Re: Julian Bond, former NAACP chairman, hopes activists of today learn civil rights history

It would be wonderful if Black people realized that there was non-violent face to the Civil Rights movement as well as a self-defense/armed side also. The way that the white media has spun as if there was some sort of opposing view between the two and that the non-violent philosophy is far superior. When in fact they worked hand in hand for what they felt would be black liberation and to get white people off our backs.

Sign the Card Julian Bond, Rest in Power Sign the card to the Bond family to express your condolences. He was a revolutionary, a civil rights icon, a pioneer, a poet and a national treasure. Julian Bond, who was a founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and a chairman of the NAACP, passed away at his home in Florida on Saturday, August 15. President Obama is going to have to dig down deep to top what his wife just did. Probably in the history of American first ladies speeches and first ladies around the world, arguably one of the best ever if not the best. In the Obama household, Michelle has bragging rights...and she knows it. And Republicans heads are exploding everywhere. And to me it seemed like the First Lady pretty much picked apart Ann Romney's speech ... anecdote by anecdote ... and CRUSHED Ann like a GRAPE ... when it came to telling the more compelling, more thorough, more truthful story about the virtues of their respective husbands and the life they "built" together!! While Ann Romney skirted around details .... Michelle went in deep and was able to give real life comparisons of what it means to "struggle to make ends meet" .. because she and the...

I really do not want a Black Leader... All a Black leader is some charismatic figure that black folks are gonna follow...until he or she die and then go back to doing whatever the fuck black folks were doing before they came. The USA did not end with George Washington or Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin. Black folks gonna have to learn the art and science of institutionalization and codification. Most people that have leaders; the leaders don't do a damn thing but lead them straight to the grave. Leaders don't do anything but garner lots of wealth for themselves. Most leaders are millionaires. Folks poor as church mice, eating out of dumpsters and scrapping for water have leaders. Where ISIS's is blowing up stuff, decapitating folks, those countries have leaders. Israel has a leader. Palestine has a leader. The 54 (however many) African countries have leaders. Pastors are leaders.

African Americans and the ENTIRE Black Race has got to somehow use the internet and social media come together under one or a few specific umbrellas, i.e., by community, by city, by state, by region, by country, by continent, and globally.

We've just had a population [that outnumbers us] stifling, undermining, corrupting, destroying, and trying to block our every attempt at socio-economic independence, freedom, justice and pursuit of happiness, for centuries.

There are a few EVERYWHERE. They just can't admit their wayward/consensual fornication has made relatives out of the very race of people they detest to the point of making them puke and kill.
