I plan to go to the Inaugural celebrations in Washington? Yes, I am on the list for tickets. I plan to be there whether I get tickets or not. Are you going? Are you on the list?

No, I will be in front of my fireplace, sipping something warm and alcholic ... soaking in the heat and the historic moment.![]()

I thought it was pretty memorable when Barack Obama and John McCain debated at the Universisity of Mississippi where James Meredith was the first Black to attend Ole Miss.
"Thousands of students and citizens from the surrounding area, a number of whom were armed, swarmed the campus on September 30, 1962 in a riotous effort to prevent Meredith's enrollment. Meredith, thanks to the protection afforded by federal marshals, was able to enroll and attend his first class on October 2. Two people died during the race riots on campus. Following the riot, elements of an Army National Guard division were stationed in Oxford to subdue future riots. While most Ole Miss students did not riot prior to his official enrollment in the university, many harassed Meredith during his first two semesters on campus." from Wikipedia

LOL ... well, I don't really have a *cynical side* about this and I'm not expecting some kind of Columbine situation. However, I do take into consideration that White folks are going through one helluva *first time* here!!So, I'm kinda not sure what they might do because I don't think they know what that might be, either!
But, there's definitely been a (Black people's) genie let out the bottle .. and save for a declaration of marshall law ... he's not ever going back in!
White folks will have to make a/the adjustment to a whole new way of thinking and doing things - and not because of Barack or what he may do - but because of the change in mindset of Black America, itself. And I sincerely hope we don't screw this up.
But I see a lot ofand
and
on the part of White folks while we transition into this *new America* which will probably take a little while, but I figure that everyone will eventually find their place.
However, starting it off with MLK Day, followed by a Black man sworn in as POTUS ....... hopefully it won't overload their fragile sensibilities.

That is some of the stupidest shit I have ever read on this site... You have taken Obamaphobia to an entirely different, radically illogical level! Thanks for the laugh though...
As for me, I'll be hanging out with another race by attending another 'Kenyan caucus'!
Damn OBB, that was too ig'nant... I have tears in my eyes...

~Oh, come on!Even Obamamaniacs HAVE to admit that messing that (Fred Sandford for George Jefferson) up was a sure as hell clue that he had to be "prepped" about something he had NO IDEA about, that being black pop culture. They fed him an ice-breaker and he flubbed it. No big deal as he didn't even realize that he'd messed it up and I rather doubt that it was brought to his attention later. But, it didn't go over OUR heads.

1) I'm not an "Obamaniac"
2) I agree but was it worth all the theatrics and acting like you were revealing Obama's plan to blow up Reality?
3) I know you're upset about Hill-dog losing but hey, buck up because it looks like there's a good possibility of her becoming Secretary of State. Something I'm not happy about because I have almost no tolerance left for the Clintons and their brand of "liberalism" but I thought it might cheer you up.

IMO
You can not live in America and not realize you are Black regardless who raises you. Obama was searching for his "Blackness" from the day he realized he was Black. He is more "well-rounded" in his identity than most bi-racial folks I have known. His father was not African American from the slave history. He was African from Kenya. But, as African Americans from the slave history we are now having to embrace those who are African Americans among us in this country who do not share that same history. But, lets not forget his wife shares our slave history as well as his children.
OBB is making remarks about Obama being more comfortable with white folks like its a bad thing. Well, I disagree because if it was not for this comfort he would not be president. Lets not get a big head and think we Black folks voted him in office. We are not the majority in this country. It was the white folks who put him in office because they are VERY comfortable with him and sick of our current situation.

Okay. I'm trying to get plane tickets. Nothing under $650 for any of the three airports.
How badly do I really want to go?
Can my budget absorb this? ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Obama may end up having to receive my support vibes from afar.
I really wanted to go though since both my parents are deceased. Their struggle needs to be represented.
But, my budget will just freak.
Someone make this decision for me. Absolve me of responsibility.![]()

I have a room reserved...in Silver Spring, and... on the Metro line about one-half (1/2) mile from the Metro station.
But...I am now thinking that even if I get a ticket...I will not go...for a whole bunch of reasons that would not be important to anyone else.
If I get a ticket, I will offer to someone else.
I will also offer the room to anyone who wants it before I cancel.
