I'm new to the board and just wanted to formally introduce myself. My name is BlankCanvas and I am currently a graduating senior Sociology major at Hampton University. I am currently researching the media's effects on the recidivism rate of African American Males and would appreciate your help and support in gaining a generalized depiction of your views on this issue.
Personally, I feel as though the images portrayed within all forms of media can influence a Black man to continue to fuck up in a society that is designed for us to fail. Of course we have to take personal accountability for our ignorance and weakness, but if your constantly being told that a certain image, speech, and way of thinking is the correct and only way to find acceptance, then that's ultimately what we will be socialized to become. One's belief system and socialization starts with the institution of family and at home, so that's where the strengthening of our minds begin. That's my view in a nut shell. How do ya'll feel?
The link below will take you to a brief survey that I have created and I would appreciate if you all took 2 minutes of time to contribute to my statistical findings.
