Below is a conversation I came across on Black Planet that had a profound effect on me. The words of the response this poster got was so beautiful I thought I would share it with you as I notice AA.org is a forum where mockery of Africans is the order of the day. Please focus on the reply

I may be wrong but I feel that African Americans make mockrey of Africans than any other group. For instance, if i meet a white or hispanic, they will proberbly ask me about government or about our music, but alot of Black folck call me names such as Kunta kinte, of shaki zulu. ask me questions such as how many giraffs zebra`s I have back home, how did i hunt for food, how did i learn english. I just laugh and think they are the Ignorant ones and i Find the warmest love from those who take time to know and ask reasonable questions. I have even found African Americans who know more about my culture than i do. making fun of African accsents, thats another case. Once again, i may be wrong. as such i will like to recieve other people`s opinion

Mockery of Africans
Welcome to AMERIKKA... That realization shows that you have finally arrived. Racism & mockery runs rampant through-out this society... We the Black Amerikkans who's immediate lineage comes directly through the channels of Slavery here in this country have long been regarded as scums of the Nation... We are now and always have been rock bottom (the dredges), so far as prestige and influence goes... Every other group of immigrants that has arrived since our release from captivity has managed to come together, bonding in friendship, love & responsibility, so that group can advance as ONE PEOPLE... Other groups of like Cultures seek one another out either to help them get established, or in seeking help for themselves.. They all seem to know that together (in unity) they can & will survive... Some how, we missed that lesson...Can it be in our genes...
Since we don't have the power to oppress or discriminate against anyone, our only re-course is to show contempt, or to mock others that we feel are also as powerless as we are...And it's only towards those with no obvious influence, connections or money... Little do they know, that you will soon connect with a support group, while leaving them in your dust...
All have been mis-educated, and know that they were intentionally left behind in a state of confusion and discord, but still they find themselves unable to reach out to one another... Those that were able to advance can't seem to reach down to help... Instead, they too mock those less fortunate ones that can't seem to find their way...
The TV & News has always promoted negative images of you to us & again its shows the same negative images of us to you.. This is part of the "divide & conqueror" mentality.. You see, it is still working today... We all need to open our eyes to this and see that we are the same... The same People, in the same Places.. Just took different journeys to get here...
Not all African Americans are bad though, just some... Take care in your journey and step over the bad ones as you go... There are many good ones among us out there looking for you... Please look for us...
Peace be with you....
