I don't how real this is or isn't, however, the issue of translation of this type isn't new or shocking.  Much of it depends on who is doing the translating and their skill at nuanced cultural words (this cuts across languages).  

 

Interestingly enough, the Japanese language has (cultural) rules on who can and can't use what words (similar to the on going rhetorical question 'Why do Black people get mad when white people say Nigga, but we use it all the time?')

 

And like with us, breaking those rules can result in a fist fight.
