Holy shit, WTF? Eek ek

Dude...................WTF? I got back from the celebration. There were at least 2,000 students up here on the streets cheering. Students of all races cheering in the same crowd with barely any concentrations in parts of the crowd by race. Black students were throwing up Black Power signs and white students were doing it along with them cheering.......

Am I in America?

Either that or we all hit our heads when our house got swept up by a tornado! Eek Big Grin
All praises due to God Almighty for this glorious win! Congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama and the Obama family for believing in yourselves and pressing forward in the race to make it to such a significant finish line. This morning, I truly feel the difference in the air. Everything that we've been through on this soil, all of the bloodshed, all of the tears, all of the backbreaking work, all of the hope - it's all come to this day.

Now, Black children really can see the breadth of possibilities in what they can become, and we no longer have to joke about the "myth" of a Black president of the USA. I woke up this morning actually feeling proud of this country and truly feeling that this land is MY LAND, too! I may even entertain the possibility of hanging a USA flag outside my house. Barack Obama's election to the seat of Commander in Chief, and his ingenious run for the seat, will be models for future presidents until the end of time. This is EXACTLY the change we need, and I am thankful to God to have lived to see it happen. To channel Dick Gregory, perhaps Obama is that "something dark" that God sent to heal this nation. Oh, taste and see that the LORD IS GOOD!!!!!!!!

Wait a minute, dude. Ain't you the one that had your doubts?

Yes, seeing was believing for me. I did not trust that white people would actually vote their own interest, rarely they do in my opinion. But it took a serious drop in their 401k for them to vote for a black man for president.
Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
