to assume that Nationalist dont read white people's books are wrong. Many true Nationalist have been through the gambet of thought and ideology, but just because we dont need eurocentric validation doesnt mean we dont read. And Diop isnt a bad read for anyone, this brother was a genius. Who do you suggest we follow Hegal,Arthur Schlessinger, or these savagely racist cats?

You're proving my point... I'm not suggesting you follow anyone.... I'm also not denying that Diop was a genius... But even geniuses can be wrong... Even geniuses need other scholars to round out and test their work..

You can't build on Diop alone is my point

Just as modern physics does not build on Einstein alone....

You can't just throw out ideas just because they're European in origin.
why do you try to insult people like that. What person would only read one person's book. There are many many Nationalist out there. Whats wrong wih Diop, what was he wrong about. But to minimize all the work so many brothers and sistas have done for African people is very insulting. How about Clarke, Chancelor Williams, JA Rogers, Wade Nobels, Amos Wilson etc etc

Would you please react to what people actually write??

JESUS!

I didn't say anything was wrong with Diop or any of these other people you cite...

My point was that you can't have respectable or even reliable black scholarship that relies only on black scholars.

CHRIST!

Pay atention to what I say please...

Before you again misinterpret me,

You couldn't have respectable American scholarship that ignored relevant French, or Japanese, or Senegalese scholarship... for example...

Ideas are not so easily contained...

There has never been a great civilization that didn't borrow and learn from other civilizations.

who said he was , but no on at the UN conference conducted on the African orgin of Egyptian civilization could dispute his scientific scholarship plus the brother studied at some of the best schools in Europe. And what Civilization did Ancient Kemet Borrow from?

But what about subsequent scholarship? That conference was decades ago... any number of subsequent discoveries could have proved or disproved portions of his work....

This is my point... scholarship moves.... it doesn't freeze in time like a religious text... I often get the feeling that this is how many Nationalists want to treat figures like Diop....

And yes, the brother did study at some of the best schools in Europe which is part of my point... he built on European stuff...

Look... I don't want to get in to this debate...

I was simply attempting to explain why some people tend to view Nationalists as 'reactionary'
well it seems as if you are trying to accuse Nationalist as somehow not using scientific research methods, as John Henrike Clarke once said about the great Ivan Van Sertima, he said when he went to Mr Van Sertima and wanted to know all the history of African people in World History the first thing he said was "Go study the Europeans history first, read his books then go reseach the great scholarship and culture of your people. My point is to say just because you dont agree with Nationalist ideology doesnt mean its not as sound as any other scholarship, brothers and sistas have spent many many years or research to uncover our history and contribution to society. You can never know where you are going until you know where you come from

Again, please don't read things into what I'm saying... Note that I've tried to qualify my statements... meaning I've made statements not about all Nationalists but 'many' or those I've met...

If my statements don't apply to you, then fine. They don't apply to you. Have a good day.
