But I have been tempted..... many times....

I know this has nothing to do with race.... but attitude and relating.....

but sometimes......

a woman can get bogged down......

I work at a firm full of white men that treat me like an exotic princess......

I'm not attracted to any of them.....

though I am consciously aware that they are what many could deem as "attractive"......

after going through emotional rollercoasters with Black Men.....

sometimes your heart distorts your rational mind.....

and the white man opening the door..... offering to buy you dinner..... or alleviate your financial burden..... or comments on your beauty......

just feels good.......

when the beautiful Black man you just left......

forgets you're there......


good thing... my rational mind is strong.....

and my energy stays magnetized to the chocolatist (yep! a word right now) of men....

i just kinda think it's time for black women to allow themselves to have other options in dating esp. interracially since alot of black men now a days have no problem doing this.

I suppose we all have our different tastes and attractions......

I'm just not physically attracted to them..... or emotionally, spiritually.... I know too much about our history with the culture....... and I tend to view things I'm dealing with today on a continuum...... in to the future..... with reference to the past..... I try to see the general and the specific when necessary.......

Copulating with a white dude..... is a necessary situation to view who he is collectively as well as individually past my needs for recognition and attention...... I try to work with the brothers that are in my sphere...... and I try to make the best of a situation that we are all born into that makes them..... and me less than what we should be for one another....

I'm learning patience....

but anyone who knows me..... knows that this is a Virtue I struggle with....

I was having a situation with my family. My brother was going through somethings and I was helping him out. When I tried to explain what was going on to him he just didn't understand. But yet when I talked my black guy friends they understood perfectly what was going on and even helped me understand better. Like I said it wasn't because I didn't have feelings for my white boyfriend it was just that he couldn't understand some of the things said and done in my african american family. Plus you have to be one strong person to be in an interracial relationship. People say some mean and just horrific things to you, even now days. Some of the thing brothas used to say to me would just cut deep. But what made it even worse for me was the things that my family said "behind" my back.

I've married, dated and slept with a white guy (ok, that's cheating ) and I've dated Asian, European, Australian as well as African American men. And dated guys who were working class, middle class and moneyed.

The bottom line is, how he treats you (and everyone else) depends more on the man's upbringing, attitude, life experience, his own sense of values, and his level of maturity than his race.

Which makes it quite a challenge, but mostly fun... like a grown-up's Treasure Hunt.

I think I asked him not to. The one time he really stood up for me was in front of a bunch of big football playing black guys. It just about gave me a heart attack. I think that was another reason we decided to part ways, I didn't like him fight over me. I think he took that as me believing he couldn't protect me, I don't really know if that's true. But anyway at the time I don't think he said anything except something to the effect that if I wanted to be with a d!ck like him I wouldn't be hanging with a gentleman like him(my guy). I don't really remember it was a year ago.

You bet? I guarantee it. Anyway I'm not sorry me and my ex broke up. I love being single and we are still pretty good friends. He's in a very happy relationship with a white woman(go figure) and I'm truly happy for him.

I agree with 'Virtue'; see many attractive white males, but am less and less spiritually inclined to 'get with'em. However, when I was a grad student at Southern U, one of my best friends was a white male student, at an HBCU of all places; we did everything together.
When white males are'nt being/acting imperious,conversation can be awesome with them!! I have some aquaintances who are involved with some white guys, and the relationships were typical male/female;race was the extra 'guest', but was handled.
To use the phrase that our white compatriots employ, some of my 'best' associate/'frienimies' have been white guys; In all honesty, that has not been so with black men; lovers, crushes etc., but never really 'friends'. hmm 'Virtue', I get the 'cruel' comment, ouch.
