Pages ago i had sneaked in that Shani's baby was born with cocaine in his system since the story seemed to suggest that shani occasionally snorted cocaine and had asked her brother Walter to cop some for her. So I was thinking along the lines that Shani had a child services worker to insure she was staying clean and properly taking care of lil Perry. This is how they avoided lil Perry going into foster care.
I like the tension of Shani going to pick up the new baby and bumping into her case worker - who might have been notified by Nurse Osabo...
