fro Young lady I am not threatening you! It's impossible. This is the internet. You can be on homeboy's side all you want. Have fun! As for the Hyksos, they invaded north Africa several times. And finally ruled in the 13th Dynasty [1783-1640 BC] for over 400 years but were driven out in the 18th Dynasty [1550-1307] by Theban Pharoah Ahmose. As a result, the Hyksos scattered throughout Egypt and slithered into the culture transforming African Egyptians to Asiatic Egyptians. That's was how they were able to take over the north Africa again-through procreation which led to climbing up the social ladder until they ruled again.

BTW you commented: "That African men happily dragged us to the shore to be enslaved by Arabs and White men"...

Excuse me, but is it necessary to refer to girls as "bitches," "broads," and "bloated negroes and coons" in order to make your point? This is trifling, and I am surprised that people in AA.org are still responding to your statement as if it were acceptable. appl appl Thankyou sista Rowe! Finally another woman of substance taking a stand! fro
People, we have got to do better than this. Let's stop blaming MBM and everyone else on the site for the way that WE are conducting ourselves and referring to one another. This is absolutely unacceptable. Be accountable for YOUR behavior. There is no reason why we should be referring to one another as "negroes," "coons" and "bitches" on an African American website.

Is anyone else confused/perplexed/annoyed at Ofay's admittance of the children of European colonialist, who still benefit from Apartheid, and the Euro/Zionist controlled economy, to the school?

Not having intimate knowlege of the case, I'd have to know if she had full control over the admittance criteria. It may have been someone else's requirement that white children be admitted (the S.A. government perhaps). It may have been a part of the deal... a compromise if you will... in order to get the school built or aquire some resource for the school. Or the admittance may be hinged on an income bracket only... in which case lower end income European families would qualify.

Does this not defeat the purpose of such a school somewhat(to say the least), or at least call her admissions protocal into question?

We are only talking about 10% of the student body.
If the purpose of the school is to educate a large number of African children... then I don't think 10% of them being European hamstrings that a great deal.

My question is... would it be worth it to not open the school in order avoid educating that 10%?

Personally I always thought that she was attrcted to South Africa on a subconscious level because the racial/power dynamique is similar/the same as the Amerikkkan one.... Which made her feel comfortable(on a subconscious level). She took it so far that she swore up and down that she was Zulu(which was pretty ridiculous and impossible) and seemed dissapointed to find out her ancestors came from what is now Liberia.

She also did a big show on Blood Diamonds, only when the movie was coming out, and then spent the latter half of the show justifying and promoting ,and her upper to upper middle-class white female core audience, buying more bling bling because it is supposedly 'helping' places like S.A.'s and Namibia's economy(only mentioning that the process which excludes blood diamonds from the market isn't 100% foolproof for a quick moment, not to mention the inherent exploitation that the economic system DeBeer's is working with in Namibia entailes)

Very good points. However, it could also be that she believes that S.A. clearly needs more attention and outside intervention because the White Supremacist system is stronger there than in other parts of Africa.

fro Truth hurts doesn't? Is this the best you got? Everybody knows "Men" were Involved in slavery-not women. It's history. Just like this present-day African pimps--those who still have their women in servitude.

Also, didn't you know, more young Black men in America die at the hands of other Black men? It's a fact! And it's the concerned Black women who clean up the mess and bury the young. Ever since we set foot on this land, we have been doing MOST of the work helping OUR people obtain freedom and civil rights. Although there are/were a lot of Black men standing right next to us as we face Massa head on, others like YOU are/were shaking in your boots doing the-uncle-tom and-the-spook who-sat-by-door-dance hoping Massa wouldn't see you.

To say I'm part of the conspiracy to destroy Black boys is more than a joke. It's hilarious! Prove it! You're just angry cuz it is a FACT your gender was a BIG PART of the Black Diaspora! And your gender is STILL involved in present-day slavery...while from time to time the likes of you slither back to the states to brainwash the "impressionables" with misogynistic propaganda mainly cuz this whole slavery/subjegation of women thing has backfired and evolved into ethnic cleansing. And just like women in Africa didn't have power/control then they STILL don't have power/control now. If they did, slavery in Africa wouldn't exist.

Say what you want! I can sleep at night can you? Probably... cuz you have no conscious, obviously no respect for women...you are the greatest example of those African men who endorsed not only slavery but LIED about their participation in the biggest crime in human history. FYI, weak men always blame women for their indiscretions. And you were HITLER in yours.

Go sliter back under your rock.
Can someone point me to some video or an article that gives the school demographic? Everything I've found says the school is for "previously disadvantaged" girls whose family income is under 5,000 rand (approx. $787 US). As I understand it, "previously disadvantaged" is South African post-Apartheid code for non-white.
how could this become a man vs woman thing. What you mean women wasnt involved in the slave system. White women played a vital role in the maintaining of slaves. Also the Queens , Spain, Portugal etc, often were directly responsible for issuing decrees allowing for the transport of slaves to much of the New World. But with that said, we go way overboard with this blaming each other. It is true that some black men participated in the slave trade, as well as black women. It is also true that black men by and large could not protect his woman during the times of slavey, but its not because countless didnt try countless ways, many even died brutal deaths. The fact of the matter is we were outnumbered visible distinct and without sufficient weapons to combat the slave institutions. But what could we do sistas. I also think to go overboard on oprah for having a few white girls in the school is also foolish. What difference if there are a few white girls in the classroom, the only thing that should matter is the correct cirriculm is used period.

That's what I was wondering with my earlier post. If it was just about the money (income levels) then that right there would explain why there are a small percentage of White girls there.

So really it becomes a question of... what exactly are the criteria and who actually put them together?

I wasn't going to mention this because white folks are watching, but I have grown tired of the lies and mythology homey is spreading. Not only did white women trade Africans, Black African women did so as well.

AFRICAN WOMEN SLAVE TRADERS

In a book titled "Women in History" by Sarah Shaver Hughes and Brady Hughes (1997), African women slave traders were common up and down the coast of West Africa during the 17th and 18th centuries. Although a number of our sisters made money trading African men, women, and children, there were four major Black women traders who became extremely wealthy as a result of selling Africans; Betsy Heard of Bereira, Elizabeth Frazier Skelton of Victoria on the Rio Nunez, Mary Faber of Sangha on the Rio Pongo, and Bibiana Vaz.

These women and others traded in the Goree and Saint Louis in what is now known as Senegal. African women traded humans because it brought them commercial and political influence and increased social status. African women traders were sought after by white traders because they knew markets. Whites called these African women traders "Culture Brokers" because of their expertise in finding suitable human cargo.

African women slave traders also entered into marriages with white male slave traders specifically for the purposes of market convenience and the opportunity to EXPAND THEIR BUSINESS and SPHERE of INFLUENCE.

Let that marinate.
fro You're right Shango67....I forgot about those whores. They are just like the madames in the brothels who sold young girls to old men for profit! I was soooooo focused on you calling Oprah a coon, this fact slip my mind. But you have to ADMIT I gave your ass a good fight! But when you're right, YOU'RE RIGHT! But I don't take back what I said about African men. They were there too drinking that rum and getting drunk, I guess along with those female TRADERS! YOU GOT ME! I throw in my towel! fro

I had to respond,

I'm not defending Shango in any but one of my posts. I did once, becuase his contribution to Africa was that of building a school, same as Oprah, which was specifically called into question. I've repeatedly say I'm not a fan of his posting style.

If your qualifications of becoming an elder (and you are wrong about my age BTW, I'm older than what you guessed) is the equivalent of becoming a man-hater, and if taking the 'sistas side' means completely denegrating 50% of our proplr, and having an us/them attitude towards my/our compliment(not enemy)the African man, and twisting history to do so, I'll pass.

I'm not just book smart(thanks for the compliment). Yes, I am not an elder and would never claim to be, but I have had a lot of life experience. That is where I learned the most, not books.

I stated in my previous post I was NOT quoting you... I guess that was missed, like most of the other points that have been made in my posts on this thread because I don't have the inclination to bash all African/Black men.

Saracen,

I've been laughing too. It's kind of pitifully humorous.

Since you have no respect for your fellow sistas and continue to take up for a sick/weak man who calls women out their names, I'm not gonna waste my time any longer responding to ANYTHING you have to say.

Sista I didn't say "happily dragged." I said dangling children and abused women....that's what I said. And yes they were probably dragged, kidnapped and tricked. Advice from an older woman to younger woman: Learn not to twist words to make a point. It makes you look very foolish. fro

I'm not defending Shango in any but one of my posts. I did once, becuase his contribution to Africa was that of building a school, same as Oprah, which was specifically called into question. I've repeatedly say I'm not a fan of his posting style.

If becoming an elder to you(and you are wrong about my age BTW, I'm older than what you guessed) is the equivalent of becoming a man-hater, and having an us/them attitude towards my/our compliment(not enemy)the African man, I'll pass.

fro As I said to you before: YAWN! sleep

YOU GOT ME! I throw in my towel! fro

I wasn't fighting you on that issue - I just did not want to mention it while our enemy was watching.

Your girl OPRAH is a descendant of African women who participated on the trading side of our captivity. Just look at her press photos and you will see how she is parading those girls around - ALL SMILING. She is releasing their personal stories, she uses their HIV / AIDS status, and she marches them around the media like they are basket cases who needed the wealthy amerikkkan Black woman to rescue them.

Maybe one day, you will realize see the writing on the wall.
fro Come on Boo Boo...you said I was Nurse Rivers in my past life. Where did that come from? My african brotha? Huh? You said "coon" in front of the enemy. What's the difference? And you got that "mammy" avatar in front of the enemy....so come on Boo Boo take it off. And if you want to continue to debate....I'm ready. But I gave you your props...now give me mine.

BTW: I'm only being nice cuz you won this debate but there are others we haven't even touched. So take off the avatar and let's begin again. 'K. fro
I did not "win" anything.

I will consider removing the avatar.

However, MBM did send me a note about my use of "language" and I agreed to communicate differently. Language is a powerful tool, and although I believe that "censoring" people on this board is not a good policy, I will abide by MBM's wishes.

But for any of you who complained
fro YES YOU DID WIN something...YOU WON THE DEBATE...Now I'm being nice...and giving you your props...and you're still being a.....

whatever....can't say I didn't try! fro

OMG!!! Eek

Now ain't this somethin' ... with all the racial slurs and disrespect slippin' off your fingertips, YOU say you didn't want to mention that particular piece of history while the "enemy" was watching???? Get the fock outta here. Too damn funny, honey. lol

Ok, lets just NEVER address or deal with the fact that White Male Patriarchy, White supremacy, and all of it's instruments....Capitalism, imperialism, colonialism, globalization, neo-colonialism, ect are 'our' enemy. Let's all decide on an individualistic basis who is our personal enemy and screw everything else because we feel like any suggestion to look at the bigger picture is being 'dictated too'.

A.K.A screw discussing the struggle because I am a 'grown ass woman'...lol

You have SOME nerve talking about the maturity level on this thread [as IF you're so "above" it] ... when your CONTROLLING SELF think you can put words in my damn mouth, how very mature of you. Can you say "hypocrite"? I think it fits you well!

I chose NOT to discuss the issues in your post and THAT is/was *my* prerogative ... ALSO I did not make any personal attack towards you, I simply will not allow you to DICTATE who or what I respond to - GET OVER YOUR DAMN SELF sometime in the near future, ydon'tcha!

You make no mention of shango's PERSONAL attack, and HE initiated this whole situation.

You seem to think it's OK for him to use RACIAL SLURS & to insult "me" [I'm not supposed to respond, I'm supposed to address what YOU feel I should, please! lol@U ] AND that's your business, but HOW MATURE IS THAT, huh?!? As the saying goes -- physician heal thy self.

It seems to me that ... because I'm not part of your "clique," shango's role in this 'back & forth' is alright. Listen, YOU do YOU [ms. CONTROL FREAK] and I will continue to do ME. . .

. . .Because ALL you have control over, in this instance, is your "ignore" button. So USE it!

I requested balance in the convo. I see it's not going to happen.

Yep, here's another one talking smack, "this will be my last post" Yeah right! Yet SHE came back too...I guess she wasn't so "ABOVE" the maturity level after all. Humph!

As long as your UGLY a** ain't wearing it--don't worry about it, Trick!
I have to admit, this thread has been a bit of a history lesson for me. And THAT makes it all worth while, in my book.

Dang ... Women slave traders too??????? Eek

GET OUT! Mad
quote:
African men didn't do a god damn thing to save the African women and their children from slavery....

"fro Truth hurts doesn't? Is this the best you got? Everybody knows "Men" were Involved in slavery-not women. It's history. Just like this present-day African pimps--those who still have their women in servitude.

Also, didn't you know, more young Black men in America die at the hands of other Black men? It's a fact! And it's the concerned Black women who clean up the mess and bury the young. Ever since we set foot on this land, we have been doing MOST of the work helping OUR people obtain freedom and civil rights. Although there are/were a lot of Black men standing right next to us as we face Massa head on, others like YOU are/were shaking in your boots doing the-uncle-tom and-the-spook who-sat-by-door-dance hoping Massa wouldn't see you....

......statements of reality such as this most certainly kill any notion that Black people are due any compensation for Reparations for Slavery....

......Activity that Most Certainly Rests on the Shoulders of the Treasonous, Disgraceful, unTrustworthy, and Criminal within the Black community and not Racist Caucasians nor White Supremacists!

.....that is unless Black people are also held responsible for their contribution to the oppression and slavery of other Black people. Mind you, there is more than enough blame to go around, because both genders have contributed to the enslavement, and/or oppression of Black people.

fro One thing has nothing to do with the other. Reparations [in America] are to compensate for the 400 plus years of FREE LABOR in this country. As always, you miss and twist the point to correlate and fit with your frame of thinking. What exactly is it you're trying to convey? That because both African men and women were involved in slavery...the descendants of those enslaved in THIS COUNTRY are not entitled to compensation? Brotha please........that sounds like something Massa would say to get out of paying.

BTW: I stand by my statements! I have admitted already that I forgot about the "female pimp traders." But everything else I said still STANDS! fro
