I was watching Fox News coverage of the convention and heard Karl Rove say to Bill O'Reilly that the mainstream media was putting a negative spin to the Palin daughter pregnancy scandal as a way to get Obama elected. Eek

Also ... it should be illegal to have that many White people in the same room at the same time in a country as diverse as the United States of America! nono Big Grin

During the Democratic Convention, CNN reported that approximately 24% of the delegates there were African-American with minorities comprising 44% of delegates overall. This was featured at the bottom of the screen in the "FACTS" section.

I doubt if they would dare embarrass their beloved Republicans by posting the same kind of delegate demographics for them.
Diversity? Forget that.

This election (and the convention) for the Republicans has and always will be about White America. They showed (without any shame) that last night in explicit detail and all Black (or any other minority) Republicans can do is assist us in our cause for the for a little power and a few coins.

The percentage of Whites supporting Obama will not be enough to bring it home for him.

This election will be the White vote (and any crossovers) vs the minority vote, plain & simple.
I swear... it's gotten to the point when Republicans don't even try to be relevant anymore.

Was I the only one who felt like vomiting when Fred Thompson said this?...

"I can say with certainty that [Sarah Palin] is the first candidate in the history of either party who knows how to properly field dress a moose."

Is that man f*cking serious?

It baffles me that America still can't see through this kind of bs.

And did you see tonight's interview with McCain on ABC News With Charles Gibson? McCain danced around Gibson's interview questions as if he had on tap shoes. The question about Palin's lack of foreign policy experience was the weakest part of McCain's responses. Midway through the interview, Gibson reminded Senator McCain that throughout his campaign, his strongest criticism of Senator Obama was that Obama lacked foreign policy experience. Then he asked if Palin had any experience in this area, knowing that she's never traveled outside the state of Alaska. McCain seemed prepared for this question, because he avoided the question by repeatedly talking about Palin's substantial energy and natural resource experience. He never addressed Gibson's question about her lack of foreign policy experience. A wise decision - He focused on talking about her strengths rather than her weaknesses.

Despite his visage of enthusiasm, Senator McCain knows that he's made a poor choice. He knows that most Americans are not going to take him or his VP choice seriously in November.

It's amazing the way the Republicans will take even the smallest pinhead-sized measure of truth and twist and distort and exaggerate it and bend it all out of shape ... and the regurgitate it into something that's supposed to be believable!! Eek

When Guiliani said, "Republicans are the Party that ended slavery" I 'bout fell out on the floor! Then I realized that he was talking to a room full of people who didn't know any better but to believe that foolishness! Eek

They think that's real. How scary is that? Roll Eyes

That's VERY damn scary. Neither the Republican party nor the Democratic party ended slavery. The 13th Amendment ended slavery, period. And for anybody to allow Giuliani to say that, and not check him on it later, should be ashamed of themselves.

Has anyone else figured out why protesters only show up at Republican conventions??? Confused

... yeah... that was sarcasm... just in case you were trippin'. Cool

Just a point of clarification, and probably due to my lack of a sense of humor, but protestors where at both conventions. There were more arrests at the RNC including preemptive raids on the homes of local activists and organizers. Check out Democracy Now and IndyMedia for more information.

The republican party did end slavery. They got elected from the industrial north because of the outrage from the barbaric principle of slavery, and the succession from the union. To deny that the republican platform was against slavery is ignorant. They won the election on that issue.

No. The Republican party just happened to be in power when slavery ended.

Flat bullshit.

Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was highly resisted in the north. Republicans in Chicago ran a campaign slogan in the last election of the war that said, "The Constitution as it is, the Union as it was, and the Niggers where they are!"

There was no general outrage in the north over slavery. In fact, northern Whites were outraged at the idea of former slaves moving north and competing with them for jobs. The only reason Lincoln insisted on emancipation is because the Union was losing, and the best path to victory was to strike at the heart of the Confederacy's greatest resource... an endless supply of free labor.

Furthermore... England was considering recognizing the Confederacy as an independent country. The British saw no moral difference between either side (since they were both supporting slavery) and the war was hurting their economy because of lack of trade with the Southern States. England's textile industry was dependant on Southern exports, and the Union had been blockading them for years. The Emancipation Proclamation lured England out of siding with the Confederacy... which would have been disastrous for the Union.

You need to read a few more books before you come in here with that "We been good to you nigraz" bullshit.
