As disturbing as these images are, I want to thank you for posting the link to your collection. I have used similar images in classes that I have taught in the past. In many respects, a picture can be worth a thousand words. Particularly unsettling for my students are those pictures where there are whole white families dressed up in what looks like there Sunday best, posing for pictures.

My bothers and sisters are so blind...
I have posted this messages on a fair bit of french forums (music, black communities...) and in some of them the subject has been locked!
When it'a about others misery, those bounty people cry all their guts out.
But when it's about the black holocaust "why not move on" "this is the past"...

All I could think of when I viewed the pics was what might have been if those people had lived?

What I found to be interesting was that in many of the pics the genitalia had been covered even though they were stripped nude, as though that would have more gruesome.

And they call us animals...

I would think that any in any language the pictures are horrible and disgusting. Some pictures never need words to explain the uglyness.

I was in Atlanta a few weeks back and there was a lynching exhibit at the King Center that weekend. I couldn't bring myself to go and see it then, and am still not ready to see them now.

But, I thank you for posting the link, Shaka. I will share it with others who are more ready than I. And once I am ready, I will come back.

I say 'Glory' once.

I bought them all, and they sit on the shelf. I never viewed them.

But...I need to have them in my home.

I know they are there. Knowing that helps keep me focused on the need to proactive in making sure the cannot happen again.

Knowing they are there helps keep me strong in my self-determination of my ancestral nationality.

I think I'm on the same page as JWC; until this day, I have not been able to watch more than a few minutes of "Roots" again and when I initially aired, I could not even bring myself to watch it all the way to the end---I found it too painful to even continue watching; I gathered the ending through recounts of others who have watched it all the way to the end.
So, I too, now know that I have to prep myself to view something like this.

To all those who say that they cannot see the pictures, i am not going to blast you...
But don't you guys ever think one second that it is something of the past that will never happen again.

It is very shocking, but it's reality, our reality.
We cannot remain silent, we cannot remain ignorant! People need to know the truth...

Unfortuanately, most of the posters on AA.org already know the truth--I personally have know/seen/heard so much of the truth, that I am merely saying that I need to gain my mental composure to view more horror facing people of African descent. When I am ready, I will view these pictures as well, as I sit in a world that does not care about what happens to Black people anywhere on this planet (something even most of the Black people on this planet do not know or believe) - and rack my brain as to what can ONE person like myself do to change any of it - and that's another thing that makes it hard for me. Pure frustration.

Thanks for the picture links. I've been discussing lynchings with Africans born on the continent... It is helpful to have the visual aid.
