and throwing.

Hung Gar,and Hapkido (black sash/belt). I'm also currently learning Shotokan and Aikijujitsu (purple belt rank in both). Thanks to my travels I've picked up techniques from Muay Thai, Sambo, Shorin Ryu, and Savate.

It's still winter over here, so there's nothing like... today... finding the only patch of sun in the whole of the outdoor plaza, and sitting eating lunch in it and feeling the heat of the sun on my face.
It felt fine Smile

Being alone in the woods in the morning with nothing but a staff made from some fallen tree limb.

Sometimes, if things are right, you will walk into a clearing and the morning sun will reveal a field of fallen clouds resting on a moist stage of grass, Hawks will soar over head, and the reflection of the lake will complete the scene.
