"An admitted ex-convict with an ongoing record of dishonesty, including underhandedly editing his posts, plagues this cyber community." by Isome

.....I have stated on numerous postings that I, and/or other family members have served time behind bars for the attrocities of a goverment gone awry, and not any form of criminal activity by Michael Lofton, and/or any family member. It has yet to be stated anywhere, where I, and/or any other family member have ever been convicts or ex-convicts. See the attached file for one of several documented and published incidents, however erroneous the information, where this actually happened to which there has yet to be a court arraignment, and/or any form of due process, to justify jail time, and/or otherwise.

"Lights out convict" by Isome

.........Isome meet a convict, convict meet Isome.

***********************

........Isome meet a convict who will more than likely be executed, and the convict to be executed meet Isome.

....more likely there are members on this board whose credibility stinks. Michael Lofton's credibility, good character, etc., is in very good standing....

Indeed, there are innocent men and women on death row, to which the advent of DNA technology has been used as supportive evidence to free the truly innocent, and to convict the truly criminal.

Although innocent men and women have served time, and continue to serve time, Michael Lofton, and/or other Lofton family members, being among the numerous law abiding and truly innocent individuals to have served time for criminal acts not committed, Tookie Williams is very removed from being among the truly innocent!

...and Tookie Williams would not be considered a Geronimo Pratt in any regard...., Geronimo Pratt being among the truly innocent, and also being an honorably discharged highly decorated with honors Vietnam War combat Veteran.....

....and Tookie Williams being as criminal as they come!

*******************

"It'll never happen ER" by Isome

....let an Isome tell it, and......, I would not be surprised if her response was it never happened. In the event such a statement is ever made, to nip it at its bud.......

.......but good for the truth, and reputable sources, such as the Los Angeles Times, policing authorities, former residents, present residents, etc., etc., a mountain of evidence exists to prove it, without any input from a Michael Lofton.

*******************

....but Cosby left out the worst part, because the leadership of Compton and South Central Los Angeles has kept these areas in poverty, which makes this a breeding ground for criminal activity, the proliferation of gangs, etc.,etc.

*********************

....For those who don't know or who are not aware.....

1. former Congressman Walter Tucker was indicted and convicted for accepting bribes, and stealing from the taxpayers of the residents of Compton.

2. former assemblywoman Pat Moore was was indicted and convicted for accepting bribes, and stealing from the taxpayers of the residents of Compton.

3. former Mayor Omar Bradley was was indicted and convicted for accepting bribes, and stealing from the taxpayers of the residents of Compton.

4. The Compton Unified School District, and Compton College have been taken over by the State of California on more than one occasion because the employees were on the take, stealing virtually anything that is not welded down. Heck so much graft, embezzlement, cheating, sleeping on the job, reporting to work while under the influence of illicit drugs, etc., etc., that it made it exceeding difficult to provide a quality educational experience, finance the purchase of textbooks for students, learning aids, provide classroom computers, maintain classrooms, bathrooms, and other facilities.

5. Killer/King Hospital and Charles Drew Medical School is on the edge of Compton, may lose its' accredidation, or face being closed down, and may lose millions of dollars in federal subsidies as a result of all the incompetence, the stealing, the greed, the sleaze, on the part of should I mention who........

6. Game playing, using false pretenses to hold elected office, Brentwood Yvonne B. Burke, no good serving foreign interests at the expense of Compton Merv Dymally, Maxine Kerosene Waters, carpetbagging caught with his pants down having lewd sex with a prostitute Assemblyman Kevin Murray, and/or other Black elected officials have known about, or contributed to this activity for decades, by remaining silent to protect personal friends, themselves, and/or to maintain the status quo.

...but Oh, well let us not be truthful. It is better to play the race card, and easier to blame Caucasians, Republicans, conservatives, to say these individuals are all at fault......

....... even though the Democratic Party, through our own misfit Black elected leaders, and poverty pimps have been large and in charge in Compton, and South Central Los Angeles, since 1965.

The employees found stealing include Black teachers, principals, other school administrators, secretaries, janitors, cafeteria workers, maintenance employees, and virtually every other classification working within Compton. Hispanics have also been found guilty of the same offenses, but the number of Hispanics caught stealing, cheating, lying, etc., from the City of Compton is not nearly as pronounced as the number Black people caught stealing from one of the most economically deprived corruption prone communities in the State of California. Mind you, many of these individuals on the take are university graduates who possess B.S., B.A., M.S., M.A., and even Doctorate Degrees.

...and the City of Compton, is very much improved, not because of Black people, but rather the Hispanic community expects accountability, and will not tolerate this activity. The businesss community has finally returned to Compton, namely due to the heavy influx of Hispanics, whose culture is family oriented, and promote the ideals of "free enterprize".

Sincerely,

Michael Lofton

I know for a fact that Gov. Swarzennegger has met in conference x2 on this same 'type' of matter--both of those cases were turned down.

Crips Founder To Get Clemency Hearing

California Gov. Arnold Swarzennegger has agreed to hold a private meeting Dec. 8 with lawyers for condemned killer Stanley 'Tookie' Williams and prosecutors to consider the gang founder's plea for clemency. "This is really good news. It's a positive sign." said Williams attorney, Verna Wefald. The co-founder of the Crips street gang is to die by injection at San Quentin prison on Dec. 13 Williams, 51, was convicted of the 1979 robbery-murders of four people but has since earned several nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work as an anti-gang activist.
It is funny how everything bad does not apply to those preoccupied with spewing self-hatred and hatred towards blacks....if one wants to examine the criminal behavior of others, then they should come to their own reality and be as hard on themselves for being criminals and not denying it.....it is amazing how people will hold others to task without examining their own moments of unethical behavior....yeah...AA doesn't help Lofton and he's an innocent criminal......amazing what categories we will try to put ourselves in to feel better than others....but that summary on the black conservative sums it all up.....and really does not clinically discuss their mental afflictions but it does show the oddity in their thinking and behavior...just like the people in here who are barely one generation out of poverty their damn selves but want to be considered a honorary white man as if they are spending big green.....they have been so deprived and have had inferiority embedded in their heads so deeply that they do not even see how their behaviors manifest themselves as a result....jim crow fucked them and their families up royally...and the scary part is....someoone might fuck up and breed with their azzes......and a sambo coming of age around 2023 is a scary thought indeed..........

...now I damn sure would not be working for one of the wealthiest utilities in the U.S., in the event I was that criminal.

....just adds to the list of nonsense Kevin41 has sent my direction, nonsense such as......

"I wonder if this guy Lofton would look over his shoulder in lilly white backwoods part of alabama at night if there were white guys walking behind him....lets see him really test his loyalty to those good ole white folks......." by Kevin41

....now I really have no reason to visit or relocate to the lilly white backwoods of Alabama or otherwise. Can't make any real money there, none of my relatives, or anyone I would want to visit lives there, so it would be pointless to make such a move or visit. Now if I were to make such a visit or move, my chances of survival would still be much greater than the risk of living in any predominately Black community.

.....and Kevin41 suggested that I move to Alabama, Mississippi, etc., etc.

......Something must not be right upstairs in the old noggin!

"The commission removed Ross after their investigation found that he engaged in a "shocking abuse of power" that led to the wrongful conviction and two-day jail stay for a woman challenging a traffic violation, Henley said."

....and who said that only racist Caucasians send or promote the unwarranted penal incarceration and fining of truly law abiding and innocent Black folk, and/or otherwise. Can't be true because no good former Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kevin Ross is black and university educated. Judge "Hang them High" Ross made the recommendation to wrongfully convict, jail, and fine an innocent woman for a minor traffic violation. But Oh, well its still all the fault of racist Caucasians, President Bush, the Republican Party, those UTs, the never can prove where Michael Lofton has ever been criminal crowd, Howdy Doo Dee, Smoky Jokey, Sammy the Sambo, secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, Wadley the Wadler, etc., etc.
....so glad that I lead an ethical and law abiding lifestyle, to prevent anyone from publishing anything negative about a Michael Lofton, that sticks,

....another fine example in a misfit from the so called university educated being former Superior Court Judge Kevin Ross.

oh....I guess I am supposed to believe that a workforce of 40,000+ (City) has no criminals in it...and that the background checks are the same for all departments....I guess those at LAX get those FBI fingerprinting andbackground checks AFTER being hired and on the job.....because it makes em look more important...than the DWP types.............
Has anyone watched the cartoon "Boondocks"? There is this old self-hating azz negro that attributes everything great to being white and talks about niggas as criminals and thugs and nothing much else....he praises white people until he gets breathless...but still wonders why he has never been able to go through the front door for 20 years.....I guess a negro who has never had shit would be inclined to think a little is a whole lot....the resemblance is uncanny...especially the long-winded diatribe about how sorry niggas are and how they are responsible for crime......I wonder where Aaron did his character research..........man it must be awful to hate what you see while in the mirror alone....and truly believe that you are inferior...therefore everyone that looks like you must be also.....wow.

......must not be, because I have been working them for well over twenty years, and since I had nothing to hide to begin with, I even included the case number, and the counter-claim filed for the unwarranted and unearned arrest and jailing for 148 PC on the basis of lies perpetrated by the Inglewood Police Department!

It matters not what a Kevin41 believes or not, because I already know where I stand, because my record is very clean, no past criminal period, and the misguided thoughts of a few members of AfricanAmerica.org can't make me fit the description.

I try my best not to commit any criminal action that would send me here. This is what separates me from that misfit set!

...In addition I keep record of all the tickets for any traffic citation ever received, so that the LA County Court system can't come my direction twice, and a Michael Lofton, not have the evidence to show proof of payment. Without proof, it is not uncommon for the government to exercise its authority to come around to demand payment for the same identical traffic citation again, again, again, and again.

When it comes to collecting revenue that it is not entitled to, the government can be far worse than any welfare queen, or any welfare recipient. The inscription on the Dollar bill gives the government all the extra unentitled power it needs, as stated on every dollar bill, "In God We Trust", nothing is ever stated where anyone should trust in man, woman, any group of individuals, any organization, and/or any government authority.

....nah, not I, more likely someone else is full of B.S., mentally unbalanced, off track, etc., etc.

New Evidence as reported by Dr. Earl OFARI Hutchinson needs fair consideration in defense of "Tookie"--whose sentence was decided by 'an all white jury' and whose news reports/editorials are heard via 'an all white media'.

How can anyone give a cut and dry indictment of "Tookie" knowing that the justice system is racist in and of itself...?

Fine

"Arnold is really caught in a bind," said author and political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson. "He's up for re-election next year and he's not going to win without iron-clad support from his conservative base. And when you look at the climate, California is still a death penalty state. I can't see a win-win for Arnold Schwarzenegger granting clemency to Tookie Williams. It doesn't fly. Tookie Williams, to be brutally frank, is doomed."

Timeline--of "Tookie" Williams
http://www.streetgangs.com/magazine/102605tookie.php

December 29, 1953: Stanley Williams was born in New Orleans from a 17-year old mother.

1956: Williams moved to South Los Angeles with his mother.

December 1969: Raymond "Truck" Washington begins the "Cribs," the group that later becomes the East Side Crips near Fremont High School.

1971: Stanley Tookie Williams, joined with Raymond Washington starting what would later be known as the West Side Crips. [For a detailed history on the LA Crips]

February 28, 1972: The first reference to the gangs Crips is made in the Los Angeles Times regarding the beating death of a Orr [pdf] , a white male visiting South LA on Figueroa.

March 21, 1972: Shortly after a concert at the Hollywood Palladium, Robert Ballou Jr. and his companions were attacked by twenty youths who were identified as Crips. They beat Ballou Jr. to death after he refused to relinquish his leather jacket. Ballou Jr., who was not a gang member, attended Los Angeles High School and played on the football team. According to the LAPD, the group that assaulted him fled the scene with five leather jackets and two wallets from Ballou Jr. and his friends. A few days later, nine youths were arrested for murder, including eighteen-year-old Ricardo Sims, considered the city's best high school track athlete. This was the first murder committed by the Crips, and the very beginings of the deep criminal aspect of the group.

December 1974: LAPD reported that there were 70 gang related homicides that year.

February 28, 1979: Approximately 10:30 p.m. Williams, went to Alfred Coward's (aka Blackie) house. The two went to the home of James Garrett (where Williams was staying) and they went inside, returning with a sawed-off shotgun. He was accompanied by a man named Darryl, who was wearing a brown corduroy jacket. The three men made several stops, including one to obtain "Sherms" (cigarettes containing phencyclidene (PCP)). They all shared a Sherm cigarette, and then picked up Tony Simms, who was dressed in a green jogging suit and a cap. Williams shared a second Sherm with Coward and Simms, and asked Simms if he knew where he could "make money" in Pomona.

According to the DA, after two unsuccessful robbery attempts, Williams, 25, robbed a 7-Eleven at 10437 Whittier Blvd., Pico Rivera, a small suburban town east of Los Angeles along with Simmons and Darryl. Albert Owens, 26, the store clerck was shot two times with a 12 gage shotgun after being ordered into the cold box by Williams. A third shot was fired into the the video surveillance system. Owens was the father of two. Williams is believed to have stolen between $60.00 - $122.00.

March 11, 1979: Williams was accused of killing Robert Yang's family, his mother, father and sister. Williams stole about $100.00, but before leaving. This all occurred in Robert Yang's Brookhaven Motel on South Vermont Street near Century Blvd in Los Angeles. According to the muder investigation, Stanley Tookie Williams and 1 companion entered the motel, a small family-run business, and forced their way into the living quarters of Tsai-Shen Yang, 63, her husband Yen-Yi Yang, 63, and their daughter Ye-Chen Lin, 43. Armed with a 12 gage shotgun, Williams shot Tsai once in the upper body, and once in the base of her spine, killing her instantly. Yen-Yi was shot twice in the upper body, and Ye-Chin was shot once in the head. Both father and daughter died within hours at local hospitals. Williams and his companion took what cash they could find (Estimated at $50-$100) before fleeing.

March 13, 1979: According to James Garrett, Williams told them that some Chinese people had been killed on Vermont Street. Williams told them that he thought a professional killer must have done it. Williams then started making statements about the murder, with inside knowledge about the crimes, which had yet to be released to the public. He said that he heard the murder occurred at 5 am and that two men knocked down the door and had taken $600.00. Williams then said he heard the guy lying on the couch was "blown away", a woman at the register was shot twice and another woman was also shot. Williams then admitted to Garrett that it was he, who had done the murderers. Williams later talked about committing another motel robbery and Garrett tried to talk him about of it, stating there were too many people who stayed at the hotel. Williams then told Garrett, "No problem," he said, "I'll blow them away like I blew them away in the motel." Williams also expressed to Garrett the idea of killing Alfred Coward.

Sheriff''s Homicide Detectives Jack Fueglein and Barry Jones were assigned the case in Pico Rivera, and Sergeant Gene Hetzel and Detective James Solar were assigned the triple-murder at the motel. The fact that Williams had killed 4 innocent people in 12 days apparently shocked even associates of the killer as numerous tips were received from the community. A similar shotgun was recovered and was matched ballistically to both murders after a test revealed that it didn't match. The detectives stated that some of Williams' co-conspirators, told them that he never permitted robbery victims to live to become witnesses against him.

April 1979: According the the DA, George Oglesby, fellow inmate to Williams was approached with an escape plan complete with drawings. Williams also planned to kill a person on the bus who would testify against him with the assistance of two people on the outside. Williams talked about disarming a guard during the transfer from jail to court. The plan was later modified to blow up the bus to give him more time before authorities determined who had escaped. Williams also admitted to Oglesby that he robbed some people and shot a man, a woman and a child.

June 12, 1979:According to the DA, the first target date for the escape between Oglesby and Williams. According to court documents and notes written between Ogelsby and Williams, the plan was aborted because Williams had no way of arranging to get Oglesby to court at the same time.

August 1979: Raymond Washington, the original founder of the Crips was murdered as he approached a car of people he knew. As he approached the car, the passenger shot him once killing him right there. No one was ever arrested for his murder and there are two theories why he was murdered. 1) During the 1970s when the Crips were growing, Washington was inprisoned and upon his release, he vowed that he would bring these warring gangs together under one umbrella. Because of his efforts towards peace, we was murdered. 2) He was being blamed for killings that newer Crip members had committed. Ten years later, Washington had little to no control over the gangs but because he was the founder, he was being blamed. In the early 70s he was well respected as a strong fearless fighter, but by the end of the 1970s, the increased use of guns, which Washington was always against, was considered his responsiblity. It was decided that Washington should be killed. The film tells the story of the founding of the Crips.

Washington, never shot anyone and never used a gun. He was old school and felt that all disputes should be handled by fists.

January 21, 1980: Williams requests a change in attorneys. We wanted to replace Gerry Lenoir with attorney Joe Ingber.

March 13, 1980: Williams hires attorney Joe Ingber and his associate Steven Ehrlich.

March 13, 1981:Williams is found guilty on all all counts including 4 murders.

April 15, 1981: Williams is sentenced to death for the 4 murders of Albert Owens, 26, Tsai-Shen Yang, 63, her husband Yen-Yi Yang, 63, and their daughter Ye-Chen Lin, 43. During the trial, the prosecutor, Robert Martin, found reasons to dismiss the only three black members of the jury pool and constructed a closing argument describing Williams, shackled in the defendant's box, as a "Bengal tiger in captivity in a zoo" and said the jury needed to imagine him in his natural "habitat" which was like "going into the back country, into the hinterlands". In two subsequent cases, Martin was rebuked by the California appeals courts for using race as a criterion in jury selection and had two murder convictions overturned on those grounds.

April 11, 1988: On automatic appeal, People v. Williams (1988) on Habeas Corpus 44 C3d 1127 is filed on Williams' behalf. The death sentence was affirmed and his first habeas petition was denied.

October 10, 1988: Williams is stabbed by Tiequon Aundray Cox (aka Lil Fee), a Rolling 60s Crip member, and death row inmate sentenced to death for 4 murders committed in 1984 when he was 18 years old.

October 19, 1988: Williams is transfered to solitary confinement or adminstrative segregation in San Quentin Prison where he spends the next 6 years. According to Williams, it was during this period is where his first steps towards change took place.

January 18, 1989: The California Supreme Court denies Williams' second state habeas corpus petition (Case No. S008526)

July 6, 1993: Williams is disciplined at San Quentin Prison for his involvement in a fight. This is that last time Williams was disciplined for his behavior by all official accounts.

1993: Barbara Becnel, a journalist at the time, begins communications with Williams. She would visit him at San Quentin and later assist him in all his publications. Some say that Becnel is the author behind the books by Williams, but she has insisted that the books are all Williams' idea.

Williams agrees to do a video tape interview in support of the 1992 Los Angeles Watts gang truce

April 11, 1994: The People v. Williams (1994) 7 C4th 572 habeas corpus petetion filed on behalf of Stanley Tookie Williams, where they ordered a second evidentiary hearing and reappointed Judge Paul Egly. They ultimately denied the petition and rejected the "jail house informant" issues raised by the petioner. They based their rejection on the testimony of Alfred Coward (aka Blackie), Samuel Coleman, and both James and Esther Garrett who all testified that Stanley "Tookie" Williams admitted to the shootings and killins. A 5th person, jailhouse informant, George Oglesby, also known as "Gunner" and a convicted murdered, was referenced their opinion.

The petition shows that Oglesby was often used by Lieutenant Fitzgerald, a member of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office as a "snitch" going back to 1977, and that some of his previous statements were fabricated according to his own audio conversations. Williams planned to call Oglesby as a witness but he died in prison one day before the hearing was scheduled to begin.

April 9, 1997: The domian name, http://www.tookie.com, is purchased on Williams' behalf.

April 13, 1997: Williams post His Apology on his web site denouncing many of his past actions.

August 1997: PowerKids Press publishes a series of childrens books written by Williams. In these books, he encourages readers to learn from his mistakes and his experiences in gang life. Some of the titles of this series include, Gangs and Violence , Gangs and Weapons , and Gangs and Abuse of Power .

1998: Williams' books led to the Internet Project for Street Peace, an afterschool violence prevention program.

April 14, 1998:Barbara Cottman Becnel, Executive Director, Institute for the Prevention of Youth Violence, was interviewed on the Larry Elder show on KABC Talk Radio, AM 790 (in Los Angeles). Ms. Becnel has been an advocate for Williams and the co-author on many of his books.

July 1, 1998: Around this time, Williams' website, http://www.tookie.com, is gaining much popularity. On it, you can order Tookie Speaks, gang books for children, read his Apology, and email Williams, that are fowarded to Barbara Becnal.

1999: Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, former African National Congress Women's League president, and ex-wife of Nelson Mandela, visited Williams at San Quentin because she was inspired by the Internet project.

July 7, 2000: Williams receives letter from the Department of Corrections, San Quentin Prison, that "identifying you as a member of the Crip street gang was ordered removed from your file [pdf 600k]" signed by J.S. Woodford, Warden

November 18, 2000: Stanley "Tookie" Williams's international work for at-risk kids has been nominated for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2001. The nomination was made to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee in Oslo, Norway, by a member of the Swiss Parliament, Mario Fehr. Discussing Williams's radical work in the books for youth which are co-authored by Barbara Becnel, Fehr said, "I think he has done extraordinary work. For these young kids in street gangs, I think it is one of the only opportunities to get close to them...get them out of the street gangs."

Wes McBride writes letter to the Nobel Committee in opposition to Williams' nomination for the Peace prize. McBride is the head of the California Gangs Investigators Association and is a well resepected gang cop with over 30 years experience with gangs in Los Angeles

March 13, 2001: The Final Call published article by Williams entitled

November 1, 2001: Stanley Williams v. Jeanne Woodard, Warden, United Stated Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, Argued November 8, 2001 in Portland, Oregan, filed on September 10, 2002 and amended on September 9, 2004.

February 2002: Williams is nominated for Nobel Peace Prize, He lost to President Jimmy Carter. There were 117 individuals and 39 groups nominated for the Peace Prize in 2002. Other nominees included Afghan President Hamid Karzai, US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

September 10, 2002: The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals posited its decision denying Williams' claims, but stated that Tookie's prison writings, in which he renounces his former life as a gangster, could be grounds for the California governor to grant him clemency (Case no. 99-99018 and 00-99001). Judges suggest clemency by governor.

February 2, 2005: The Ninth Circuit Court rejects Williams' last appeal but they took the unprecedented step of urging the governor to grant clemency. A majority of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals voted 15-to-9 to declined an 11-judge en banc group to reconsider an earlier ruling from a 9th Circuit three-judge panel. The decision produced a relatively rare dissent but the minority issued a blistering dissent, condemning "blatant, race-based jury selection" in Williams' original trial because all the Black jurors were removed from the case. The prosecutor, Robert Martin tried the case in Torrance, a predominantly white, conservative area by an all-white jury. Ninth Circuit Judge Johnnie Rawlinson, an African-American appointed by President Clinton, wrote the dissent. She pointed out that the L.A. County prosecutor in the case, Robert Martin, was "publicly castigated by the Supreme Court of California for his pattern of racially motivated peremptory jury challenges." The 9th Circuit order means that Williams could be executed as early as this summer, said Dane Gillette, California's senior assistant attorney general who oversees death penalty cases. The last hurdle would be an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, he said.

New Evidence as reported by Dr. Earl OFARI Hutchinson needs fair consideration in defense of "Tookie"--whose sentence was decided by 'an all white jury' and whose news reports/editorials are heard via 'an all white media'.

Not only that, but the prosecutor used incredibly racist language during the trial (after having the trial moved to a white suburb and rejecting both Blacks in the jury pool). He called Tookie a "Bengali tiger" who, in his "habitat" of LA, would kill just as the tiger does in the jungle.

I don't see any reason we should believe Tookie is guilty of the murders he was convicted of. I also think the reason California is rushing to kill him is that they want to do away with the example of someone on death row who has turned his life around. If death row inmates can contribute positively to society, what does that say about the need for the death penalty?

Moreover, they want to kill him in December because in January, the legislature will vote on whether to hold a moratorium until various problems with California's death row, including its vicious racism, are investigated. And they want a sucessful execution of a famous death row prisoner in California because Kevin Cooper's execution was averted last year due to an activist campaign that revealed the immense racism and injustice of the case.

In this context, I think we have to see this execution as part of a project of rehabilitating the death penalty despite widespread recognition of its problems. I think everyone should join the fight to save Tookie.

The Apology

Twenty-five years ago when I created the Crips youth gang with Raymond Lee Washington in South Central Los Angeles, I never imagined Crips membership would one day spread throughout California, would spread to much of the rest of the nation and to cities in South Africa, where Crips copycat gangs have formed. I also didn't expect the Crips to end up ruining the lives of so many young people, especially young black men who have hurt other young black men.
Raymond was murdered in 1979. But if he were here, I believe he would be as troubled as I am by the Crips legacy.

So today I apologize to you all -- the children of America and South Africa -- who must cope every day with dangerous street gangs. I no longer participate in the so-called gangster lifestyle, and I deeply regret that I ever did.

As a contribution to the struggle to end child-on-child brutality and black-on-black brutality, I have written the Tookie Speaks Out Against Gang Violence children's book series. My goal is to reach as many young minds as possible to warn you about the perils of a gang lifestyle.

I am no longer "dys-educated" (disease educated). I am no longer part of the problem. Thanks to the Almighty, I am no longer sleepwalking through life.

I pray that one day my apology will be accepted. I also pray that your suffering, caused by gang violence, will soon come to an end as more gang members wake up and stop hurting themselves and others.

I vow to spend the rest of my life working toward solutions.

Amani (Peace),

Fine
Please don't patronize, I will just have to live with the curse of being a bubba type from Texas (so long as I am not required to listen to country music).

As far as research goes what exactly are you refering to? Tookie creating the Crips, and waking up one day to say "SHIT I created a monster let's write children's stories to sort this shit out. Hey kids gangs is bad don't join. OOOpps I forgot to tell my son the same thing. Thank goodness the prison had an extra cell so we could get some family time."

Look if he was serious about redemption, he would have spilled the beans to the police and assisted in the dismantling of the gangs. Did he do this? NOT, cause Tookie aint no sell out.

He created a monster and it was in his power to destroy it but he did not.As far as i am concerned his actions or inaction has lead to the deaths of thousands (yes, conceded not on the scale of the government but none the less it resulted in the deaths of members of the black community and it continues to this day) So I say it's time for Tookie to pay for his crimes against his people.

Fine- leave the mind reading to the experts Smile

Often immitated , never duplicated tfro
Here are some facts:

  • Fingerprints were found at both crime scenes, but they were not Stan's. These fingerprints have never been identified.

  • A bloody boot print left near the victim at one of the crime scenes was not Stan's. This boot print has never been identified.

  • A shotgun shell found at that crime scene was said to be from a gun purchased by Stan five years earlier. But the gun was, in fact, found under the bed of two people – a husband and wife facing felony insurance fraud charges and who were also under investigation for murdering their own crime partner. This husband-and-wife crime team did not serve any prison time and their murder investigation was dropped after they testified that Stan "volunteered" a confession to them.

  • The "star" witness at Stan's trial – a white man and longtime felon who was placed in a nearby cell while Stan awaited trial and was years later discovered to have been a paid police informant – also testified that Stan "volunteered" a confession to him. But nearly 20 years after Stan's trial it was discovered that a Los Angeles police officer had left a copy of the police murder file involving Stan's case in this informant's cell for overnight study. The next day the murder file was picked up by that same officer, and the informant informed the police that Stan had volunteered a confession to him. In return for this testimony, the informant – who himself was facing the death penalty for rape, murder and mutilation – was given a lesser sentence that allowed him the possibility of parole and freedom.

Recent history records case after case just like Tookie's, where no physical evidence links the convicted to the crime and after decades in prison, the truth comes out. In some cases, the truth comes out after the convicted is murdered by the state.

There's no way in hell the victim's family can feel comfort in knowing that the wrong person died for the crime against their relative, so it's baffling to hear people with no interest in finding out the facts of the case use the family's grief as support for their bloodlust.

Stanley Tookie Williams

LIES SO pervade the campaign waged to "save" convicted killer Stanley Tookie Williams that Williams and company don't even bother to cover their tracks when they say things they know aren't true.

So, as Williams' Dec. 13 execution date looms and supporters are pressing Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to grant him clemency, the Death Row inmate claimed in an interview Monday with MSNBC's fatuous Rita Cosby that he was convicted by an "all-white jury." That's not true, and Williams knows it.

In fact, Williams' own clemency lawyers have stipulated that the jury that convicted him in the 1979 murders of Albert Owens, Yen-I Yang, Tsai-Shai Yang and Yee Chen Lin during two armed robberies was not all-white. In the clemency petition, Williams' latest set of lawyers argued that prosecutor Robert Martin had kicked all African Americans off the jury. When prosecutors produced a death certificate that showed that juror William McLurkin was black, the lawyers noted in a reply that it doesn't matter if McLurkin was black or part-black, because he "looked Filipino."

Hello. That's not white. Williams' own Web site (http://www.tookie.com) features a fact sheet that, while asserting that no African Americans were on the jury, stipulates a Filipino and Latino served on the jury.

Why did Williams say something that he knew wasn't true? I just figure he knew he could get away with it.

In the MSNBC transcript of the Cosby interview, Williams, a co-founder of the Crips gang in South Central Los Angeles when a teenager, said, "I never ordered, nor have I initiated, any killings on my part, period."

The not-guilty-of-murder quote flies in the face of the clemency petition's "atonement" claim. To wit: Williams "has accepted responsibility, repented and done whatever he could, from where he is, to atone."

No: Williams has done whatever he could to seem to apologize while dodging any consequences of admitting his crimes.

Let me add a few things you may not know: The not all-white jury convicted Williams after his alibi defense crumbled. Also, jurors had learned of Williams' plans for an armed escape from jail. The jury foreman testified that when the guilty verdict was announced, Williams mouthed this threat to the panel: "I'm going to get each and every one of you mother -- ."

Over the years as he appealed his conviction, his appellate lawyers claimed that Williams did not receive adequate counsel because his trial lawyer did not use a diminished capacity defense, as Williams was brain-damaged -- due to drug abuse, mental illness and head injuries. An appellate judge weighed in, "A mental-state defense would have contradicted (the alibi) defense by conceding petitioner's presence at the scenes of the murders." Despite numerous appeals, various courts -- including the liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals -- continued to uphold his conviction.

His lawyers now laud Williams because he "refuses to make a false confession, knowing it could benefit him penally, (which) shows the strength of his character." What, then, of his character on the brain-damage dodge -- an odd defense for a man whom supporters hail as a jailhouse philosopher and co-author of children's books?

Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo told me he sees Williams' legacy as one of "death and violence" -- with more than 300 gang-related homicides in Los Angeles alone each year. "No matter how he tries to distance himself from violent gangs, he helped create them," Delgadillo noted.

Crediting Williams for denouncing gangs is sort of like praising tobacco companies for their anti-smoking campaigns.

Should Schwarzenegger grant clemency? Delgadillo said: "I think the justice system has done its job and a jury of his peers found him guilty." (In plain talk: No clemency.)

Williams' lawyers also say the clemency petition only asks for life without parole. That is technically true -- and entirely misleading. Considering Williams' many claims to MSNBC's Rita Cosby that he is "innocent," and that "being able to live, it would allow me to prove my innocence." That can only mean one thing: That after the execution is stayed, Williams will spend years filing more appeals. He won't be satisfied with a life behind bars. He wants out.

Back in 2000, when Swiss legislator Mario Fehr nominated Williams for the Nobel Peace Prize, Fehr told me over the phone that Williams "might not even have killed those four people. I don't know what he did 20 years ago." Fehr, you see, wanted to send the message to young people "that no matter what mistakes you have made in your life, you can change for the better."

The Tookie-philes are so filled with their own uplifting message that they are participating in a campaign to free a convicted killer. They can't really care that Williams gunned down four innocent people -- not when they are willing to embrace his lies and abet a cold-blooded killer's bid to go free.

and so it continues.... Smile
Interesting, in that whole article there is nothing that addresses the ABSENCE of physical evidence or the witnesses against him who were facing felony charges.

Atone? Atone for creating a violent gang. Doesn't sound complex, but in the quest to make someone guilty of one crime because of their past crimes everything is distorted.

There's an interesting case from Chicago that I just read about. Some poor schulbs, poor, ignorant, one of them borderline retarded, tried to get reward money by claiming to have heard information about the heinous killing of a little girl. They wound up spending more than 12 years in prison, most on death row, because of the sentiment garnered by the crime. There was no physical evidence linking them to that crime either.

The man who actually did it, was just indicted.

--you bring up an issue that is so common place in America. There are in fact thousands of black men in jail ['for no reason'] save for the fact that they are black...

--Could Tookie be one of this variety? Hmmm.
--Thugs are "usually" not repentent.
--Thugs don't get nominated for Nobel Peace Prizes

Fine

off
Side Thought--it is a Blaq fact that more Black men went to jail under NAACP Image Award Winning Clinton than Ronald Reagan.

I remember how Clinton politically assassinated Sistah Souljah -- http://blog.letsfreedc.org/email.php?blogid=497 -- and I also remember that the blaq collective said not a word, but rather shuffled and grinned along with Clinton...

********************

I need to rethink my praise of this fool. Yes, the economy was great and we were not at war, but know that Clinton is on the good side of HG...

Uh thugs are known for beating people senseless out on the street....Tookie

Thugs are known for curbing people....Tookie

Thugs are known for attacking people for no just cause.....Tookie

I heard about Tookie as a kid and no one wanted to run across this cat on the streets because he would not hesitate to destoy you if he felt like it. Bloods feared him, Crips feared him.

So nah Tookie's is not an angel. That said, knowing Cali's court systems where poor African Americans are convicted until proven innocent, I can't say that he was probably set up by people out of fear of him. Still as a former banger, no telling how many bodies Tookie has on him that people do not know about.

But he has worked hard to denounce everything, but my questioning is was it for him or out of sincerity to keep others off his path?

Still I have my own personal dislike for the man, BUT in this case I feel he should at least have his sentence reduced to life in prison with out parole.....why? Because I think his death would instantly mark an increase in death on the streets as well as a prison unrest as well.

I think that they are going to kill him anyway, but if they logically looked at it, they would give him a stay.

Daley May Testify In Police Torture Trials Lawsuits Brought By Four Former Death Row Inmates

(AP) CHICAGO A federal magistrate says Chicago Mayor Richard Daley may have to testify in civil lawsuits brought by former death row inmates who allege police used torture when interrogating suspects.

But US Magistrate Judge Geraldine Soat Brown said yesterday she'll rule in January on Daley's attorneys' request for a protective order that would prevent a deposition of the mayor.

The lawsuits were brought by four former death row inmates pardoned by former Governor George Ryan in 2003. They allege officers in the 1980s tortured suspects to get confessions.

The suits name the city and former police officials.

Brown says she won't allow the plaintiffs to depose Daly just for show. But she says any public official can be forced to testify in civil lawsuits.

There is no correlation between the above response and the part of my post that you quoted. Where is the physical evidence and how much stock should be placed in testimony from people whose felony charges are subsequently dropped after testifying for the state?

Tookie's sainthood isn't an issue, but his guilt and the lack of physical evidence linking him to these murders is. Knowing the justice system is rife with abuses (and death sentences) that so closely parrallel Tookie's, logically, everyone should be against his execution. There is no definitive proof of his guilt of this crime -- the one he's been sentenced to death for -- and if he's executed, but later found to be innocent, there will be no justice for the victims or their families.

It is a simple moral truth that we must apply the same standard to ourselves as we do to others.

For arguments sake, let's agree with the jury that Tookie is guilty of murder. For that, we condemn him to death and by doing so, condemn ourselves.

Or...

There is a name used frequently in the Gospels for those who apply to others standards they refuse to accept for themselves.

If something is wrong for others to do, than it is wrong for us to do it, also.

Pace Tua- you assume that everyone subscribes to the same belief system or has the same moral values.

Many believe that life starts at conception and others at birth. If life is life then by your yard stick abortion should be outlawed as well as cp.

The strange twist I find is that liberals support abortion and conservatives the death penalty so neither has the right to moral superiority.

If there are laws for which the punishment is death then I have little sympathy for someone who breaks the law. Tookie was a man when he made his choices to kill not once but four times. He has had well over twenty years much more then his victims and their families. He still has to account for his gang legacy, and that marker is too large to cover by writing children's books- clearly his son did not read the books or learn from his father as he has a cell in the same prison.

If there were alternatively truley just punishments ie prison in Siberia building roads to no where I might be inclined to do away with CP but this is unlikely. It sticks in my craw that killers gets 3 meals per day, tv, phones, books, an education and a roof over their evil heads while they deny these basics to other law abiding citizens.

So fry his assss
so you just rule out the possbility how a guy like this could be used in gang aversion efforts? I am pretty sure people from that element would respect and hold the words of this guy in more regard than they would mine in a gang-aversion seminar given by my frat. And that is what kills me about society....black men get herded into jails like cattle and no one really gives a fuck about their rehabilitation and subsequent integration back into a working society.....it seems like the industrial complex needs bodies....and everyone else just wants to sit back and garner some level of satisfaction by saying, "see I told you that is how they are", and then feeling better about their sorry azz everage selves because they have someone to look down upon......and that is why I spit at those...who tell me to be patritic and feel some sense of nationalism here......fuck them....treat me like a full citizen first..........

I assume no such thing. Read the post again. And to paraphrase a quote from another topic, can you keep multiple issues separate in your mind?

To achieve a minimal moral standard, it is important to insist that if some act is wrong when others do it, it is wrong when we do it.

If it is wrong for you to kill, then it is wrong for me. It is elementary morality, is above legal distinctions, and includes the corporate state.

A Strong Argument for the Death Penalty

By Debra Saunders

Clarence Ray Allen provides the strongest argument I've seen for the death penalty. Allen is slated to be executed on Jan. 17. He ordered the death of several witnesses who had testified against him from prison while he was serving a sentence of life without parole for the murder of another witness. As a result, three innocent people are dead. They've been dead for 25 years.

"This is probably the paradigm of a death-penalty case, in which really no lesser punishment would be appropriate," noted state Deputy Attorney General Ward Campbell last week.

The ugly saga starts in 1974. Allen owned a security company. According to court documents, he enlisted the help of his own son Roger and two employees to rob Fran's Market, a store east of Fresno owned by the Schletewitz family, whom Allen had known for years.

Roger Allen invited the Schletewitz son, Bryon, to a party. While Bryon was swimming, someone took his keys. The Allen gang robbed the store. Later, Roger's 17-year-old girlfriend, Mary Sue Kitts, confessed to Bryon that she helped cash money orders stolen from the market.

Bryon confronted Roger Allen and also confirmed that Kitts had told him what happened.

Clarence Ray Allen then ordered that Kitts be murdered. Between threatening phone calls from Allen, an accomplice strangled the poor girl. When Bryon learned Kitts was missing, he went to authorities.

After a 1977 trial, a jury convicted Allen of burglary, conspiracy and first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life without parole.

In Folsom State Prison, Allen cooked up a scheme to kill the witnesses who testified against him so that he could appeal his conviction and then be freed because any witnesses were dead -- or scared silent. After Allen's buddy, Billy Ray Hamilton, was paroled, Allen's other son supplied Hamilton with guns and ammo.

Accompanied by a girlfriend, Hamilton visited Fran's Market, brandished a sawed-off shotgun and led Bryon and other employees into the stockroom as he searched for a safe. As the Fresno Bee reported, Hamilton shot Bryon to death.

He killed Douglas White, 18. Then he shot a crying Josephine Rocha, 17, through the heart, lung and stomach.

"When you hear the details, it's hard," Teresa Daniele, Rocha's big sister, told me over the phone. Some 25 years later, "it's still very raw." Hamilton also shot a 17-year-old clerk, who was left for dead but miraculously survived, and a neighbor who heard the shotgun blasts and went to investigate. After being shot, the neighbor then shot Hamilton.

Days later, a wounded Hamilton was arrested while robbing a liquor store. Police found a list of names and information for eight people who had testified against Allen, including Bryon Schletewitz and his father, Ray Schletewitz.

In 1982, a jury convicted Allen and sentenced him to Death Row. (A jury also sent Hamilton to Death Row.) The evidence had been overwhelming. As U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Kim McLane Wardlaw wrote in a three-judge Ninth Circuit court decision that rejected Allen's appeal, the most damning evidence "came directly from Allen."

First, there was the list and the fact that Allen's son helped Hamilton. Then, there was the fact that Allen had been vocal in letting people know he would kill any "rat." As Wardlaw wrote: "By committing a capital crime while having already been maximally punished and while behind walls thought to protect society, Allen has proven that he is beyond redemption and that he will continue to pose a threat to society."

And: Allen "has shown himself more than capable of arranging murders from behind bars. If the death penalty is to serve any purpose at all, it is to prevent the very sort of murderous conduct for which Allen was convicted."

While Allen showed no mercy for his victims, the system has been quite kind to Allen. Three execution dates were set -- then stayed. In September, Allen had a heart attack, then angioplasty. With his execution looming, he may yet have open-heart surgery.

Now, his attorney, Michael Satris, is using Allen's old age -- which his victims failed to attain -- and poor health as a reason to put off the execution. I kid you not. Satris argued: "Allen's health is too fragile for the setting of an execution date at this time because of the risk that the setting of a date and the procedures that will attend such will cause him to have a heart attack."

Meanwhile, the families of his victims are dying off. Allen has outlived Josephine's father, Joseph Rocha, and Douglas White's brother, George. I'm told that the Kitt parents are dead. Bryon's mother, Fran, died in 2002. His father wanted to witness Allen's execution, but died in March. Bryon's sister is the only surviving member of the family. She wants to see justice done.

If Allen is executed as scheduled, the sister, Patricia Pendergrass, told me, "there finally will be truth in sentencing, even though so many years have passed." She thinks of the "very vicious, cruel death" forced upon Bryon and Josephine and Douglas, and sees Allen's execution as infinitely kinder.

If the state can't execute a man who has killed innocent people from prison while serving a life sentence without parole for murder, then no one is safe.

Except Clarence Ray Allen.

Vincent Moto

Convicted of: Rape
State: Pennsylvania
Served: 8 years
Released: 1996
Compensated by State: NO
Current Status: Unemployed
Health Insurance: No

  • Then: Vincent Moto was pushing his baby son in a stroller down a Philadelphia street in 1985, when a woman passed him on the street and accused him of being one of two assailants who had raped her five months earlier. Vincent was put on trial and convicted on the basis of the victim's identification. After ten and a half years in prison, DNA testing excluded Vincent as the source of the biological evidence that led to his conviction. He was released from prison with no apology from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, nor compensation for the time he lost in prison. His conviction remains on the books.

Michael Evans

Convicted of: Rape and Murder
State: Illinois
Served: 27 years
Released: 2003
Compensated by State: No
Current Status: Unemployed and housing with family
Health Insurance: No

  • Then: Gerald Ford was still the President when Michael Evans and another teenager were convicted of a rape and murder they knew nothing about. Each was 17 years old, and each was sentenced to 200 to 400 years in prison. After spending twenty-seven years in the Illinois prison system, DNA confirmed his innocence.

  • Now: Having left his South Side Chicago neighborhood as a teen, Mr. Evans returned as a middle-aged man. Although he had enrolled in prison programs to complete his high school diploma, he was unable to do so because the constant vigilance he maintained to protect his life in prison interfered with his studies. Currently living with his sister, Mr. Evans has yet to receive the meager compensation the state of Illinois offers an exoneree after twenty-seven years of imprisonment, Mr. Evans is looking for work. Imprisoned before he knew how to drive, he is in the process of completing driver's education so that he does not have to travel to remote job locations on public transportation. Thus far, his employment has been limited to the fast food industry.
a white man, if they do it to him, what chance does a Black man have

Calvin Willis

Convicted of: Aggravated Rape
State: Louisiana
Served: 22 years
Released: 2003
Compensated by State: No
Current Status: Unemployed and unable to afford housing
Health Insurance: No

  • Then: In 1981, Calvin Willis was convicted and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for a rape he did not have anything to do with. He spent the next twenty-two years in Louisiana's infamous Angola State Prison. The dedication of his family and long-time advocate Janet Gregory helped secure DNA testing of the physical evidence in the case. DNA testing excluded Mr. Willis as the perpetrator, and he was set free.

  • Now: When Calvin Willis finally went home, it was 2003 and home was his grandmother's house. Even if Mr. Willis qualifies under Louisiana's recently passed compensation law, he will receive no more than $150,000 for the 22 years he lost. In prison, Mr. Willis worked as a barber, but cannot continue to cut hair on the outside without a barber's license, which requires a high school degree. He has enrolled in GED test preparation classes, but the sporadic manual labor jobs he works to make ends meet got in the way. Mr. Willis is unemployed, and unable to cover his living expenses. He is currently enrolled in truck driving school.

All were convicted with no forensic evidence presented at trial that linked them to the crime.
