So my best friend bought some movies last week and tells me "girl remind me to make a copy of 'why did I get married' for you, it was sooooo good!" Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes(as I roll my eyes into infinity on the telephone) bang I didn't even go there with her she already has said I can act a little uppity sometime-Bourgeois. Roll Eyes

Im glad to see many of you feel the same way! 3 I am glad however to see Tyler move away from the "Madea" role and actually play a man in his movies-I still don't like them either way, but to each his own. sck

My aunt raves about this movie. She suggested that I take my mother to see it. I didn't want to say, "Uh...no thanks!" Instead I said: "Oh, you know mommy doesn't go anywhere." 9
Peace....

I am listening to Lauryn Hill's old stuff, and man the sister is brilliant in talent, and within her mind...

I am not sure what dragged this sister from where she was, however, whatever it was, it should be punished.

Some artists produce music which is actually medicine.

Hotep myprettygirl,

In Chicago today I am wearing a sweater and sunglasses. It started out around 40 degrees with little or no clouds and a high and sunny blue sky. I just love this city. I enjoy this type weather because I enjoy wearing sweaters, leather jackets, overcoats, argyle socks, gloves and scarves when applicable, and fall impliments in general. With fall being my favorite time of year I am on cloud nine especially when the sun in shining bright. Have a blessd day. Hotep. Olu Olufemi Chike.

Acting 'white' is something that has been around since slavery and it happens because it's real. The jack & jills, negro (or Black) anglo-saxons, uncle tom police officials and politicians, uncle tom military personnel who enjoy the killing of folk that this government don't like, those negro's who hate Caastro and Chavez, niggas who: rape women, rob, kill, steal and creat meyham within the Black communities all over amerikkka, anyone Black who resent our people for getting a 'true education', anywho denounces their Black Afikan heritage, anyone who adhears to the star spangled banner (skull & cross bones) and the pledge to the flag, and those negros who run around talking aboutl they are members of a 'greek organization' (when they are not greek), and anyone who hates the fact that they were born Black and wish they had been born 'white'.. Need I say more? I can go on and on. Least I forget: Jesus hawking cross wearing pimping preachers in the pulpit who clock dollars and not souls. Please, stay Black. Hotep. Olu Olufemi Chike
How's everybody doing? 3

Just had half a stack of 10-grain pancakes, veggie bacon, and pomegranate tea. Now I'm sitting on the couch, full as a tick, watching New York and Miami roll around in the mud over in London.

After much drama on Friday, my sis arrived safely in Jamaica.

Don't have any cash at the moment, but I'm not sick, I have food and my bills are paid.

Life is good. 1

Wow ... Who would'a thought I'd be described as acting white? But do the three that apply to me condemn me as acting white? Or, do I have to do all of that?
Hotep Kweli4Real,

Please don't think that I was attacking any one individual for 'acting white'. I didn't think anyone would take my comments personally. If the shoe fits, by all means, wear it. Acting white is what we are expected to do because of the methods used in and during slavery in order to dismatle our culture and for the slave masters to interject theirs or replace ours with theirs. And it worked!!! As with the willie lynch letter suggests this method would last for two hundred years plus. It's still working today as it was intended. To imply that I was personal in my anology is ludicrous because I have never seen or know anyone on this forum and vise versa. But what I said is real and true as I am sure we all know some one or some bodies who either act as though they were white amerikkans (the celebration of 'their' holidays, the way they immulate white amerikkka, etc) or better still, wish they were white. What is acting white? I have a neighbor who plays that role expertly. I don't bother him nor doe's he bother me. We speak or wave and thats the extent of our involvment. I perfer it that way because there is no way this brother will be anything other than what he and his family are.

My childres were accused of 'acting white' because of the way they spoke the kings english as well as the way they dressed. My wife and I did not teach our children to speak 'proper english'; we taught they to speak english 'properly' therefore they were labled 'acting white'. No matter because this stigma did not pervent them for being what we are: Black, popular and successful. They were not 'acting' Black because they are, like me, Black and proud of it. I have members of my family who are just s 'amricanized' as the average white amerikkkan. Kool-and-the-gang with me. They are still my family and I love them and I am close to them but they know where this brother stands. They know the only holiday I celebrate is new years and they know I couldn't care less about their religions (christianity and islam) and their bibles (the holy bible and the koran). I don't begrudge them for being what they are. They are still my family and I love them and would die for them. But I am a Black man and nothing can nor will change that. Stay Black. Hotep. I talked to one of the custodians today. I ran into him shortly before my morning class. We were chatting and the conversation turned to his children. He was telling me about one of his college aged sons who had graduated high school, enrolled in a local college on an academic scholarship, managed to get a 3.7 gpa ... and has dropped out, done time for selling drugs, and is presently going nowhere with his life.

He said it's the guys he hangs out with. He asked if I had any advice.

I just told him that I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

That's too bad about his son. I'm still trying to "figure it out" too. I was helping a friend move the other day when had an existential moment. Smile (Actually, that's nothing new.)

It's amazing to me when I hear about people who knew what they wanted to be ever since they were little.

I read Neil deGrasse Tyson's memoir and he knew he wanted to be an astrophysicist after looking at the stars through his friend's telescope on top of his Bronx apartment building. He was around nine years old. Now, he heads the Hayden Planetarium in New York. He's sometimes called "The Black Carl Sagan."
Hotep Santana St. Cloud

What is meant by a Black person being described as 'the Black' so-and so. Is this an imulation? The Black Carl Sagan, the Black this, the Black that. What is this referencing? What can't a Black person be in and of his or herself? What do they have to be preferenced with the conatation 'the Black' as though white is 'exclusive' and Black being inclusive? Just wondering. Hotep. Olu Olufemi Chike.
Hotep Santana St. Cloud,

Can you shed a little light on this brother? What is he up to these days? Is he still actively entertaining or singing? Just wondering since I have not heard anything about him or from him lately. I always like him. Marvin is still the king. I dig Will Downing. Hotep. Olu Olufemi Chike.

I hear ya. That's why I put the comment in quotations, to indicate that this is what others say about him. They say this because some feel that deGrasse Tyson is a "popularizer" of science. Like Sagan, he makes science accesible to the lay person.

As for Ray Parker Jr., I really don't know what he's been up to. I happened to see the photo on the web under "guess who" and I had no clue. Smile
Hotep Santana St. Cloud,

It amazes me that white folk never refer to one of theirs as the next 'white' so and so. Like the young child they are advertising as the 'next' Tiger Woods. The reference the 'next' as if it is an upcoming event.Ever hear of the 'white' Michael Jordan? I hear what you are saying. I also know who Carl Sagan is. Brother Tyler I am not familiar with but I will do my research and learn. I'm like that. I need to know my 'own' kind. I need to know as much as I can learn about us. I know a lot about us but there is still a multitude I don't.

About how old would Ray Parker be? He looks good and hearthly. Check out the attachment inifor. for deceased black celebs.
