First lady Michelle Obama may have violated Illinois law today -- when she engaged in political discussion at a polling place!

Mrs. Obama stopped off at the Martin Luther King Center on the south side of Chicago to cast an early vote.

After she finished at the voting machine, Obama went back to the desk and handed in her voting key, saying "Make sure everybody's voting early."

She let voters including electrician Dennis Campbell, 56, take some photos with her.

"She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband's agenda going," Campbell said.

According to the pool reporter at the scene, the conversation took place IN the voting center not far from the booths.

Illinois state law -- Sec. 17-29 (a) -- says "No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place, within 100 feet of any polling place."

So what's going to happen?

Spend millions of tax payer's dollars with a long drawn out congressional investigation and hearing to try and find political fault and defrock Michelle Obama of her First Lady mantle, status and disbarment as a lawyer?

All this will be is a 24 news cycle story for the week.

If that's the case, many of us are guilty of doing the exact same thing.... a pubic citizen.....having a conservation while in line, waiting, before or after voting, talking about voting & politics and the only thing that's not being discussed or revealed is who you are or did vote for.

Will her vote now not count as an American citizen and this become more Tea Party Republican fodder?....And I'll bet they will want a formal apology....Oops! my bad y'all....much ado about nothing.
This is how I read this story, Michelle Obama may have said something that would perhaps amount to electioneering at an early voting poll station in Chicago. If this were really the case with all of the media who were there with cameras, video cameras and tape recorders you wouldl think that there would be concrete proof of this? And this was reported by the Drudge Report? Yah RIGHT! I mean you conservatives swing from poll place voter intimidation in Philadelphia (which was bullshit after reviewing the facts of the story) to now Michelle Obama electioneering in Chicago which is just alledged hearsay. LMAO y'all sit yourselves down somewhere with your white paranoia!
You know sometimes, I would just like to for ONE election cycle practice the same type of voter intimidation on white people as they practiced on us during the 150 years of Reconstruction before the Civil Rights Movement. Maybe then they would understand what real voter intimidation is.
It seems to me if there were any truth to that, republicans would already be engineering some law suit against her and the Obama administration.  This may very well be some person wanting to get their name in the news and be paid to ride the media circuits until a real journalist or media outlet exposes their lies and/or exaggeration on the matter.  At any rate, that person will have raked in thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars in the mean time.
