Eek Eek

I live on the 2nd floor of a 2 story building. Right now, in the apartment below me, there is what appears to be an EXORCISM going on. It's in Spanish, but someone is having, or believes they're having, demons removed from them below me right now.

You can't make this stuff up!!!!

LOL@MBM... I'm trying, but you know life is stressful, man... plus u know I don't thnk like Constructive feedback, so I'm prone to self-destructive behavior...

Well, it seems to be dying down now, finally, but there were a lot of blood-curdling screams, choking, yelling and chanting... It's all in Spanish, so I can't give the detailed play-by-play. But the screams of "Cristo!!! Cristo!!! Cristo!!" and references to "el Diablo!!" provide sufficient context.

This guy has lived here for approximately 3 weeks. I'm not sure if he's the exorcist or the "patient." But I doubt the establishment clause, or NJ law, requires me to put up with this.

Oh, and Frenchy, the only thing coming up here is the noise.

(But just the same, I'll pay extra attention to my cat's behavior over the next few days...)

You should put up some protection, deamons look for other places to hang-out when they are chased away, specially if they are right under you, and you heard their screams. They know that you are listening and might seek to visit you if you don't detour them.
And for those of you who think they don't exist, there are literally thousands of centuries of documentation on their activities in society, and have been influencing society for millions of years, even the Bible says they exist.

Also just look at the world around you, and look at what's going on.
I would be scared shitless if I was you VOX! But on the light side it makes me want to watch constantine. Is that what it sounds like? I've always been fascinated with exorcism and the like, I would kind of like to sit in on one but i would be afraid the demon would come into me too much. Why is it that spanish people seem to become possessed the most. Everytime i watch a documentary on possession or something similar it's a spanish person involved.
Well, I don't believe in demonic possession. Although I do believe that there are evil influences, I don't believe that demons actually take possession of people.

But this guy has only lived here for a month. If this becomes a habit, watch me go down there and bust it up, if I don't just call the cops and report it as a disturbance. One way or another, this is too ridiculous to have to deal with. Some people get to hear their neighbors having sex. But no, not Vox. bang

Damn! I'm more likely to witness neighbors expelling demons from souls that to hear neighbors getting their freak on! Why do I go on living?!? Confused

And this was Christmas. What does he do on Halloween??? Eek

And MsPrettygirl, yes, I saw Constantine. That was based on a comic book I used to get into. I think they should have given that role to Colin Farrell instead of Keanu Reaves, but that's probably because of my familiarity with the comic book character. But the movie was pretty good. Not brilliant or mindblowing, but well worth the video-rental thing.

Also, I never thought about it before u said it about Latinos. But I wonder if it has to do with the fact that they're still not so far removed from more superstitious ancestors. They're unique in that they're Christian, but unlike African-Americans (as Fine alluded to), they also have extremely strong ties to their pre-Christian native ancestry. The native Americans/Tainos/Arawaks/etc. were particularly superstitious, and when you combine that with Catholicism's strong imagery of the dichotomy between God and the Devil, I wonder if maybe that leads them to be more prone to belief in this kind of thing. If Kresge reads this thread, maybe he can shed some light...

And AudioGuy ... I've got "Spiritual War" playing right now!!
Vox I had no idea constantine was made after a comic book. I rented it and didn't really see many previews for the movie to begin with. I'm one of those rare people that likes keanu as an actor(in certain things) but i do think colin would have been good for the part.

It makes sense, now that you mention it, that I would see alot of latinos (in particular mexicans) in connection with demon possessions. I never thought that deep into it to see the connection, but it really is fascinating.

I have a Puerto Rican friend from NYC. I didn't believe in demonic possession until she told me of an experience she had. I have never known this woman to lie.

She was over a friends house while they were performing a ritual. She had her infant son with her, but he was in a back bedroom asleep.

She told me that an older woman came into the house, looked around and told everyone if they were afraid or if they had bad feelings toward the man, they should leave now.

My friend described how the house was lit by candles and all the mirrors in the house were covered. The person they were "working on" [?] was a small frail man in his 80's and was dressed in all white.

She told me that about an hour into the ritual, the man started yelling in a definite voice and it took four men to hold him down.

My friend told me that this freaked her out and she became scared. Then suddenly, the man became calm. My friend said she had just began to breath again when she saw her son on the floor slithering on the ground like a snake. She said she went to pick him up and he sat up, looked her in the eye and said in the voice of a man, "don't touch me." Her son was less than 2 years old and had not begun speaking yet. The woman started yelling that everyone should have known better than to have a child in the house.

They then performed the ritual on her son.
