What are the songs that make you move, are infectious..... but that others wouldn't expect you to listen to, or would be shocked by, or you are usually embarrassed to admit....

ummmm...... this may take courage for some..... but it's the "net".....

I'll start....

I seem to be going through a "Closet Jam" period.....

Kai those are my joints!!! I have to admit that Sweet Child O'Mine is on my IPOD in my Workout Playlist 16 oh yeah I also listen to Aerosmith- Sweet Emotions; Red Hot Chilli Peppers... too many to name; and yes Brittany Spears-Sometimes.

I LOVE "Under Pressure" it's the main reason I liked Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby."

I've had the Pretenders greatest hits in my bmgmusic.com cart forever. I need to go and purchase the thing already! I saw them in concert years ago. And "Brass in Pocket" is my joint! Even downloaded the video a few weeks ago.

"Benny and the Jets" is HOT!

GNRs "Sweet Child O' Mine" is cool, but "Welcome to the Jungle" is the cut. I actually own "Appetite for Destruction."

However, none of this can touch what I watched/listened to? at iFilm.com yesterday. It was John Cage's 4'33". Guess you'd call it avant garde? Basically, an entire orchestra sits around for 4 minutes and 33 seconds in virtual silence save for the sound of turning music pages and coughing in the audience. Maybe this quote explains the idea, somewhat: "Music began as an imitation of natural sounds and human voices but then became increasingly stylized. Cage brilliantly brings the process full circle, bridging the cultural distance that has developed between conventional performance and the sounds of nature where it all began."

Two Princes was by the Spin Doctors. I loved that song too.

When I look at all the posters in this thread listing white songs as their "closet jams," I find that interesting, somehow. I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but I don't hide it. I like a lot of rock and pop, except that most of the pop I like is from artists from the 80s and early 90s. I hate most of the regular white pop music from the last 10 years or so. I've always been a big fan of Depeche Mode & Tears for Fears.

But if you want a REAL closet jam... one that I must be KRAYYYZEE to admit I like (and screw admitting it; I must be crazy to like it in the first place!) ... then look no further than (gulp... choke... deep breath...) "FREEK'N U" by JODECI. ek

It has to be the worst song I have ever liked. Lyrically it's pathetic, and the singing, particularly by Jo-Jo, is absolutely abominable. I have no idea why I find that crap so catchy!

I may have to delete this post if I actually have the nerve to post it. MBM, can you block AudioGuy from this thread? He may come and confiscate all of my Fertile Ground music, and never speak to me again.

I've got Jodeci's Greatest Hits, I should listen to that cut. (Don't remember it.)

But, you make a really good point. I mean R. Kelly should be King of the Closet Jams! "Trapped in the Closet", "You Remind Me of Something"....

All the tracks in the album CHUPACABRA by Imani Coppola...including the hidden track at the end. She's so hot, and all the tracks are good. They inspired my manuscript "Out The Box."

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band my favorite Beatles album. I love the ending in "A Day In The Life," the final track. That musical crescendo that climaxes into a brief silent pause, then into one elongated note. A priceless classic.

Thanks, Vox. I was going crazy trying to remember the Spin Doctors. My songs aren't really "closet" either, but they are songs that some people are a bit surprised that I am into. I was/am so into 70s, 80s, and 90s R&B, Funk (yes, there is a difference), Jazz, Blues, Classical and Rock. I also love the big band sounds and song stylists of the 20s and 30s. Used to love rap until it became too offensive for me, but I still love the old stuff.
