Clarendon County (WLTX) - A Clarendon County waitress is accused of shooting a customer at the restaurant after the two had a dispute.

Yakeisha Ward, 29, is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.

An early morning run for breakfast at the Waffle House on Paxville Highway in Manning turned terribly wrong for Crystal Samuel.

"I thought I was gonna get me an All-Star," says Samuel. A popular meal on the menu. "Grits, sausage, toast, eggs and a waffle," says Samuel.

She didn't get what she came for. Instead, she says while she waited for her order, her friends started eating. That's when Samuel says she was told they couldn't eat from carryout trays inside the restaurant.

"I said what is your fuss about. I said we haven't paid for our food. She (Ward) said well you all got to leave. How you want us to leave and we ain't paid for the food yet," says Samuel.

That's when it got ugly. Samuel says she threw a waffle at the waitress. "I did actually throw some food but it didn't hit her," says Samuel. "That's when she (Ward) jumped across the counter and we got into it," says Samuel.

Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett says the altercation continued outside where he says Ward got a gun from her car and a gun magazine from her trunk.

"It's poor judgment on her part trying to settle this matter with a weapon. either way she had time to think about what she was doing when she was walking to her car," says Garrett.

Investigators say Ward's gun discharged during the altercation. They say a bullet fragment struck Samuel in the arm.

"Deputies were close by when they rolled up in the parking lot the victim and the suspect were still engaged in a fight," says Garrett.

Before it ended, authorities say Ward struck the victim in the head with the gun.

"She got the last lick,"says Samuel. Meanwhile Ward has bonded out of jail. On Tuesday afternoon, News 19 found her inside the Waffle House where the incident happened.

She declined to talk to us on camera but says she got out of jail after paying $500. As for Samuel, she has only one thing to say about Waffle House. "bad customer service," says Samuel.

Investigators say it appears that Ward's gun was legally purchased.

This reminds me of the time I saw a Walmart cashier beat the mess out of a customer in her line b/c the customer came through with "a stank attitude" (her words).

Sigh...

I'm sorry, but that's just too damn sad ..... and hilariously funny! lol
Yakeisha and Crystal........ karate 17

Can't we all just get along? hug

In this current climate "EVERYTHING" is settled with a weapon, no matter the degree of the circumstances.

No thrown waffle, no physical contact, no gun play. Just cuss/diss words.

And/or maybe a possible set-up later.

That's my home!!!!!!!....you know that we be trippin" too and don't say that we don't.

Can we all say "Thorne Ave".

That could have happened at the Waffle House on HWY 52, across from the video store and in front of the strip mall that houses Maxway, the chinese food joint (chicken wings are very good) and the grocery store, 2 miles from my mother's house, not to far from Brown's BBQ, across the railroad tracks, 1/4 mile away from Tanner's, (love the food) right off the old Lake City Highway. Big Grin

tfro I'm from Columbia myself, but I know some folk from up that way.
fro OMG! What's next? Are we gonna have to wear a hostler and gun just to eat out? Clearly folks are getting more and more wacko everyday.

This is not shocking! People are focusing on the waffle being thrown and that is really not the issue. The issue was disrespect. People have been killing people for looking at them funny….for a long time now. You never know what someone is going through in their life at a particular moment in time. The smallest incident can be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. The issue is not the straw, but the weight of frustration and stress that other human beings are carrying…..especially in these times. People can and will snap on you for the seemingly slightest reasons from the outside looking in.
ER, I have to co-sign on that laugh
The killing part is that old girl went out to her car to get her piece! lol
Taking her job way to SERIOUS! lol

We've all had those days where we swear we're gonna kill somebody if they so much as look at you cross-eyed. I remember one especially bad day during my time at a fast food joint where a customer mouthed off at me and it took all the restraint I had not to beat him senseless with the telephone handset. I'm sure she was too through to begin with, and the flying waffle lol was the last straw. Prayer people, prayer! Use it!

This is so true. I grew up in a small town in TN and my uncle owned the barber shop. The stories I'd here of people shooting, cutting, etc. for the smallest amount of disrespect were endless. Most of these stories involved country folk.

I know I've told the story about Nanny Newman who lived next to my aunt and all his shotguns. He had one in the kitchen, one in the bathroom, one in the bedroom, and one by the front door. lol

Way way back in the day everybody had a butcher knife in the boot and a pocket knife in the back pocket (too poor to own a pistol but had a shotgun, .22 or .410 at home) ) along with a "bad head"; weed on the brain and all liquored up clubbin' on a Friday/Saturday night just waitin' to cut a motherf*ucker and hoping that somebody, anybody would start talkin' some shit...... bow

Many a Friday/Saturday night the club, with the one entrance/exit, packed to the gills, Band/DJ rollin', hot as hell up in there, everybody sweatin, drunk/high, doin' the freak, with that one big ass fan running, has been cleared out because somebody's drunk ass was dancin/hittin'/cheatin' with somebody's woman/man or somebody during the week would not stop talking shit and he/she saw your loud ass and now it's time to whup some ass.

Fellas, many a brick/cement block thrown through windshields, cut tires or sugar in gas tanks courtesy of the ladies. Red Facefro Mad

Yeah ... I was already lol at the flyin' waffle Eek ... but then when homegirl went all Wyatt Earp @ the O.K. Corral and wanna get her pistol over some dang breakfast ... then it was a full out laugh!!

It IS pitiful, I know ... but, my people can act such a damn fool sometimes! lol
ER....damn ignorant azz fools who need to re-examine their own lives...especially since others are not the sourec of THAT much frustration..that is why I avoid many like the plague...because I don't want to make no mamas cry or miss days from constructive activities going to court to defend my actions against some fool whose life was worthless to them and tries to de-value mine to that same extent....the pathology associated with poverty is what many are living out and do not even understand... 'sigh'....and hopefully this will never happen to kin or elderly in the family....because it'll be time for "black rambo" all bullshit aside....trying to be intelligent is difficult when tyou are around fools who are trying to pull you out of that very element.......
