Hmmmm. By Faheem's judgement you would be "coping out" because "you can't hang with how we do things around here."

.....and everything that is f-ked up about us needs to be changed.....because I do not know what acting black is.....--Kevin41
First of all, what part of a third world country or the Milky Way Galaxy are you from? Secondly, even with your clinical description it doesn't eliminate the fact that billions of people of all races and cultures have always been subjected to racial epithets and always will.

.....but it seems like a stereotype that indicates ignorance as a norm for black people. --Kevin41
If that is the case then the rest of the world is ignorant too and you're the only naively enlightened one(are you an oxymoron?)amongst us. You're right, Kevin--it must be hard being by yourself on planet earth.
quote:
I guess acting Asian is studying hard and having good grades...i'd prefer that any day over some ignorant azz niggah stereotype....--Kevin41
Sounds like your disdain for racial epithets is more personal than clinically oriented. I would love to labeled as studying hard and having good grades too instead of being stereotyped as knowing how to play basketball or running fast or being from the hood or automatically being in the know on the latest slang terminology or being violent, nevertheless, we are labeled, however, it doesn't mean we have to make those stereotypes true. It's not the stereotypes that hurt us, it's the fools that perpetuate those stereotypes that do.
I get sick and tired of seeing a black man face down in somebody's front yard by some police officer on the TV show, "COPS" for running, I got tired a long time ago of seeing stereotypical black sitcoms (thanks, Bill), and black sitcoms, period (thanks HBO's version of Soulfood), as if everything about black life is funny and trivial--sprinkled everynow and then with a touch of a serious episode, dealing with drugs or pregnancy to somehow maintain that show's credibility.
Then again, you have to think--asians are poorly represented in TV shows and even more unfairly represented in movies (thanks, Bruce Lee) as ass-kicking masterful martial artists that kick ass all over the screen but don't
get any ass. So, which stereotype do you want, Kevin? You want to be stereotyped as "black men generally have bigger dicks and are great lovers" or "Asian men have small penises." Take your pick.
....describing behavior along color lines as opposed to socioeconomic lines, which trancends race altogether but demonstrates commonalities amongst them....is dumbed-down layman thinking with no scientific or theoretical basis..and if black people normalize that kind of thinking in their kids heads...then I see why some school districts have 80% of black kids labeled as remedial...their parents are pushing them to be underacheivers... --Kevin41You keep preaching to the choir, Kevin, however, what I keep seeing from your expressions is that you localize all of your thoughts to how you think society should be and that people, in general, are wrong for not thinking like you. The majority of people on planet earth are followers, Kevin, which can clearly be seen if you did a little quantitative research on AA.org--take a little random sample of some of these nuts on this site--many of these people exist within the same mentality of what you describe but they think they are somehow different because they are capable of expressing themselves adequately online, which has nothing to do with how they interact in real life. A person on this site could be a literary genius but socially inept in person.
A lot of the 'dumbed-down layman thinking' is clearly evident in the jealous, envious discussion, Blaqfist, made to make fun of my picture.
I checked that forum out and thought I was back in elementary school, "Who does he think he is...nyahh, nyahh, nyahh...we hate you because we don't understand you, and you don't think like us." That is truly some hilarious shit--grown ass people making fun of a picture--grown ass, insecure men having their masculinity threatened to the point of unprovokingly telling me their weight and height and Fagunwa telling me where he wanted to meet me so we could--fight?
quote:
A clinical expression is grounded in academic research....it stands as paramount to anything everday people stand outside and talk about....just like a dictionary definition transcends any layman definition....and in the real world...not the community, hood or homies approval..the formal definition and enunciation is what counts.....and if black people really beleive the shit they say stands like my pal does in here...no wonder there are problems with academic acheivement by many...--Kevin41
Be careful, Kevin. You're begining to dangerously sound like Bill Cosby or John McWhorter. You know most of these pseudo-intellectuals on this site hate those two men with a passion.
......you say there is no right or wrong..try to attain higher education, particularly in the sciences..and you will find out real quick what is right and what is wrong....--Kevin41First of all, I didn't say there is no right or wrong--I said there is no
one version of right and wrong. Secondly, and once again, you're preaching to the choir. I've done enough quantitative research at the graduate level in the classroom and enough qualititive research in the social wellness workshops I've held on various college campuses to know
exactly what the problem is.
