=======================================

There is a barrel with no lid and some wine in it. "This barrel of wine is more than half full," said Curly. "No it's not," says Mo. "It's less than half full."

Without any measuring implements and without removing any wine from the barrel, how can they easily determine who is correct?

ANswers:

1. last name

2. is a paradox...since it loops around, the whole thing is false

3. the logical answer is if you count the amount of wine bottle and add that same amount [thus doubling it] you can see if it fills...if full, then the barrell is half full...if even one extra is need that the amount added, the barrell was less than half full Smile

4. Parents

thank you kweli, isistah and jim chester!

the health stuff is daunting but i have the big man upstairs on my side.

the work stuff is just work stuff--im enjoying my new challenges, so its all good.

the site (aa.org) is a different thing though.

i have to say i felt i gave a lot to this community (too much maybe, i don't know), but if its possible to get a chilled vibe from certain members via their repsonses or lack of responses--i got it.

the constant bickering between myself and another member became draining...to the point of why bother. no one would confront this member on the boards, but instead lend me support behind the scenes--so the appearance was always me against them -- when in reality there were many more who felt like i did, but they just never "said" it.

the way this board is managed can also make you feel less than appreciated or respected. being one of the first members of aa.org and what i thought a foundational contributor (in recruiting new members, and in giving my heart here) things were done and said in a way that was like--if you don't like it, leave. much more of a dictatorship than a community with the voices of concerned memebers heard and understood.
i read the NOAH & FAHEEM thread in our issues and i have to agree with everything FAHEEM posted. having been in on that particular situation from the very beginning the way things were handled were wrong, and its left a bad taste in my mouth as well.

i am thankful that i have made friends here with whom i'm able to have offline and outside of this message board communication with. there are and have been some really intelligent people here.

good luck to you all...

Nykii:

A short story. Promise.

A consultant came in to do training on stress. In the second day, he shared with the group that he was the first male in his family to live beyond 50. He said it was because he realized he was on the road to the same fate one day while driving, and yelling at other motorists. It came to him, he said, that the average I.Q. is in the 90 to 100 range, plus or minus a couple of points. He also knew that when I.Q. graphed against population, 50% of the people are below the mean, say 100 being generous.

That meant that, it was very likely, half of the people he was yelling at were less than the mean I.Q. He could be yelling at people who wouldn't understand why he was yelling even if he could explain it to them.

The point being you shouldn't invest too much of yourself in unknown circumstances. You might just be entertainment. You might be interacting with malice. You might be trying to interact with a "non-absorptive" body.

Disengaging is always the safe option.

Welcome back.

PEACE
