Yes!!
I mean, is the sista sporting a mullet?? It's very "business in the front, party in the back." Outside of Oprah and a select few, all the high-profile Black women have some real frigged-up hairdos. The weaves look ridiculous, the perms look fried, just a mess! Anywho...
I don't know what kind of press it received everywhere else, but here in Florida, this kiss was the top news story for
weeks:
Someone seems to be thinking along the same lines as me. Africana has a brief article about her former "boyfriends":
Condi Has a Thing for Sports Guys...While the world wonders if Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, the most powerful black woman in the world, really has a man, apparently she used to have a thing for guys in sports. During her graduate years at the University of Denver, Rice dated Denver Bronco wide receiver, now a high school football coach, Rick Upchurch. "Yes," Upchurch told the Denver Post's Bill Husted. "We dated a bit. She was a very nice person, a genuine and warm person."
Rice also briefly dated fellow DU student, Thierry Smith, now a host on Denver's only sports radio station 950 AM The Fan.
"I would use the term (dated) loosely," Smith told Husted. "We went to the movies once or twice, that's all. I don't want it to sound like anything heavy duty. She was way above me, intellectually -- and very young."
Condi earned her bachelor's degree in political science, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Denver in 1974; her master's from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 and her Ph.D. from the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver in 1981.
