Time magazine has named the re-elected President Obama its "Person of the Year" for 2012.

"For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union, Barack Obama is TIME's 2012 Person of the Year," writes editor Richard Stengel.

The runners-up: Pakistan women's rights activist Malala Yousafzai (who was seriously wounded in an attack by the Taliban), Apple CEO Tim Cook, Egyptian leader Mohammed Morsi, and Higgs boson physicist Fabiola Gianotti

In a profile of Obama that includes an interview with the president, Time's Michael Scherer writes"

"In mid-December, as Obama settles into one of the Oval Office's reupholstered chairs -- brown leather instead of Bush's blue and gold candy stripes -- the validation of Election Day still hovers around him, suggesting that his second four years in office may turn out to be quite different from his first.

"Beyond the Oval Office, overwhelming challenges remain: deadlocked fiscal-cliff talks; a Federal Reserve that predicts years of high unemployment; and more unrest in places like Athens, Cairo and Damascus. But the President seems unbound and gives inklings of an ambition he has kept in check ever since he arrived at the White House to find a nation in crisis.

"He leans back, tea at his side, legs crossed, to explain what he thinks just happened. 'It was easy to think that maybe 2008 was the anomaly,' he says. 'And I think 2012 was an indication that, no, this is not an anomaly. We've gone through a very difficult time. The American people have rightly been frustrated at the pace of change, and the economy is still struggling, and this President we elected is imperfect. And yet despite all that, this is who we want to be.'

"He smiles. 'That's a good thing.'"

Well...I'm kinda offended with the words" weakness into opportunity."  Who's weak?  America's economy?  The fact that the cowardice repubs are sooooo racist they still THINK they are fighting the civil war?  What US president was perfect?  It sho wasn't the Bushes or Reagan...they tried to make President Kennedy perfect but that didn't work.  So...whose a perfect president?  Sho wasn't Jefferson back in the day.....or Polk....or Clay.....or Esienhower or Roosevelt twice.  I am offended.  Cuz my President represents the change in time.  From savage to savior.  No religious punt intended.  Where at one time we were considered 3/5 humans and now years later....running the same country that penned us that degrading and untrue title.  I grow TIRED of the arrogance of the neanderthal....who thinks he can say ANYTHING about anybody without consequence.  Okay.  I will accept my President being person of the year but I will not accept minimizing him at the same time.  Especially when he has managed to bring something many thought was lost:  HOPE and VISION.  But!

That's what I was thinking.  For turning what "weakness" into what "opportunity"?

I would have never expected "code" from Time Magazine, but hey, America having its first Black president caused countless numbers of businesses, media sources, entities, etc.'s, dormant isms to resurface.

Unfortunately I didn't renew my Time magazine subscription this time around so I won't be able to read the whole story ....

But .... I would think that that statement would be a reference to the economy!!  And that that is EXACTLY what the President did with it!!

The way I see it ..... we were being flushed down the "economic toilet" (the weakness). We are now treading (at least chest-high) in it  ... rather than drowning altogether (the opportunity).

What the President did to save the GLOBAL financial meltdown was nothing short of miraculous.  I don't know many people who liked or appreciated how he did it ... but, he DID it, nonetheless!!

The "Person of the Year" designation is probably just for surviving the racist hate agenda of the rich, the White and the Republican!!    Which is no small feat!!
