No shit on my face, Frenchy. You made the point before.
But while you are smart, as amazing as it may seem, you sometimes only 'see' selective parts of what I say in my post.

While it may not be uncommon for a black man to take up with a woman of fewer accomplishments or less education or intellect or whatever the case may be.

There are no absolutes except death and taxes. And both are unpopular.

You can take it two ways: your way, which is I'm sure correct some of the time - he is only with her coz she is white. Or, a less popular concept, if she is not that intelligent whatever, maybe he is with her coz he loves her and intelligence, uni degrees don't factor into it all.

I'm also sure it is also not uncommon for a black man to take up with a woman of superior accomplishments or education or whatever the case may be.

At times, there seems to be an unhealthy obssession on this board with degrees and academic qualifications - that used to be a paternal thing. Now it seems maternal. A uni degree doesn't give you a degree on life experiences.

However, I do give up.

Very weak reply Ms. Frenchy - now you want to play semantics. nono I hope whatever you do for a living doesn't require precision. lol But I guess the dictionary is wrong - words mean whatever you decide they mean. Nothing on my face but a smile - I still like you, even though you still can't bring yourself to apologize. Cool

What in blazing Hell? Confused My last post was directed at ddouble. I've never said it's impossible that a Black man who dates interracially has actually fallen in love with the white lady. I said it is not a rare thing for Black men to leave a Black woman to take up with "white trash." And white trash does not just speak to someone without a university degree. You seemes completely surprised by the very idea that this was a well-known practice (at least here in the United States) and so I offered some clarification. I really don't understand why we are still going round and round about this. We are not on opposite sides of the issue.

A well known practice???? You have got to be kidding me. Sometimes people see what they want to see.

D, are you kidding me? If I tell you that I am "not white," does that immediately mean that I am Black??

You have never heard of that before? You don't know anyone else's who's heard of that before?? Does "well-known" have some kind of unique meaning for you?

See (and read) what they want to see indeed.
If black men stress you out so much, why not broaden your horizons, and date/marry non-black men? I mean, it seems the "good-ones" are unavailable cuz they runnin off with some white girl; and the ones that ARE available flat-out suck (for whatever reason). Ok..so you can't find a "good BLACK man", fine; but can't you at least find just a good man? I mean, some of y'all talk about all the things you have to offer (intelligence, education, good-looks)...you have all the ingredients to bag a man, yet you're still bitchin?!

If men bitched & moaned the way you women did it, we'd be called a bunch of weak, pathetic cry-babies who's probably too ugly to get laid & can't take responsibility for their own good time- in other words it's the man's fault; yet, when many black women voice these type of complaints it's cuz it's a "CRISIS" or " SHORTAGE OF GOOD-MEN"- in other words, it's men fault. HUH?!? Talk about double-standards! Black men don't have any problems dating/marrying outside their ethnic group, so why should you women? As strong, intelligent, educated, attractive women you have certain standards, and alot of men WILL NOT be able to live up to them - SO DISAPPOINTMENT WITH ALOT OF POTENTIAL MATES COMES WITH THE TERRITORY; if you're such a good catch, you have the right to date/marry/fuck whoever you want, right? NEWS-FLASH: Black men have that right, too!

There are countless number of good black men out there, but unfortunately, they are overshadowed by the ass-holes...but then again I don't need to tell you that we black folks have a history of being defined by our worst...surely, I don't have to tell you that? Roll Eyes

Frenchy,

Although it might not be rare and each case is different, with your wording, you make it seem as if it is some sort of epidemic.

I enjoyed reading this thread until it hit a brick wall about 2 pages back.

D, are you kidding me? If I tell you that I am "not white," does that immediately mean that I am Black??

Bad analogy - nice try though - there's no wiggling out of the 'not rare'. From Webster's: RARE - seldom occuring or found, uncommon. NOT (an operator used to negate what follows) RARE means occuring frequently, common. Your wiggle attempt with 'not white' would imply colorful since white is the absence of color.

Every time you say 'well known' or 'we all know at least one person' you are making an implication of frequency - you're attempting to build the case that the phenomenon occurs often enough that everyone should be familiar with it. This thread isn't the place since it's supposed to celebrate Good Black Men but I would love to see your full list of complaints against Black men (and men in general). I like getting to root causes - there's a recurring theme with you regarding gender dynamics.

I think I am actually losing brain cells with this discussion. It's a very simple concept and one I explained to you in my initial response. Things are not always polar opposites in order to be different from each other. So your insistence on looking up a list of antonyms and then telling me what I mean to say with my own words is ridiculous, ineffective, and most of all, inaccurate. If you don't see what I am talking about or this is not making any sense to you, that's unfortunate; however, I don't know another way to phrase it or present it and I don't care to. Put down the thesaurus, pick UP the bifocals, and re-read all that I've said. ohsnap

I am not making an implication about frequency. I am specifically speaking to knowledge. I am specifically saying that this is not a foreign concept to most of us. I am specifically and explicitly saying that most of us have heard of this and are not surprised by someone speaking about it. Most of us would not and do not clutch our proverbial pearls when the topic of Black men with "white trash" is brought up. We've got the back story on that. It's not new to us. THAT is what I have said.

No, choose a stronger prescription for those glasses. I said just what I intended to express. You are the one hunting down dictionaries trying to find the opposite of what I said and then running back to this thread to "enlighten" me. upset

Is that 'knowledge' you're referring to accurate? Myths & urban legends are common knowledge - and they are often found to be FALSE! I and others allege that you are touting an urban myth.

That is a different topic and one I have not commented on at any point in this thread. I'm not "touting" anything in this thread. Don't muddy the issue of my specific comments. It sounds like you want to direct that comment to Annie. Like I said, I don't think folks are actually reading what the Hell it is that *I* am writing.

Qty226, I'm not trying to bite anybody's head off. That remark was directed to the sistas who are simply fed-up with black men; the only reason alot of you are upset is because black men don't love & appreciate you the way you would like to be loved & appreciated (I know..."no shit Sherlock"). I'm not saying abondon ALL black men, but if alot of the black men you encounter are not giving you what you want, why set yourself up to be dissapointed over & over & over again? There ARE other flavors out there - broaden your horizons; maybe if you give some of them a chance you might find someone who will give you the love & appreciation you feel you deserve- as oppose to the pain & misery alot of brothers are causing you. Don't you owe it to yourself to be happy? If any of this sounds naive, stupid or if I'm missing something- shit, let me know. It's just that these brothers y'all talkin about ain't waitin on you, so why you waitin' on them?
