Yes -- very good job, MBM. appl

I would like to recognize all of us for making this site what it is. A place For Us By Us with all the diversity that we bring. I've acquired a new love for our people through being here.

I would especially like to thank my sistas. You all have given me a real appreciation of black womanhood. Sandye who has silk in her soul. Oshun Auset with whom I don't always agree but that sista has intelligence and fire. And through her many posts in the Religion forum she has aroused an interest within me about native African religion. tru2urself16 who brings sass, forthrightness, an old soul, and the freshness of youth ... Tre and ma'am who bring both humour and intelligence and yet still keep it real ...

Fab ... the word "spark" doesn't quite do it for me ... that sista is J-U-I-C-Y and down witha brotha ... I wonder where she's been all my life ... Wink

Right here baby. Wink

and thanks kiss

I'd also like to thank Firefly ... She has sparked an interest in African literature for me. For real. We all should thank her for her contribution to the board through her blog.

I agree. yeah Good job, Firefly.

I agree. I've also learned a lot from Oshun Auset I'd love to meet her face-to-face one day and have a very long chat over a tagine and glass of tej. Smile

I thought it would be good to have a thread where we talked about how other members have changed our minds about issues, given good advice, or made recommendations that were helpful. I.e., Let's talk about how we influence each other positively!

I don't have a lot of time today, but I have to single out one poster who has changed my thinking on a topic/issue, Empty Purnata.

I've always prided myself on my knowledge of economic systems and their effect on the people living within and outside of them. But E.P. has challenged my economic belief system, regarding capitalism as the "best" alternative in practice [rather than theory], and made me seek more information on "Market Socialism."

But others have challenged my thinking as well and I see that as a good thing; it provides the opportunity for growth. I will be back later to point those folk out.
I think there was a topic on this before but in case I'm wrong and for the FNG's.......
I personally have gained something from everyone here; past and present.
Whether political (MBM), afro-centric and spiritual (Oshun Auset), education (Rico and HB)or that not all sisters hold all men responsible for the stupidity of a few ("The super models" Nykkii, Len, MPG, Sandy and others)and thats its ok to be a blackman in the world today (I never understood/knew it before but but the kind word from a sister does something for the ego!!!!)
But anyhoooo...............
I'm just thankful for the board and the "high" class of people that are here!

If I didn't mention your name, its nothing personal. I'm at work (trying to look busy) and my 2 fingers can only move so fast......... flowers

Firefly, for the record, in error you attached my screen name to Honestbrother's comments, so I made the correction above.
Thanks to all those who said they appreciated my posts.
Big Grin

I appreciate,

MBM for having the site.

Empty Purnatra, because he inspires me to become more literate and eloquent when it comes to socialist movements. That brother is young AND BAD when it comes to breaking down political/economic systems!

Rowe, because she is an intelligent, strong, and inspiring sister who always posts interesting topics and fly avatars.

Kresge because he just simply amazes me with his wealth of religious and historical knowledge and has single handedly destroyed my hypothesis that all X-tians were either myopic or evil and knew better.

Honest Brother, because he let me know what it is like to actually still 'like' someone that I don't agree with all the time on something as dear to me as African History.

Ricardomath because he always sticks up for the Mexicans.

There are many others, but I can't think of exactly how to phrase my appreciation.
Fabulous--you are every bit of your name--FABULOUS! I couldn't tell you how your mature and encouraging words have been of such great help to me, especially as it relates to being secure and happy in my singlehood. You are a true gem. appl

My beloved 2XGam. Where would I be without your witty charm and humor. Don't forget our imminent nuptials. I've already gotten several offers from those large corporations willing to sponsor our ceremony and lavish reception. eyes

HoBro, HoBro, HoBro--what can I say? You've been the brother that I've never had. Listening to me vent about my Comps exam and my questioning about why I'm getting this degree (you may have to tell me again) 4 Anyway, your combination of intelligence, down to earth demeanor mixed with a little bit of ghetto is not only riveting, but it's also quite sexxxy. cabbage

Here's to the three of you, and the many friends that I have met on this board. I love you all--and just know, that you have a friend in me.

Around a week ago I was about to post an Empty Punata quote and I wish I had coz I'm darned if I can find it now. Because I was going to post beneath the quote the following: "I think Empty Punata is a true humanitarian, and truly will make a difference."

OK, that's not very eloquent, but I think you know what I'm saying. EP, you're still a young 'un now, but it will be very interesting to see what life makes of you and what you make of your life. I think you're quite a special person and if I was your mum I'd be very proud. Don't be too frightened by that thought. Big Grin Wink

And the feeling is mutual. Oh make sure those corporate sponsors put everything down as networking. We can get the family up and running with the tax break. lol
