Loved it!!!!!! Never read the books as a child but I do remember seeing another adaptation on PBS as a child that I truly enjoyed. More encchanting than HP&SS, it was magical. Can't wait for the next movie. tfro The computer graphics were out of this world, seamless. Liam Nessim [spelling] as the lion, the perfect voice.

I saw this tonight and I really liked it. I felt like an 'escape' film and this did the trick.

The SFX were smart and restrained...
I especially liked the flaming bird arrow. Cool-as!

What interesting arguments CS Lewis and Tolkein must have had.

And don't tell there were no hallucinogens involved in some of these stories... Smile

Hmmm...

Okay... is it just me... didn't anyone else find the dark skinned villians being called the Calormenes a bit ...uhhhh suspicious?

That and the fact that none of them, except one, got into Aslan's country.

What about the name calling in the end... darkies... come on ... it's just me?!

The Narnians being described as fair-haired and pure... the Calormenes dark skinned and barbaric (with the exception noted above).

First time I read the books as a kid, it totally slipped past me..second time I read them as a teenager, I was like what the hell???? But I take into account, the storyteller, the era the books were written and the mindset of the time. So I do my best to overlook that and try to enjoy the overall theme of the stories.....but its hard as hell to do that now that I'm older.

I was reading it and getting into the whole fantasy aspect of the story and it honestly took a minute for the name, and the negative characteristics ascribed to the people, to sink in. All I could think of was how UNsubtle... Calormene... colored men... Calormene... colored men.
