I watched the commencment of the bombing of Desert Storm on the TV in the cellblock of the jail cell that I happened to be occupying that night in downtown Detroit.
A Black jail guard let us out of our individual cells to watch the TV news coverage of the bombing when he saw the breaking news flash. He told us that we were in the most appropriate place to be on that night (MLK's birthday--Daddy Bush had a rather odd way of celebrating it).
