1) After standing up to Lou Dobbs and breaking him down in the process, Ms. Rosales - the National President of the League of United Latin American Citizens, is one of my new heroes.

2) Bush signed a bill into law today that authorizes (but does not fund), the construction of a secuirty fence designed to keep Mexicans from gaining access to this country.

I think this "fence" legislation is one of the most SHAMEFUL actions in amerikkkan congressional history. The lady that stands in the New York / New Jersey harbor needs to come down because now she represents the hypocrisy of the amerikkkan immigration ploicy.

Black Child's Pledge I pledge allegiance to my Black People. I pledge to develop my mind and body to the greatest extent possible. I will learn all that I can in order to give my best to my People in their struggle for liberation. I will keep myself physically fit, building a strong body free from drugs and other substances which weaken me and make me less capable of protecting myself, my family and my Black brothers and sisters. I will unselfishly share my knowledge and understanding with them in order to bring about change more quickly. I will discipline myself to direct my energies thoughtfully and constructively rather than wasting them in idle hatred. I will train myself never to hurt or allow others to harm my Black brothers and sisters for I recognize that we need every Black Man, Woman, and Child to be physically, mentally and psychologically strong. These principles I pledge to practice daily and to teach them to others in order to unite my People. The Black Panther, October 26, 1968 by Shirley Williams

What is your view on the notion that people from Mexico entering this country without authorization create competition for jobs in the unskilled labor segment of the society. Since African Americans disproportionately reside compete for jobs at this level - such unrestricted immigration is a threat to the "interests" of Black people.

Do you agree with this analysis?

I have noticed that many Black operatives attempt to apply new policy to the people who HIRE this immigrating workforce. To be more specific - they want to target CORPORATIONS who hire them. (as we both know private homeowners and small businesses make heavy use of this labor to a greater extent than do large corporations). Do you believe that such a crack down on employers while ignoring the border protection will ultimately resolve the problem?

What is YOUR proposed solution to the problem?

Now, why is she one of your new heroes?

Yes. She was arguementative but her points were crystal CLEAR... and they were;

1) Mexican citizens seeking to work in the United States are not ILLEGAL, Aliens, or ILLEGAL Aliens. They are humans who are part of the global community. By refusing to accept the white constuct of undocumented people, I give her cool points for standing strong in a hostile environment.

2) Mexican citizens are accepting jobs in the unskilled labor force and in the final analysis, they are taking jobs LONG ABANDONED by whites and Africans. She was able to deconstruct the white mythological belief that amerikkkan born citizens are unemployed because Mexicans are taking their jobs.

Mexicans are entering an unskilled labor force where Black folks have no desire to be. Black folks failed to secure their capitalistic market "interests" along time ago when they settled for consumerism and integration as liberating ideologies. Our choice has been made. Moreover, to rush into this debate against Mexicans who seek work is to side with white supremacy... the same system currently responsible for the reasons as to why we see ourselves as a population needing to compete with Mexicans for a labor market we can't and will not use.

For one, as you already mentioned, corporations are not hiring Mexican workers. Therefore a "crackdown" on corporations would be a farce. If whites truly wanted to change the flow of Mexicans into this country, then they would need to change their value systems. In other words, whites, through their desire to get labor for close to nothing, are responsible for the influx of people from other nations. They are the very same people who complain about the large population of foriegn nationals yet they are quick to employ them as landscapers, nannies, industrial cleaners, and day laborers.

Secondly, and this is an issue that goes without examination espeically when it relates to immigration - but if you want to stop people from coming to work in this country, stop allowing the spread of amerikkkan imperialism on international levels. This country is directly responsible for the collapse of global economies. This nation outsources an astounding amount of labor while it allows mullti-national corporations like Nike, to exploit labor in other countries. Poeple would stop looking for work in amerikkka when amerikkka stops choking the economic life out of first world nations.

Whoa there brother. You are setting yourself up for ATTACK on this message board.

Are you saying that Black folks are:

*Capitalists Consumer Co-Conspirators?

*In New Orleans they sounded just like their "Opressors" when they departed their long held opposition to the Davis-Bacon Act that was created as a barrier to BLACK FOLKS migrating from the south to the north......thus indicating their current "incumbancy" in the American system?

*Blacks have a CHOICE today? Don't tell me that you are REJECTING the long heard notion "I am in America and I didn't ask to come here - I was brought here" / "We didn't land on Plymouth Rock. Plymouth Rock landed on us"

You of course forget that all the folks that passed underneath that lady in the harbor came here LEGALLY, a vast distinction from the ones sneaking across the border in the middle of the night.

yeah
Well this is a very complex topic.

I would say there are no jobs Africans in America or any other person without a job wont do, its simply a myth. Many people who are so called educated confuse jobs they wouldnt do with people who are not as educated or skilled.

On the other hand, much the Southwest was once a part of Mexico, no one asked the indigenous Mexicans how they felt Ie Mexican-American war. So are those who come across the border wrong? no, but should the Corporations who hire them be allowed to work people for less than the minimum wage? no. So what is the solution? The only solution is to punish buisiness who hire undocumented people and pay them less than the minimum wage. But guess what it wont happen.
