Online, I've been called a transvestite, a white man, a black man, a white supremacist. I really don't care what anyone thinks of me. Hey, we're not neighbors.

In real life, I've been called a frustrated dyke. Because I hang out with gay guys, I've been called a fag hag.

I advise you to befriend a gay guy so you can get some insight into male sexuality. Go to a gay bar and you will see men who LOOK like Kobe dancing and smooching with men who LOOK like Malik Yoba. And the sight of such things will make a wise woman exercise caution when dealing with men.

In a perfect world, we'd like it if we could rely on black men to have our backs, to protect us. They're not capable of protecting anybody. Most of them don't know how to take care of themselves, which is why they have women do it.

For ten years, I attended a private school and all my classmates were white. I grew up reading Louisa May Alcott's, Little Wiomen and all the Judy Blume novels, etc.

When I entered high school, frankly, black girls scared me. They had their own unique speech patterns and some of them poked fun of me becasue I "talked like a white girl."

I wanted to get to know these girls, but I wasn't about to mimic their demeanors or speech pattern. My motto was, accept me or go to hell.

I had been the sole black person in a white environment and honestly, I encountered no prejudice. But it made me feel a kinship with gay people. I knew what it was like to be different from other people. So when gay guys reached out to me, I embraced them.

I read The autobiography of Malcolm X, the book about those kids who integrated that school in Arkansas, all the works of Maya Angelou, Toni Cade Bambara, Alice Walker and not because it was assigned to me in school, but because I was interested in the voices of these black scribes.

In college, my discipline was English, so I admire the King's English and the written word.

Frankly, it is narrow-minded of you to suggest that black people speak one way and whites another. I listen to George Benson, Fantasia, The Fifth Dimension, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston.

My favorite movies are STEEL MAGNOLIAS, LOOK WHO'S TALKING, THE ENGLISH PATIENT. I have watched Romeo and Juliet countless times.

My favorite playwright is Tennesee Williams. My favorite short story writer is Flannery O'Connor.

When I write, I write it the way it comes out of me. I will call a mirror a looking glass. I will say ring up instead of phone.

I read a lot and my word choices are more a reflection of that than my race.

I did not even become conscientious of race. Believe it or not, one time I was color-blind until I notice that black boyfriends were looking at white women. I wondered what was it about me that kept attracting black men who liked white women.

And I now realize it is because although I am black, I was more like a white girl and that's what appealed to them. Because in truth, that's what they CRAVE.

I'll be the first to admit that I am vain and narcissitic.

To stay thin, I fast a twice a week. I doll myself up, hair and makeup and I take myself out to lunch or shopping. I don't want other women with me because I want the spotlight solely on me. And I don't hang out with women who surpass me in the prettiness department.

In the summertime, I go to the beach, donning two-piece bathing suits and I prance around the beach, with my eyes covered with sunglasses. I enjoy the effect I have on men, particularly black men. I agree with everything you say regarding white bisexual men. To put it bluntly, white men are sucking dick and taking it up the ass too.

But everything you've ascribed to white men can also be applied to black men. My CONCERN is the growing number of black women being diagnosed with HIV. These women report that they got it from their boyfriends, who are ostensibly straight.

I know a black she-male, whom I met in a creative writing class. She admitted to the group that she was a transsexual and in private, she told me that she had breasts and a penis. She told me that she frequently went on chat lines and talked to men, explaining that she was a she-male. She said they were impressed with her voice and wanted to see a picture of her. So, she emailed them a photo.

I would say that she looked similar to Holly Robinson. Nothing to boast about, but for a she-male, that isn't bad.

"The guys wanted to get together with me," she said.

"Did you do it?" I asked, hungry for the information.

She allowed them to come to the house she shares with her mom. And while her mom was in her room, sleeping, girlfriend would be entertaining her gentlemen callers.

My point is she went to an environment populated by supposedly "straight" men and she told them she was a she-male and she managed to get sexual dates. Huh?

Now, in my opinion, any man that would fuck a she-male is gay. And this she-male told me that she was submissive, that she only allowed men to fuck her. But some she-males will fuck men.

No. But I've never heard a white person use it either. I use plenty of words that I don't hear many other Black people using. I don't see how that necessarily indicates what race of people I associate with or how in-tune I am with other Black people. Do you subscribe to the idea of "talking Black" or "talking white?"

Racial disparities still exist despite decline in new cases

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- The rate of newly reported HIV cases among blacks has been dropping by about 5 percent a year since 2001, the government said Thursday. But blacks are still eight times more likely than whites to be diagnosed with the AIDS virus.

"The racial disparities remain severe," said Lisa Lee, an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The falling rate among blacks seems to be tied to overlapping drops in diagnoses among intravenous drug users and heterosexuals, CDC researchers said.

The study was based on 2001-04 data from 33 states that have name-based reporting systems for HIV. Health officials do not know which diagnoses represent new infections and which ones were infections people had for years but had just discovered.

The CDC found that overall diagnoses in the 33 states decreased slightly, from 41,207 cases in 2001 to 38,685 in 2004. The rate fell from 22.8 cases per 100,000 people in 2001 to 20.7 per 100,000 in 2004.

The decline was more pronounced among blacks -- the rate dropped from 88.7 per 100,000 in 2001 to 76.3 in 2004. Among whites, the rate rose slightly from 8.7 to 9.0.

At least part of the decline among blacks appears to be tied to a 9 percent annual decline in diagnoses among intravenous drug users, who can get the virus from contaminated needles. More than half of the drug users were black, Lee said.

The decline is also linked to a 4 percent decline in diagnoses among heterosexuals. About 69 percent of the heterosexuals diagnosed with HIV were black.

Diagnoses among men who have sex with men remained roughly stable from 2001 to 2003 but climbed 8 percent between 2003 and 2004. That was true for men of all races, CDC officials said. But they could not explain the recent increase.

In New York, needle exchange programs helped explain declining HIV infection rates, said state Health Department spokeswoman Claire Pospisil. New York introduced needle exchanges in 1992, and 114,500 people have participated, she said.

Most public health researchers say such programs have been clearly effective against the spread of HIV, but some argue they work against efforts to fight drug abuse.

"The AIDS virus is spread through voluntary behavior. An unlimited supply of needles will not alter behavior patterns of irresponsible and often psychotic addicts," the conservative Family Research Council said in a statement.

The government does not know exactly how many people have HIV. Roughly 25 percent of people living with HIV do not know they are infected, health officials said.

The study for the first time includes data from New York, which accounted for more than 20 percent of the diagnoses seen in the 33 states. "The inclusion of New York data gives us more representative picture what going on," Lee said.

California and Illinois are among the states still missing from the database.

I saw this article a few days ago and it is good news. But I think JL King's book and women becoming aware of male sexuality has played a role in women playing it safe while dealing with men. Black men are shady and I know of two women who died of AIDS because of their down low boyfriends.

Defend them if you must. But I won't defend them. I support gay rights. But I do not support any man lying to a woman about who he is, using her as a cover. It is wrong and it is too bad that morality cannot be abjudicated in a tribunal. Some of these men should be locked up, should lose their right to vote for committing crimes of the heart.

You're damn right I have some issues with black men. I see PLENTY that rubs me the wrong way.

Every morning, when my little girl and I are out on errands, I see black women at the bus stop with a child or two. Some of these women are going to school. Some are on their way to work.

In many instances, she is a single mom. So-called black men sired those children, but they aren't helping her raise them. He may not even be giving her child support.

Then I'll be in the mall, or my favorite gourmet supermarket or restaurant at lunch time, and I see well-groomed black men dining with white women. I see black men in the grocery store with white women.

I've seen black men in a department store in ladies apparel with a white woman helping her select a garment. Or at the cosmetic's department helping her pick out a fragrance.

Now, that man has a right to be with who he wants to be with. This is America. But I can't help but feel that that black woman at the bus stop is being maltreated. The black chick struggles while a black bastard is off pampering a white chick.

This summer, I was at the beach SEVERAL TIMES and I saw COUNTLESS black women with other black women, and a gaggle of children, who were eating snow cones and cotton candy. Their loving mamas were showing them a good time.

I often see black women showing their black children a good time, creating good memories for them at the carnival and amusement park. Rarely is a black man with them.

But I see these same NIGGER men with white women and 100% WHITE children that they did not even sire.

Those jerks have been known to leave their BLACK children to help white women raise white children by white men.

Taffy, if more women, particulary young girls, had (and used) "common sense" then we would not be having this discussion.
