Reincarnation?

Mr. Webster defines reincarnation as rebirth in new bodies or forms of life.

We are Spirit and body (the Higher Self and the Lower Self). The Spirit is eternal. Our bodies are temporal. Another way of looking at the Spirit is like that of energy, actually it is energy but that's a whole different topic. Therefore the laws governing energy govern the Spirit. Energy, like Spirit, can't be destroyed it can only take on a new form.

So when we die our physical death our essence which Spriit/Energy will remain and take on another form of life. Now the form of life we take on remains to be seen...holla

Just a couple of questions for you regarding the above:
1. What is the basis of your ontology (the spirit/body dualism)?
2. How do you know that spirit is energy and not matter?
3. What is the relationship between spirit and consciousness? In most forms of reincarnation, there is an assumption of some kind of continuity of consciousness. Thus, when the form changes, is there some sense in which there is still a "self."

1. The spirit/body dualism comes from reading and from experience. Before we were formed as human beings we existed as spirit. Here's some food for thought: people argue that life begins at conception, however, life actually begins before conception. Conception is that "spark" that gives life a form/body.
2. Spirit does take the form of matter. Everything in the physical realm is spirit that has taken on physical form.
3. The relationship between spirit and the continuity of consciousness is interesting. I haven't drawn any conclusions one way or the other. I do think it's reasonable to believe that we leave our "imprints" in this world.

Do you mean this literally, mythically, metaphorically,...?

I think I'm leaning closer to mythaphrorically.

I don't remember what it was like being in the womb. All I know for sure is that everything I needed to survive was inside of that women.

I believe in a metaphorical umbillicle cord and a the world mythically is a giant womb Gaia/Geb/Nut IMO

I just wanted to touch base on the broader topic of science and religion/science and spirituality. Contrary to antequated religious beliefs all fields of science study actually showing us different facets of God/Spirit. Religion may have problems with science and vice-versa, but the truth is that science and spirituality are intertwined--not mutually exclusive. With that said, we can't exclude or dismiss a spiritual truth simply because science hasn't yet caught up with it and validated by way of scientific method.

Spiritual truths are true, because 'The Spirit' says so.

Who can argue with that????

That is what spirituality is.

Everyone's version is valid.

Religion is based on spirituality.

Ergo, all religion is valid.

The Jews believed in dead people having a rebirth. They believed John the Baptist was Elijah. Where did they get these belief system from? These are people with prophets who communicated with God directly. Jesus when confronted with the issue did not say the Jews were wrong, no on the contrary he validated the belief. Jesus said John the Baptist was Elijah.

On a side note the Bible makes it clear when we die WE DO NOT GO TO HEAVEN as some would have you believe. We simply rot in the grave. That being the case it is not so surprising if we are recycled in rebirth awaiting the return of Christ.
