There is a high proportion of Dominicans who don't like their African blood to some degree or another. Just take a look on how Haitians are being treated in the Dominican Republic and you will realize their racism for people who look Black in appearance. Most claim to be more Hispanics than blacks. I am Haitian, I know what I'm talking about Frown.

I feel you Afroman! I don't get it Confused That entire situation makes me scratch my head. A couple of months ago I read Edwidge Danticat's "Farming of the Bones" and I had no idea! What a sad situation. The Spanish did a good job on the Africans they enslaved, even some of your people think that they are French! I find that just as disheartening.

Our people have made the mistake of confusing the methods with the objectives. As long as we agree on objectives, we should never fall out with each other just because we believe in different methods, or tactics, or strategy. We have to keep in mind at all times that we are not fighting for separation. We are fighting for recognition as free humans in this society

Yssys, the problem has always stem from the mulatto class in Haiti. They helped created the hatred against dark skinned Haitians. Don't forget it's the very same thing in this country. There are quite a few mulattos that comply in this very USA. I believe eras of the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil rights movement did away with most of this ridiculous notion of wanting to pass for white. No one has articulated this more than Spike Lee in his firsts few movies. So yes, while it is ignorant that the darker skin Haitian feels they are "French", the blame also lays with the so-call white Haitians who not only are the very rich but they keep themselves excluded in their very rich clubs.
