Politics and campaigning is bait and switch to the worst degree. It’s systemic. The same checks and balances built into the system to prevent radical departure or abuse prevents good radical departure as well as bad. When the SYSTEM itself requires radical departure for the benefit of the masses, but is increasingly beneficial to the politicians, the systems WILL NOT PROMOTE a threat to its ways, to a position of power within the system. It would be a conflict of interest, as well as, counterintuitive for anyone to even expect such.

If Jessus Christ ran for the President.....he would have to become the devil to win. So he would never run.

Here is an opposing, but accurate view.

Bottomline here ,that many seem to be forgetting is that we live in a democracy, not a dictatorship.  PRESIDENT OBAMA can only set the tone, the let down is due to weak-kneed democrats in congress.  PRESIDENT OBAMA [and the real progressives] proposes a plan and what starts as a meaningful bill gets watered down to nothingness.  [I'll figure out the site's tools sooner or later.
He can do more than that.  He has done more than that behind the scenes and that is how the "single payer" discussion got quashed.  Because he wasn't willing to entertain it and put the word out to congress.  It was clear from his statements and those of his staff that public option wasn't all that important to him either, so the senate felt free to dick with that until the bill is basically a law against citizens who don't have health insurance.  HE has influenced this process very much so.
