KILLER ROBOTS: The Scariest Weapons You Have Never Heard Of

Automated killer robots — robots that can kill without human intervention — are not far off, and could change the very definition of war. They should be banned immediately, says Human Rights Watch.

Killer robots that can kill without human intervention.

I find that impossible.

And based on the video, these experts IMO, would prefer the way wars are waged throughout history, in the recent past and presently with military personnel and equipment in the hundreds of thousands under total human control that kills and wounds and psychologically damages hundreds of thousands, completely destroys and rearranges entire countries/nations along with centuries of culture, customs and traditions (Iraq) causing the affected to basically start all over again because of human intervention and the thirsty government and corporate greed for ultimate power, command and control that failed miserably since the Vietnam War.

I just discussed the use of Predator Drones that many Americans complain that they are to impersonal and wrong for targeting specific enemy combatant individuals from a distance (and the fact that President Obama used them all the time) but IMO, it's more effective because:

For every unmanned Predator drone use to find, identify and eliminate specific enemy targets based on intelligence data, your eliminating the continued use of many military small unit, special operations forces personnel (teams ranging from 10 to 30 personnel), the use of all corresponding military logistics (a huge amount) needed every time for small unit sized missions including the use of expensive many military aircraft and/or US Navy/Army/Air Force/Marine assets (travel, refuel, maintenance and direct strike missions), the saving of many human lives, the non possibility of American prisoners of war or detainees and billions of dollars saved annually because using unmanned drones that multi-task, are reusable, disposable and replaceable are more cost effective and safer while being operated by military/civilian personnel tucked safely miles away out of harm's way.

And if drones weren't used, then the issue reverts back to issue of the number of dead or wounded military personnel and the losses of expensive equipment and millions wasted for doing the exact same thing that failed.

Cost of Predator Drone; program cost, estimated $2.38 billion and unit cost, $4.03 million (both annually) out weights the high possibility of high valued targeted missions not being completed, the high loss and wounded rate of military life conducting those missions and the negative aftermath that follows...that dead military member's family.

Everything can't be done (both) the George Bush's way; overwhelming military force for years in the hundreds of thousands of military personnel costing billions of dollars annually trying to find, capture or kill specific high value enemy targets.

Example: Close to a trillion dollars, ten years of war versus millions of dollars and several months of planning........Osama Bin Laden.

On the downside, manufacturing killer robots eliminate many US defense contractor jobs both public and private sector.

Killer Robots can't manufacture themselves, can't repair themselves and they can't program themselves to kill all willy nilly unless a human is involved in all aspects of it's operations and functions.

I'll assume that watching the "Terminator" movie and it's several sequels with the last one "Terminator Salvation" that displayed individual controlled killer robots in the thousands with a base computer that thought and made decisions on it's very own without human intervention (since the robots killed all the humans that built and controlled the computer) probably added to some experts's way of thinking but in the end regardless of which methods of war is more prevelant and effective in the future (or both), the same outcomes that always the end results will exist: scores of dead and wounded human beings in the thousands or millions, the overthrow and total command and control of all land, material assets and overall government control.

If they can make software good enough for cars to drive themselves then they can make killer robots.

I have been expecting them.  How about a mini-tank the size of a lawn tractor with a machine gun instead of a cannon.  Program it to kill anything the size and shape of a human within certain GPS coordinates.  It would make more sense than a mine field to a certain extent.  It could be removed and not kill and mame children years after the war is over.

The trouble with technology is that it makes certain things possible.  People still have to decide whether or not to do it.

The military always has and always will mindlessly waste millions (billions) of dollars and be carelessly irresponsible with expensive military equipment.  That's nothing new (you know how White men like their wars ... and 'money is no object' when it comes to defense spending!!  ) and that isn't going to change anytime soon!!  So I really don't care much about that.

But ... when it comes to saving and preserving the lives of our military personnel ... I'm for WHATEVER accommodates making that happen!!!  Especially when there are those that will put them in harms way under false pretenses.   For that reason, I have no problem with drones!!!

Most people's complaint about the drones is that they kill innocent civilians.  But so do soldiers, and those people don't seem to complain about that.  There's two military trials going on right now against two soldiers who have been for caught for killing civilians in Afghanistan. There's many other stories that you hear about.  And many others that you don't.

So .... drones are a win-win for me!!  They seem to kill more of 'the enemy' than hand-to-hand combat seems to.  And they've killed FAR more of the bad guys than they have innocent people.  They save the lives and limbs of American soldiers and make it so that less of them have to die or be maimed.

As long as our military are forced to be in "war zones" ... I welcome the idea of finding the safest way to for them to fight in it.

All this will be is video games in life size.  It's already done on several web sites:  miltiary similation[sp].  And I would be surprised if it becomes a reality down the line since massa really is a COWARD.  And this will be a cheap way NOT pay soldiers/families/ with benefits.  This will be a way for them to again SAVE money for themselves.  And how things are going today?  This is gonna be a reality REAL SOON!!!!  But!

Which men are you talking about?  Any idiot can shoot a machine gun.  That does not mean he can DESIGN a machine gun.

Maxim got rich helping other people kill each other.

Of course the idiot with the gun may think he is great because he can kill lots of people.

Human beings have lots of FANCY names for their deviant behaviors to make their nastiness A-OK.  When persons kill on a mass scale, they're really nothing more than mass murderers.  Gang Bangers with sophisticated, lethal weaponry.  In other words, insane human being killers, with the "go-ahead" from like-minded insane human being killers.  No more, No Less.

The military and private defense/weapon contractors have an arsenal of machines, weapons and software that are beyond the scope of the average persons comprehension and belief  If they say they have it -they probably do. Weapons are now being developed on an nano level....almost impossible to detect by very accurate and very lethal. Don't think those crazy weapons you see the James Bond or these quasi futuristic movies don't exist...they do! The Navy is currently in the process of testing a ship board mounted "laser gun". It's true....
