Move to Southern California! I just got back from San Diego (my old stomping ground) where it was 80 and brilliantly sunny. For lunch I grabbed a sandwich and went to the beach where it was ridiculously gorgeous!

I miss the sun!! frown

I'm busy as heck but I've been wanting to post these thoughts for sometime......

A creationist cannot conceive of his or her beliefs being wrong. So, all new data must conform to preconceived beliefs. A scientist, on the other hand, really couldn't care less personally whether any theory or not is correct. No scientist would lose sleep if they found out that life came about because aliens seeded the planet. They would be excited. If God turned out to exist and have created life, and had also every-so-often destroyed the majority of species for the fun of it - well, that would be interesting too.

Just something to think about smile

BTW, I do believe God must exist. You see I'm not a complete heathen smile
Where would we be without our creationist?

Just think what would have happened if they did not surpress the notion that the earth revolved around the sun for so long... Why, we might be farther along in space travel by now, could be peace on earth... and we can't have that can now we. roll eyes

I can't wait until the aliens land (or intervine when the nukes fly)... I want to see how they explain that one! Sit back and enjoy the show!!!

Big Grin Hi June Bug Welcome back, hope you guys had a great time over there!

What is the social climate like considering the events going on in the world? I'll look forward to any threads you start on your observations...

...and I'm still sticking to my theory. Chopped Liver and Brussel Sprouts!

Hey Nkechi Smile

I really don't know what to think these days. This Iraq thing is strange. I think Saddam is doing the right thing, doing exactly what is mandated of him to stay in power. Bush will be so disappointed. The USA wants even a stronger military prescence in the Middle East and are poised to take advatage of anything that will allow the US to do so.

Another big attack on the USA will be an bad deal from an Arab perspective because that would mean more US and internantional involvement in the region.
Its a beautiful day.

I've had my coffee and scrambled egg sandwich. I've done my vegging for the weekend, cause I work hard all week. I've watched my taped shows, Alias and a special on Lord of Rings, the 2 towers (love that stuff). I've stared at the picture of actor, J. August Richards, for 5 minutes (he wants me, I just know it, I can see it in his eyes)...

Now I am exhilirated, happy and feeling very good. Big Grin Ready to treadmill to some loud music for 45 min, dance around, sing and be stared at by the dogs, take them out for walks and car rides. Go buy a book and see what else comes up! Hopefully a cute black intelligent man and a seductive staring contest... Wink

Hope everyone else is having a good day and is making the most of every moment.

..and to all my LA peeps... please stop by Doboys cafe sometime.. 4711 Crenshaw Blvd. Tonight at 9:30 is poetry, and its been pretty hapenning last couple of weeks. Some good stuff, good crowd and lots of fun towards the end... we have fun/adult debates... and who knows, tonight may be my debut to the mic Eek

Peace to all...

Hey - I just saw Sir Mix-A-Lot at a car dealer here in Seattle (he came in with a sweet black Escalade). Anyway - his woman/female guest/SO/wife/whatever HAD NO BUTT. What kind of sense does that make???? Confused I was left with the same feeling I had when I found out that wrestling was fake. Frown

Now is the time to make real the promises of Democracy.

I mentioned in an earlier post that President Clinton and the US going to war over nukes in '93-94 was old news. People have jumped on JW for labeling nKorea, Iraq and Iran an axis of evil. In that same period ('93-'94) Japanese CIA/FBI or spooks uncovered a plot by nKorea, Iraq and a third country to launch simultaneous attacks. The attack was to occur b/c the US was in the middle of a drawdown and they knew we could not support that many areas of operations. One of the countries backed out at the last minute and initial indications led people to believe that it was Lybia.

Now that JW has announced his new no-nonsense policy I wonder if it will eventually surface that the US knew of the attack and was hopingthat it would escalate to more? The US has been accused of knowing about 9/11 so would this be a surprise? Confused

I wonder why we don't have a word in English for that thing people do with their mouths when they acknowledge somebody without saying hello. You know what I mean? When a person kind of clenches their lips tightly together and sort of folds them into each other? It's kind of a humble sort of expression, but it's common enough that there ought to be a name for it.
I want suggestions. I suggest "frimp." As in, "She nodded and frimped as she walked past him."

VOX...isn't called a "head-nod"??? that's what we call it...the african american salute of sorts. the wassup, how you doin, good day, hey there, hi kinda unspoken greeting we give each other no matter where you're from, where you are, or what's going catch each other's eyes and do that lip thing and nod your head.

_ Don't make me come down there. --God_

No, I'm talking about the thing with the lips, where you kind of scrunch the bottom lip up into the top one and fold them in. You know whenever Bill Clinton was in trouble, the tabloids would show a photo of him with that expression. Everybody does it, black, white, and everyone. It's used often as a non-verbal greeting, and often between two people during moments of potentially awkward silence. It's far too common not to have a name.

Frimping! Embrace the word

I'm generally not a pessimist, but I don't have a good feeling about the coming new year. I predict it will be a year of mysteries (unexplained/unexpected events). But they will not be coincidents... Smile

The raising anti-American sentiment around the world should not be taken lightly.

Today is 01-02-03. That is about as casual a thought one can have. Wink

By all standards, some creatures are just plain strange, making us do double takes because their compositions or habits or appearances defy our sense of logic and our way of viewing reality. Take the wildebeest, the warthog, the hyena, the brown pelican, the Shar-Pei. These animals, seemingly wrought by committee, make us laugh or shake our heads. Another such creature, of the human kind -- and perhaps the strangest of all -- is the black Republican. "

More to come later!

Now the hardest part......the wait.. Frown

My apologies to the Seattle crew (MBM and Nykkii), there would have been nothing more I would have enjoyed than to have a cup of coffee and conversation with two of Seattles finest but alas my layover is too short. Maybe next time....

To everyone else, see you on the high ground
