Odd thing is, this fool has four degrees, one of them, a bachelor's degree in African Studies of all subjects! So you can imagine how shocked I was after hearing his views about African-Americans. You would think that someone having his educational background would be better informed about African History. Not surprsingly, his attitude about African-Americans is example of how some people can become once they have disassociated themselves from certain elements of society. Disgraceful.

With him, I think the emphasis was on bachelor and not the studies part...

Your story remeinded me af a kid from Jamaica that was interning where I worked...

We were engaged in converstion about something and he said that African Americans were lazy & Jamaicans are hard working... I stopped him in mid sentence and said: "what about all those unemployed MF's that are in Jamaica that sit around and wait for ships to come in so they can beg the tourists for money? You trying to tell me that they're all hard working and industrious??" He didn't have much to say after that... He assumed that I had never been to Jamaica...

*note* I am not saying that Jamaicans are lazy... so those of you who are from "Jamrock" don't be offended... I was merely pointing out that all societies have those amoung them who do not, and will not, work hard to get what they want...

Actually THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

I know that the biggest challenge to CHANGE within the Black community are the very people who claim to "Own Blackness".

To some extent they/YOU are not going to respond willingly to someone who is "agreeable" with you. You need to have a MIRROR shown to your face and will need to be CHALLENGED to change so that you can live up to what you CLAIM to aspire to.

Again I say - Why would I hold out my self-worth on a platter for someone who has shown over time to have a "measuring device" that is warped and dry rotted with bias and subjectivity? My being "nicer" and less aggitating with my presentation style full of nicities is not going to have you (especially) to change. The very fact that I am in disagreement with you is enough proof that it is ME who is "wrong".

The best that I can hope for is for YOU and others to agree to put your beliefs up for inspection and within a TIME CONSTRAINT. You can be given the floor for a set number of years to PRODUCE THE RESULTS THAT YOU CLAIM your method will produce. After a certain period of time we will INSPECT the results. Those who seek only "Unity" behind the popular mandate will continue to follow. Those who want an EFFECTIVE end will see that you only provide "Unity" and will abandon you.

STFU!!!!

First, where are those claims?
... Don't worry. Will wait 2000 years for your COWARD ASS to SUBSTANTIATE your BS claim.

But, more importantly? What in the hell are you doing talking about "Change Within The BLACK COMMUNITY"???

What happened to:
I have "power" and influence over myself and my family.

What happened to:
[I don't worry about people who I cannot change.]

Why do people insist on judging others based upon stereotypes? Nice come back!

What does THIS POINT have to do WITH BLACK PEOPLE AND OUR SENSES OF IF SOMETHING IS RIGHT OR WRONG?

CF, why is it okay for you to make constant racial comparisons between the accomplishments of African-Americans and other minorities, but it's not okay for others to do the same? I notice that you will only accept racial comparisons when it supports your argument. If you're going to measure the achievements of Blacks against the achievements of others, then expect for people to become defensive and do the same.
