Attacks On Albinos Grow In Malawi As Body Parts Are Sold For Witchcraft

Edna Cedrick holds her surviving albino son after his twin brother who had albinism was snatched from her arms in a violent struggle in Malawi. Cedrick says she is haunted daily by images of the decapitated head of her 9 year old son.

LONDON (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - An increase in the number of attacks on people with albinism in Malawi since late 2014 by people seeking their body parts for witchcraft prompted Amnesty International to call on Tuesday for authorities to do more to punish those responsible.

The human rights group said April was the bloodiest month for attacks on albinos in the southern African nation, with four people murdered including a child aged under two. The child’s father and four others have been arrested.

In the past 19 months authorities in Malawi have recorded the murders of 18 albinos and abduction of five others although Amnesty fears the real number is likely to be higher as many attacks in secretive rituals in rural areas are never reported.

The body parts of albinos - who lack pigment in their skin, hair and eyes - are believed to bring wealth and good luck and are prized in witchcraft for use in charms and magical potions.

“The unprecedented wave of brutal attacks against people with albinism has created a climate of terror for this vulnerable group and their families,” Deprose Muchena, Amnesty International’s director for southern Africa, said in a statement.

Senior government officials, including President Peter Mutharika, have publicly condemned the attacks and announced several measures, including the appointment of a legal counsel to assist with investigations, and a national response plan.

“However, these measures have failed to stop the violence,” Amnesty said in its report published on Tuesday.

“Some perpetrators have been arrested, charged and convicted, but the majority of crimes remain unresolved. Charges and penalties often have not been commensurate with the gravity of the crimes, creating a sense of impunity,” the report said.

At least 69 crimes against people with albinism have been documented in Malawi since November 2014, according to police reports.

Amnesty did not have figures for the number of attacks prior to November 2014, but campaigners, police authorities, families and community leaders all said the number of attacks had risen.

It is unclear what has triggered the surge, but mass unemployment and drought could be part of the reason, Simeon Mawanza, lead researcher of the Amnesty report, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

There is no systematic documentation of crimes against people with albinism in Malawi, where people with albinism number around 10,000 out of a population of around 16.5 million.

People with albinism face discrimination and threats, both at school and in their communities. Myths about albinism abound, including the belief that having sex with an albino is a cure for HIV.

“The images that you see, where they hack off their hands, their feet, it’s so difficult to understand what goes on in such a mind to commit such a heinous crime against an innocent human being, merely because they look different,” Mawanza said.

He added that children have been sold by their parents, and some of the attackers were close family members.

One woman told Amnesty researchers in Malawi: “Most people who attack (people with albinism) are close relatives ... I met one mother in Chitipa who was hiding her children out of fear. As a result, the children were not going to school.”

Attacks against people with albinism have occurred elsewhere in southern and eastern Africa, including in Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Burundi.

Last year, the United Nations warned of a surge in violence against albinos in Tanzania, Malawi and Burundi.

The Amnesty report came ahead of international albinism awareness day on June 13. Albinism is a congenital disorder affecting between one in 5,000 and one in 15,000 people in sub-Saharan Africa. It affects about one in 20,000 people in Europe and North America.

Africa could put a stop to this if it wanted to, but they don't want to, and that's why it is still taking place.

This is one of the most despicable things that Africans engage in; it right up there with FMG.

The entire world should boycott ANY African country where this neanderthal, knuckle-dragging, troglodyte, beastly act is allowed to occur.  And America and Western nations should divest in any of these countries and suspend ANY foreign aid.

It is egregious acts like this that gives credibility the racist rhetoric and lies that make the claim that Africans are intellectually "unevolved" and "inherently inferior" to other races of people on earth.

How much money does the U.S. give to Malawi?

According to our research engine:
The U.S. Government gave a total of $152,746,363 to Malawi in 2012:

  • Child Survival and Health: $-2
  • Development Assistance: $31,770,742
  • Economic Support Fund/Security Support Assistance: $-253
  • Food For Education: $5,985,495
  • Global Health and Child Survival: $67,237,201

Britain suspends aid to Malawi

Britain has indefinitely suspended part of its aid programme, worth £19m, forMalawi over the country's repeated failure to address concerns over economic management and governance.  . . .

REVEALED: The theft and corruption gnawing at Scotland's £37million aid to Malawi

SCOTLAND’S multimillion-pound aid programme to Malawi can today be revealed to be in chaos – with some projects beset by theft, corruption and flawed accounting.

The Scots aid programme to Malawi is in chaos

In one case, then Health Secretary Alex Neil even promised to “encourage” short-staffed Scottish health boards to give NHS medics paid leave so that they could travel to Africa to help ease problems.

The Scottish Sunday Express began investigating the £37million aid programme after the most recent round of grants was announced in January.

Although it was not reported in Scotland at the time, one of Malawi’s top government officials issued a stern warning “against the abuse of the latest aid package”.

Charles Msosa, principal secretary in the ministry of education, science and technology, also “urged officers to use the funds for the intended purpose”.

Civil servants in Edinburgh monitor more than 40 projects funded by the taxpayer, although the reports have never been made public – until now.

Released under Freedom of Information legislation, they reveal that:

- At least one project had links to the ‘cashgate’ murder and corruption scandal which brought down Joyce Banda’s government last year and led to other western nations suspending aid to Malawi.

- A number of projects have been rapped for shoddy accounting, with several reporting six-monthly spending totals against annual grant allowances – effectively disguising overspend. A Scottish Government spokesman said: “We are working with project managers to tighten up on reporting procedures and this should not happen in future.”

- Impoverished villagers used loans part-funded by Scottish taxpayers to buy “radios, TVs, chairs and other furniture for their homes” instead of farming supplies.

- Many projects were hampered by theft of valuable equipment, staff absenteeism or problems with greedy local suppliers, some of whom doubled their usual fees.

- The Malawi Scotland Partnership kept members, including the Office of the President and the Cabinet, as well as schools, hospitals, church groups and even farmers, up to date with “progress on the Scottish referendum”.

But the most concerning situation was revealed in a report from the University of Dundee, which is running a £241,681 project to improve maternity care in Malawi.

It said that getting paid leave for NHS staff to travel to Malawi had “become an obstacle”, with NHS Tayside insisting that “no special leave will be granted for anyone doing work in developing countries.

“This is in keeping with the attitude of health boards from other parts of Scotland for several years.”

The project manager adds: “I wrote to [Alex Neil] who advised that he would encourage boards to support this work. He advised that I should contact the HR department in NHST to discuss further.”

At the time of the report – October 2014 – Scottish NHS staff shortages were so acute that concerns were raised at least 50 times a week.

Although the manager insisted there was “no impact on service delivery for the people of Tayside”, a lack of staff lead to 58 operations being cancelled in the health board area last year.

The same report also claimed that accountants at the Malawi College of Health Sciences made “unauthorised payments” to delegates on the maternity training courses.

Many people across Scotland are fully supportive of our relationship with Malawi

Scottish Conservatives spokesman

The report states: “They were responsible for the misappropriation of funds and when challenged about this, their response was to refuse to administer the funds. They have not accepted responsibility, made any apology or agreed to repay the misappropriated funds.”

Although “multiple lives” have been saved as a result of the project, the manager concludes: “I am pessimistic about the sustainability of the course after we leave Malawi, despite having donated all the teaching equipment and taught the necessary skills.”

The Scotland Malawi Business Group received £160,547 to provide support and loans for fish-farmers, but was hampered by “theft and poisoning, allegedly at the hands of jealous neighbours”.

In addition, the main supplier of fish feed was forced to close after the owner was “suspected of involvement in the cashgate corruption scandal”.

A number of projects were criticised by the Scottish Government for accounting problems, with the charity Christian Aid told to take “urgent action” to correct spending reports before any more money would be released.

There were concerns about projects by the University of Strathclyde (“spending figures don’t match”) and the MicroLoan Foundation (“financial reporting is incomplete”).

Imani Enterprise was asked to explain why £107,000 had been claimed for fishponds which “have not yet been built”, while there were “concerns about the robustness of the risk assessment” by Oxfam.

The £400,000 Oxfam farming support project also saw an “overall lack of care” from farmers, leading to an outbreak of swine fever that killed “80 per cent of the pigs”.

In addition, 245 village savings and loan groups were set up with £48,484 invested – with Oxfam noting that “farmers are now buying radios, TVs, chairs and other furniture for their homes”.

An Edinburgh University project to install IT equipment in rural health centres went over-budget due to “theft of equipment”.

Last night, opposition politicians and campaigners called for the reports to be made public as a matter of course – rather than accessible only using Freedom of Information.

A spokesman for the Scottish Conservatives said: “Many people across Scotland are fully supportive of our relationship with Malawi.

“However, if that is to be maintained it’s clear more transparency will be required.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Government said their funding system was “robust” and ensured any money donated gets to the people who need it most.

She added: “Our grant awards are independently assessed. The Scottish Government monitors our International Development projects regularly, requiring six monthly reports on progress.

“We work closely with our grant holders and only once we are satisfied with the progress of the project are further funds released.

“Under FoI legislation these reports are publically available if requested.”

I would imagine that this small country is receiving as much foreign "aid" from damn near every 'developed' nation on earth.

So, I'm sure that Malawi's "government" is too busy embezzling every dime of "foreign aid" they can get their hands on, to give a damn about what is happening with the masses in that country, or the atrocities they allow to happen to Albino children.

Who are the NUTTIEST, White Skins with the hair of the straight-haired dogs, not a set of lips between them, or Black Skins with the hair of the curly-haired poodles and sheep, some with fluffy lips? Both animal gangs, both animal gangs nuttier than fruit cakes, some to beyond insanity.

Too bad they all have fingers capable of pulling triggers and dropping 5,000 pound bombs. Just a heap of killers and exterminators of EVERYTHING on EARTH.

If your able to sleep in your bed tonight, Thank God!!!!! You lived another day.

Exactly!!!  I had a discussion with one of my long time bible thumping friends who is known to now saved and preach the gospel as if she never did a wrong thang in her life.  And she knows that I KNOW that is not true.  I mean I don't care what god people believe in...I always LOOK at behavior of that person to determine if I'm gonna hang out with them.  Anyway...longstoryshort...we were talking about the new version of Roots...where the man raises the baby in the air? You know what that heifer said?  No wonder blacks are having a hard time...they believe in a false god?  Ooooooooooooooooh my god!  I became hot as a fire cracker.  I said how would you like if someone came in your backyard and threw a sheet over you and tossed you on a ship with folks who don't speak the same language...taking you to a far away place from what you've known all your life?  No answer.  Plus they worshiped the GODS of their ancestry....not a slave book with all the characters WHITE and the only thing black about the book is its cover.  And I might add....she knows very little about black history or the history of Africa.  And yet she is willing to throw shade on her OWN people cuz she feels that the white god massa stuffed down slaves THROAT is the ONLY god.  GTFOH!!  It is THIS whimsical type thinking that  has kept black people as zombies to a book designed to enslave them.  Holier than thou black people can quote every scripture in the bible but have a hard quoting major milestones in Black history.  Something is FOCKING wrong with that.    Especially when your whole existence is getting to the pearly gates...or promised land and NOT recognize the continuum murder of black people in this country....which  happens every 15 seconds.  These type folks are willing to fall on the blade for an unknown GOD...instead of fallin on it for their OWN an effort to keep the culture GOING.  They don't focking care.  They just wanna ensure their place in line when they die.  And I gotta tell ya...if those things were even remotely true....FOLKS WILL COME BACK and tell us.  But have they?  I mean all the power they have said this GOD has....why doesn't "he" bring back PROOF? But they are willing to believe in that.....rather than believe in their OWN people.  That is some GOOD brainwashing.  As why I call them zombies.   I mean I listen to them talk...and say nothing cuz I don't wanna laugh in between making a point.  Cuz I feel it's ridiculous.  Cuz it is THEY who are blind....not us who they proclaim the non-believers.  And as long as they believe that that white god is our god?  We will continue to be  a part of massa's plan to destroy black lives...which is what is happening TODAY[can't find that in the can ya?]..  But!

Dr. Yosef Alfredo Antonio ben-Jochannan

Born: December 31, 1918
Died: March 19, 2015

Dr. Ben Jochannan
  • Dr. Ben, One of the Last 'People's Scholars' of Harlem, Joins the Ancestors The activist and educator Yosef ben-Jochannan, a founding scholar of Africana studies, died this week.

  • Dr. Yosef A. A. ben-Jochannan joins the ancestors
After being bed-ridden and placed in a specialized care unit at the Bay Park Nursing Home for the past several weeks, legendary Kemetaphysician Dr. Yosef A.A. ben-Jochannan, a.k.a. Dr. Ben, transitioned on to the ancestral realm Thursday (March 19) at approximately 3:30 a.m. Those close to him said he had stopped eating and drinking several days earlier, as his metabolism slowly churned down.

Professor Yosef Ben Jochannan is an Egyptologist. Having taught at Cornell University for over 15 years, Dr. Ben, as he is affectionately known, has lectured widely on both sides of the Atlantic. His theme - the ancient civilizations of Egypt. His presentations have placed him in great demand by students and community groups, especially those of African descent. Perhaps the high regard he enjoys today stems from his long, unwavering theme that the ancient civilizations along the Nile were African.

We preached that the so-called major western religions were white folk's religions and offered the historically incorrect but universally accepted blond-haired, blue-eyed representation of Jesus Christ as proof that our enemy had become our deity. We quoted Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who said in his book, The Mis-education of the Negro, that the European destruction of African civilization was done under the guise of "saving souls." And we asked the rhetorical question, must one be dehumanized before one's soul is saved? In retrospect, we had allowed someone else to define our reality.

Yoruba priestess, Iyanla Vanzant says your soul is saved when you accept that the spirit of God lives in you. She specifically says, "When you can look at yourself, accept who and what you are and love yourself unconditionally, your soul is saved. Your spirit is empowered."

Dr. Ben's African Origins of the Major "Western Religions" was one of the vehicles I used on my journey through the empowerment of my spirit.

Ben Jochannan

"For more than five decades, Dr. Yosef ben-Jochannan, a master teacher, researcher, author, lecturer, has led what has now become a mass effort to emphasize African contributions to the world." African Origins of the Major "Western Religions: first published in 1970, continues to be one of Dr. Ben's most thought-provoking works. "By highlighting the African influences and roots of these religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam), Dr. Ben reveals an untold history that many would prefer to forget."

His opening sentence sets the tone for the well-researched and documented work.

Dr. Ben says, "I shall show that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are as much African as they are Asian in origin, and in no sense what-so-ever European as the title, "Western Religions" suggests;" Dr. Ben's ultimate goal in this work is to show the definite links between exclusively indigenous traditional African learning systems with these so-called "Western Religions."

The first chapter is entitled: A Source of African Religions.

Dr. Ben shows how the "Mysteries of Egypt" were developed from the ancient religious rites of the indigenous Africans who once occupied the lands around the major great lakes of Central Africa and along the head-waters of the Nile River." And how the Mysteries of Egypt through the Egyptian Book of the Coming Forth by Day (Book of the Dead) gave rise to the so-called revealed religions.

Chapter 2, St. Augustine: African Influence in Christianity (The "Christian Church Fathers").

Dr. Ben says the death of St Augustine in 430 C.E. was the major event in Christendom's history which started the decline of power and control by the North African Church (the "Mother Church") In this chapter he discusses the influence St. Augustine and other indigenous Africans had on the development of the early Christian Church.

Chapter 3, Moses: African Influence on Judaism.

In the introduction, Dr. Ben has warned that, "to say at this time that Moses of the Hebrew (Jewish) religion and peoples, was an indigenous African (Black or Negro), would create a catastrophic consternation among theological racists ... This would not stop them from saying that "Moses was found floating down the Nile River in a bulrush basket." Dr. Ben says many people conveniently forget that the Nile River's source begins in Uganda. In this chapter, Dr. Ben also juxtaposes works from the Egyptian Book of the Dead with the Holy Bible and writings attributed to Solomon with those of Egyptian Pharaohs.

Chapter 4, Bilal: African Influence on Islam.

Hadzart Bilal ibn Rahab know simply as Bilal to most Muslims was a "tall and skinny, frizzled-hair indigenous Black man (African) of Ethiopia, East Africa." Bilal, a former slave in Arabia was the Holy Prophet's most ardent supporter and was responsible for the creation of much of what those of the Islamic faith believe about Heaven and also many of their original prayers and doctrines. Dr. Ben refers to Bilal as another Augustine with respect to his influence on the early development of Islam.

Chapter 5, King, Mohammed, Divine, Matthews and Garvey: Religious New Dimensions. Dr. Ben discusses the influence of Martin Luther King, The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Father Divine, Rabbi Wentworth Matthews, and Marcus Garvey on the religious scene in America. He says that although most of them did not receive the "Good Negro Seal of Approval," from the allegedly white liberal middle-class community of the United States, their influence cannot be denied.

Dr. Ben concludes that the term "Western Religions" "is a misnomer and is as racist as it sounds." "Western Religions" like "Greek Philosophy," cannot escape its indigenous African origin says Dr. Ben. His conclusion leads one back to his introduction where he poses what he calls the "first question:"

How much longer are we to remain outside of the religions we originated in our "Mysteries" in Egypt and other High-Cultures along the Nile?

You will be amazed what you might hear come out of some African's mouths. I just don't get into posting the stuff I've been told by Africans because it would appear I'm bashing Africans. Young Africans seem to be grounded in facts and reality but the older ones it's no telling what might come out of their mouths and it's typically tied to religious and cultural beliefs.

I'm wouldn't be surprised, because I know that one of the major things keeping the Black race oppressed is Black people themselves, and their determination to hold on for dear life, all of the lies, and brainwashing, and social conditioning of Slavery, Colonization, and Western Propaganda.

I do, however, find utterly fascinating, the blind loyalty to the point of getting angry or maybe even violent, with anyone that even tries to inform them a Truth.

But, I guess it's like when many people are asleep otherwise, if you try to wake them up, they get angry, or refuse to wake up, or prefer to continue to just lie there.

Not to mention that a major sign that someone has been brainwashed, is if they are confronted with anything contrary to the brainwashing, they tune it out altogether, or get angry, or they get even sleepier.

Black people gave birth to those "Albino" children. What "white" person has ever given birth to a "black" child? Albinos should have so-called "white" folks crapping in their pants. Seems from us came your crazy asses in some kind of way, shape and form with doggy hair, calling each other "beautiful."

Africans act no different than those vicious lions, hippos, big cats, wild dogs on the continent. Everything kills everything. The animals for food, the Africans; they're just as crazy as their white counterparts; only upon each other, while whites will kill everything breathing for fun, out of anger, or whateverthefuckever. Will splat your ass into piles of blood, bones and shit and keep on trekking.  These days, there sure are a lot of world-wide copy cats.

The whole wide world's occupants have KILLING down to a SCIENCE, while every other word out of their mouths is 'LOVE." See, that's insanity right there, while HATRED's staring everyone in their damn face, big, brassy and bold.
