also my mother flat out told me her opinion about me wanting to be a social worker and an early childhood educator anyway, she and my grandmother kinda ganged up on me today and told me about how poor i'm going to be and how i won't "save" them from their so-called "poverty" w/ a high profile job. she told me that even if i don't want to be a doctor or lawyer, it should'nt matter b/c green is all i should be thinking of getting. i don't know about her but i'd rather get paid $9 dollars/hr for a job i love than $200/hr for one i can't stand.
i'd quit my first week of medical school anyway and as for being a lawyer, i can't really lie with a straight face.
go head girl, do you thing... your mother will eventually get over it. The important thing is that you get an education, that's probably why they haven't come right out and objected to you leaving. I do have a question for you though, are you the youngest or the only girl? I attend an all white college, and although there are people that i talk with, i didnt connect with them on a social level.
My days are spent, in class......library, and then home.
Making close college friends, that i'll have a life time, didnt happen for me.

Qty, I hear ya... All white environments can be tough socially... I'm sorry to hear you're having a negative college experience...

omg, I haven't been able to do anything lately. I'm sitting here waiting for a tuition loan company to look over my application and send me my check. School starts this Wednesday and I know for sure that I won't make it there in time since half of tuition is due before a student registers for class. Basically, I'm screwed.
