Is this not one of the hottest women on the face of the earth? In my opinion she is. And she can rock a Sitar. music

.......excuse me, brothers, but I had to sit there for a minute and just stare into that woman's eyes. Just look at that broad nose, that moca skin, those perfect lips, those determined eyebrows, and those gemstone-like eyes.....

Has she ever been to Atlanta? If she's touring there, I'll try my best to get some tickets.

I swear, Anoushka looks so much like this green-eyed sista, 2 or 3 years older than I, that was my choir director back in church. One day she came by to visit me to remind me of rehearsal times, and my friends (who played basketball with me in my backyard) couldn't believe their eyes when they saw this hottie of a woman, taking the time out of her schedule to remind me of choir rehearsal. appl

I'm diggin' that Zanzibar scene. I haven't been there in a minute. But them chicks they were showing on stage cannot compare to Anoushka. Can any of those chicks play a Sitar? Do any of those chicks have an Ivy League degree? Other than that woman the dude interviewed that looked like Kimora Lee Simmons, and she looked better than the contestants on stage by the way, none of those women I saw on that stage had a captivating face like Anoushka. But like I've always said I have a soft spot for Indian women.

I am SO going to a Bollywood film festival in the future...don't know when, but I will when I can afford a plane ticket.

That's true, India do promote light-skinned actors and actresses, just like the telenovelas on Univision and other Latino TV programming. Too many light, bright and dang-near actresses like the ones from the video clips, and not enough more darker-skinned Indian actresses like Bipasha Basu, Nandita Das, Ayesha Dharker and Parminder Nagra from "Bend It Like Beckham" and "ER" fame.

I heard that Will Smith was supposed to make a film with Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. I know that black actors, as well as dark-skinned Indian actors, aren't respected or given negative roles in many Bollywood films, but maybe Will can be a 21st century Sidney Poitier and make change over there.

Like M.I.A.? She's Sri Lankan, though.

As soon as I read this, I thought Aishwarya Rai.

M.I.A. is fine as hell and she can rap pretty good for a Sri Lankan. I loves me some Sri Lankan chicks too. Don't go in public around a Sri Lankan or an Indian and say this or they'll kick your ass but they're all the same to me. Sri Lankans have slightly different facial features and their accent is slightly more 'southern' than East Indians but they are sexy just the same.

Yeah....notice how I spelled it Baliwood instead of Bollywood. Them motherfuckers are just as bad if not worse than the Japanese about asimilating white culture. Bollywood just sounds too westernized and Balawood (Bala: young girl) didn't sound so catchy, so I spell it Baliwood.

Don't get Pakistani and Indian twisted either. nono Smile

* Kinda similar of folks not getting Mexican mixed up with Puerto Rican, Cuban or Dominican, despite that they're all Latinos. Sri Lankans, Indians, Pakistanis, and even Bangladeshis are all South Asians, or "desis"---just don't get them mixed up with each other. ---Huey

Baliwood isn't just racist/colourist because of Western culture... It's much older and deeper than that. The Aryan invasion of the Indus valley established the oldest known institutionalized white supremacy, the Hindu caste system...

Will Smith ain't gonna do ish about that...

Thank you for identifying that in more detail. I wasn't going to really go too far on that subject but you're right. In fact, East Indian culture is much more suppressive racially. Daughters that are born with brown or darker skin are doomed to live their lives in their family's homes or go unwed because dark skinned women are unappealing to Indian men yet the men can be nearly blue black and command the damn near whitest Indian women attainable.

The movie 'Mississippi Marsala' starring Denzel Washington gives a very good depiction of this type of racism. But yes, Oshun, I'm quite aware of their system of racism and it does go much, much deeper than mere influence of western film.

Yes...

The caste system is immersed with a sense of colorism so deeply entrenched its unbelievable.... it is why I winced a bit when Huey wrote this (he deleted the part about her being light skinned) :

* There was nothing deleted. The choir director had green eyes so at least it should have been implied that she was light-skinned. How many dark-skinned black folks have any of us ran into that had green eyes? It was rare to see any black person wearing green eye contacts in Georgia, in 1985. nono

Huey... I remembered your post specifically because you mentioned her light skin in addition to her green eyes... Since it is no longer there and I do not have proof... I will concede that it is possible that I misread your initial post... I just don't believe it is probable... none the less... I will retract the statement since you say nothing was deleted...

You don't have to retract it. I've been reading this thread from jump(particularly because of it's timing), and he did originally mention her being light skinned. We both can't be seeing things.

I thought at first it was just a 'description' demonstrating how much she looked like Anoushka, but now that it has been removed and denied, I have to question my original premise. 19

Hazel eyed dark skinned people do exist.

I've known two dark skinned brothers with green eyes.

Roll Eyes The bottom line is that she was light-skinned and she resembled Anoushka. The End.

Her face. She just looks masculine to me. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Believe me there have been women that I thought were drop dead gorgeous, and my boys thought I had lost my mind.
