Jamaica "” land of sea, sand and sun. And a prime example of the impact economic globalization can have on a developing country. Using conventional and unconventional documentary techniques, this searing film dissects the "mechanism of debt" that is destroying local agriculture and industry while substituting sweatshops and cheap imports. With a voice-over narration written by Jamaica Kincaid, adapted from her book A SMALL PLACE, LIFE AND DEBT is an unapologetic look at the "new world order," from the point of view of Jamaican workers, farmers, government and policy officials who see the reality of globalization from the ground up. If you have no Idea wtf people are talking about when the are discussing, "2012", "The age of Aquarius", and would like to know, then suck it up and sit through this 5 hour video. Below is the torrent link, I have not confirmed level of seeding so those who download, please post feedback in case I need to upload it; which I will do when I get to it in the queue http://www.meganova.org/download/0fae3243c0f0344ccff63f...802c57179a2d.torrent

Ian Lungold presents his and Swedish biochemist Carl Calleman's (calleman.com) findings about the Mayan Calendar.
September 6, 2003. Okanagan University College, Vernon, Canada.

For 525 years, adventurers and archeologists have studied the Mayan civilization for clues about their calendar system. Due to the translation of Mayan writing, discoveries of calendar inscriptions at Mayan ruins and the availability of scientific facts about Earth history, we now have the answer to the Mayan calendar mystery.

Ian Xel Lungold presents scientific evidence that demonstrates that the Maya centered their civilization around the actual schedule of the evolution of consciousness and the unfolding of creation, galaxies, life and history, in a system of repeating, ever accelerating cycles. Now we have the pattern of all creation and it's called the Mayan Calendar.

#9 "What the F**K Do We Know"

hxxp://files.filefront.com/WTFDWKrar/;4674288;;/fileinfo.html
"What the FuckDo We Know" blends a fictional story line, discussion, and computer animation to present a view of the physical universe and human life within it, often relating this to neuroscience and quantum physics. Some topics discussed include, that the universe is better thought of as being constructed from thought (or ideas) than from substance, that what has long been considered "empty space" is anything but empty, and that our beliefs in who we are and what is real are not simply observations, but rather form ourselves and our realities. Additionally, a brief discussion of the theory that peptides manufactured in your brain can cause a bodily reaction to an emotion brings a new perspective to old adages such as "think positively" and "be careful what you wish for."

#10 The Lightbringers - The Emissaries of Jahbulon
A video Documentary describing the Concealed History of Freemasonry. It is my favorite one on the topic. The narration is slow, allowing the listener to catch everything, and its span is epic as the filmaker goes all the way back to before the templars and travels accross the world showing some of their secret rituals and monuments. At the end, he reveals his thought on what it is all about. (torrent problems? then give feedback so I will upload it)

#12 "Who Controls our children"
Major international players are reshaping public education to suit their own self-serving agendas, without regard for the wants of parents and the welfare of their children. This video lecture, presented by Peg Luksik of the PA Parent Commission, documents how today's schools dumb down kids deliberately, shaping them into people who don't ask any questions but just follow orders.

I finally got Who Controls Our Children it took 10 hours and 32 minutes to download. I guess there aren't enough BitTorrent clients with that file. Even so, that was ridiculous.

I'm still in the process of watching it but it looks like the dumbing down with psychological manipulation can be traced as far back as the 60s. I have read psychological books from the 20s that indicate if the objective was to create self reliant adults they knew not to do the crap they are doing 80 years ago.

The schools dumbing down kids video was made in 1992. What do you bet they haven't improved much in Pennsylvania since then.

There isn't that much useful visual information in the video, just one computer generated graphic near the beginning which is readable and some overhead projections she puts up later. The overhead projections are unreadable in the video. So the sound delivers all of the relevant info. I am in the process of converting it to an MP3 file.

The mp3 file is 56 Meg. I probably should have made a smaller one by using less than 128 Kbps but it was the first time I used this software and I don't know what the bit rate is in avi files.

I tried some software that claimed to strip the sound out of avi's but I couldn't get it to work. I used the crude brute force technique. I played the video with media player and looped the sound back into the sound card and recorded it to the hard drive as an mp3. So now I should be able to record anything I can play on my computer.

How can I send it to you? Does anybody in PA care abut a copyright on this?

That Filefront website is working now. They provide multiple servers to download from but no info about how fast they are. I'm downloading a 712 MB file and it is estimating an hour and a half at 117 KB/sec. My connection is a lot faster than that.

=====================================

I have started a 2nd download of a different file. The second part of Status Anxiety from a different server. The first download has gone up to 124 KB/sec but the second is only doing 97.9 KB/sec but at least I can do two at once. Should I go for 3?

OK tmonster, it's a day early for April Fools.

I have downloaded all 3 Status Anxiety RAR files and decompressed them with:

unrar e sa1

unrar e sa2

unrar e sa3

I have tried playing them with Windows Mediaplayer and Realplayer. The picture is great but NO SOUND. I have gone back to the Who Controls Our Children video and I get picture and sound on Mediaplayer and Realplayer. Any ideas?

======================================

Further update: PowerDVD, the program I use for watching DVDs did the same thing, great picture, NO SOUND. What is that Divx511.AC3 about?

I think the issue of Status Anxiety is closely related to this thread:

The Issue of Social Class in African America

I read Packard's Hidden Persuaders and a couple of his other books back in the 60s. So the concepts in Status Anxiety weren't new to me. I don't recall ever seeing a video mentioning Thorstein Veblen before though. I have the book Age of Uncretainty by John Kenneth Galbraith that devotes about 5 pages to him. The Power Elite by Mills also deals with this.

Anyway, the bottom line is the relationship between socialpsychology and economics, and in my opinion technology has become a large factor in this since the 1880s. This involves real needs versus delusional needs. The technology made it possible to satisfy everybodies real needs decades ago. But if we let only those needs matter that would ruin the psychological and economic power games that so many people like to play. So the marketing industry helps to create delusional needs which can never be satisfied and we must all run on a treadmill going nowhere for the sake of the GDP.

Personally I think the average Black person is more status conscious than the average White person. An inferiority complex is a b!tch.

But I noticed something odd about the system in 1976.

Have you seen BBC's Decade of capitalism
in it it describes how Freud's nephew used his psychotherapy to manufacture consent inthe market and politics. I will drop it next week.

I don't recall ever hearing anything about Freud's nephew, but historically you can see changes in the advertising industry beginning in the 1920s.

A lot of my thinking evolved as a result of reading sci-fi. One sci-fi writer in particular worked in the advertising industry.
