Welcome!  And, please feel free to actively participate in the dialogue and post what you really feel or believe without hesitation that it may or may not be in agreement with anyone else.

It's called Debate, and that's essentially what happens on this board, that along with sharing and disseminating information and issues relevant to history, struggles and achievement of African America, Africa and the Black Diaspora.

So, don't take personally any contrasting opinions and/or viewpoints, because, after all, contrary to popular stereotypes, the Black race is not and never has been a monolithic group of people with only one viewpoint, experience, history or level of understanding.

I'm not a big debater, I'm not trying to win I just want to participate. Once in a while I'll jump in and debate but from my experience its spirals into chaos and cliques. I plant my seed and try to move on. The nature of these boards are often peeps trying to express their frustrations and when people are ticked off or have deep seated resentment about aspects of life and current events often its hard to have civil debates especially when there is a sense of anonymity.

But I can take it but I have much bigger fish to fry in my real life I just try to learn along the way from whatever experience I have. I was on another board and it was too many who did not tolerate opposing opinions or were just poised to crucify anyone not in their clique and often used manufactured offenses. People want to feel important and take on these personas of authority on issues, some are ideologues and stick to their talking points, they are not interested in evolving. I can't be distracted like that because keeping a level head and objective is important to me.

So I guess, like you said I try not to take opposing opinions personally. Back in the day I use too and getting pissed off at what someone says on a board made me feel disappointed with myself because in real life I have things I could spend time on that are important and need my energy.

Thanks  Kocolicious, being back is like slipping into old comfortable shoes, it feels right. Oh I'm not so sensitive but looking back I used to be.

I'm open minded, thinking back I was fooled on a number of things and many was well ahead of me, I'm humble enough to admit that.
