Let an average citizen bounce a check, see how quickly they will be arrested if its not paid.  But:

In a Senate hearing this week, Elizabeth Warren grilled a Treasury official about a major Wall Street bank (HSBC) that was caught laundering money for Al Quaeda and drug cartels -- repeatedly -- and only got a slap on the wrist.

In the video, it's clear that bank regulators aren't used to being told to go harder on the banks. This is why we worked so hard together to elect Elizabeth Warren!

Warren previously grilled the top SEC official, who admitted they have no idea when they last took a bank to trial. This week, Warren underscored a core point:

"If you're caught with an ounce of cocaine, the chances are good that you're going to go to jail...but evidently if you launder nearly a billion dollars for drug cartels, your company pays a fine and you go home and sleep in your own bed at night. I think that's fundamentally wrong."

Watch her magical performance here -- and sign our petition demanding that regulators finally take Wall Street banks to trial.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.

PETITION TO SEC: Taking Wall Street banks to trial is necessary for real accountability. As Elizabeth Warren says, trials allow the public to learn the truth and allow regulators to better do their job of protecting the public. We call on you to end your practice of 'too big for trial.'

We'll deliver this petition to the SEC, show your signature to our friend Elizabeth Warren, and inform the media.

Here's the original video of Warren grilling the SEC:

And how much money do we give the Banks in subsidies and how much did we spend in taxpayer bailouts in 2008 and 2009 with no strings attached? And the Banks still have the nerve to charge outrageous fees or do what they want to your bank account by changing terms when they feel like it??!! If Ray Ray and Pookie and 'nem can get 20 years for slinging rock on the block, the corporate persons (as deemed by the Supreme Court)  need to face serious jail time.

They sure do need to face serious jail time, but of course, they made sure that our Congress made 99.9% of scheming and flim/flaming, and pyramid and ponzi schemes, usury interest rates and  gross misrepresentation that they did was legal before they did it.  Actually, more seriously, members of Congress that abused their authority, power and the people's trust, to legalize all the banking and Wall Street corruption in the first place, should be looking at prison time.

This has to be the BIGGEST sign EVER that shows that corruption and deceit, bribery and conspiracy runs DEEP within our government and corporate and banking systems.

I mean .... even Stevie Wonder could SEE that if what these criminals .... people are doing isn't a crime ... it sure in the hell SHOULD  be!!

And since nobody's gone to jail YET for ANY these financial-based crimes ... then it's probably a sure bet that it'll never happen.  They are a more close-knit and protected group than a police force is.

But .... I imagine if you were to start throwing these people in jail .... there's be NOBODY left in the banking sector .... 'cause if you were to take one (for financial criminal activity) ... you'd probably need to take all!!

I've been preaching that for years, and that fact is the reason why there is no way they really want people to stop using or selling drugs in this country.  If every drug dealer stopped selling and every addict stopped buying drugs all of a sudden in America, it would crash our economy, and they know it.  Which, brings me to the fact that it is also evidence that the so-called "War On Drugs" is and has always really been no more than a War On Black People In America.

Bush had a majority in both the House and Senate for the better part of his terms.  And unlike the wimpy, yellow-spined, weak-kneed, scaredy-cat Democrats .... when they had the opportunity ... they pushed through and passed EVERY piece of "let's-make-the-banks-and-Corporate-America-as-RICH-as-we-can" piece of legislation they COULD ...., as fast as they could write the bills and get it to Bush to sign!!

Which is exactly why I am still pissed with democrats and President Obama for not taking the very same advantage and pushing through each and every bill that the people who voted President Obama in office wanted, (like true and immediately effective Universal Healthcare and not this weak, watered down version we have now), when they had such control of Congress.
