So is this media hype? Or is this just a natural outgrowth of male sexuality and the Internet just makes access to images of beautiful women easier?

Internet Porn: Worse Than Crack?
11:00 AM Nov, 19, 2004 EST

Internet pornography is the new crack cocaine, leading to addiction, misogyny, pedophilia, boob jobs and erectile dysfunction, according to clinicians and researchers testifying before a Senate committee Thursday.

Witnesses before the Senate Commerce Committee's Science, Technology and Space Subcommittee spared no superlative in their description of the negative effects of pornography.

Mary Anne Layden, co-director of the Sexual Trauma and Psychopathology Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Cognitive Therapy, called porn the "most concerning thing to psychological health that I know of existing today."

"The internet is a perfect drug delivery system because you are anonymous, aroused and have role models for these behaviors," Layden said. "To have drug pumped into your house 24/7, free, and children know how to use it better than grown-ups know how to use it -- it's a perfect delivery system if we want to have a whole generation of young addicts who will never have the drug out of their mind."

Pornography addicts have a more difficult time recovering from their addiction than cocaine addicts, since coke users can get the drug out of their system, but pornographic images stay in the brain forever, Layden said.

WTF??

Like anything else, adult pornography is perfectly natural and healthy in moderation. The video porn industry has always been more accepting of different body images than mainstream Hollywood. It's almost unheard of in Classic Porn to find women who are shaped like rulers with 2 ginormous hooters stapled to the front. Porn is about how memorable you are and how well you perform sex acts and if you're good at that, you'll get work. So this nonsense about it leading to misogny and breast implants and pedophilia (WTF??) is crap. Look to the major music labels and magazines and film studios who tart up grown women in bloomers and pigtails for photospreads and sing the praises of stick figures with implants and produce videos of "muscians" spliced with naked body PARTS (not even the whole woman, just her PARTS). And this is available every single time you turn on your TV or look at the magazine rack in the checkout line at the supermarket. No need to search anywhere for THOSE images.

Mary Ann Laden is a complete nutjob. She wants huge billboard warning people to stay away from pornography, strip clubs, prostitutes, etc. Is this broad going to get in my head next and try to tell me about the evils of my fantasies and try to police that too? She travels the world speaking against porn and homosexuality and anything outside of mainstream, conservative Christianity really.. She also has spent a great deal of time trying to get stricker censorship in libraries. Ugh! She's probably got a 15" Black rubber cock on her nightstand, anyway. The most passionate fascists always do. Cool

I guess she's never heard of racism, poverty, war, broken homes, aids, cancer, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, sexism, unemployment, alcoholism, homophobia, organized religion (sorry folks - kinda sorta just joking! sck ), etc., etc., etc. What an idiotic thing to say.

I can see porn being like crack to some people

I saw something about this on Oprah and Dr. Phil before- where women were saying their marriages were heading for divorce because porn had taken over their husbands lives like a drug. several of them were in debt buying internet porn and phone sex and not financially taking care of their families.
Personally I dont see anything wrong with pornography. Some couples I know, including myself, use them not only for stimulation but also for different technique ideas. When pornography was first created it wasn't supposed to be looked at or thought of as something vulgar. It was meant to be looked at and respected as art.I guess that it has changed dramatically over the years.
