I saw this movie, and it really was a pretty good movie. Of course it did not capture the totality of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade within a two hour span of time, but it did touch on some truths about the horrors, sadism, brutality, heartbreak of slavery in America. The movie also, touched on the very subject that ALL American historians try to ignore, whitewash, and propagandize out of the history of slavery, and that is the sexual rape, brutalization, and trafficking of African women for...

I probably WON'T see the movies because of its violent content...however, I do appreciate your assessment Sista Sunnubian. I lost respect for Spike when he FILMED his OWN sister doing a sex scene. I found that incestous. Spike is just JEALOUS that he isn't getting good films...but when he did "the girl gotta have it" he set in stone PAYBACK in the future. Now that it's here....HANDLE IT!!! You did it to yourself when you disrespected sistas when producing this film. So suck it up and move...

Slavery's not over. The same atrocities that happened during slavery happens in the Prison Industrial Complex. Rape, torture, executions, etc., etc. We complain about these "white" people day-after-day-after-day. Yet, here we are calling ourselves "Americans". Watch a couple hours of Tru-TV and ask yourselves, "Is this what I want to be?" Had slavery begun in Japan or China, would we be calling ourselves African-Japanese or African-Chinese? Please, the European is mental and we're mental.

I'm in agreement with Dick Gregory regarding Spike Lee, of all people to have the nerve to criticize what is "disrespectful to his (our) ancestors". In my opinion, Spike Lee has only made three movies that were not insulting to African Americans, and that was Malcolm X and Miracle at St. Anna, and Mo' Better Blues, (I'm not counting his documentaries in the comparison).

The majority of movies produced and directed by blacks does nothing but disrespect and insult blacks. That premise is busted. So why is Spike Lee the lone villain? Did Spike say something unfavorable about ‘the lord and Savior’ in the White House? It's disappointing to see Dick Gregory go off on a unsubstantiated tirade like this. And it’s even more disturbing to see how easily black people can be manipulated over fictional shit. Django is a freaking movie. A remake. The original movie...

I saw the movie about two weeks ago and I must say, it lived up to the Quentin Tarantino brand; excessive graphic violence, luridly sadistic with individuals driven by the need to inflict extreme violence and death on their victims and his person obsession with the "N" word. This is the expected under laying bedrock of his movies (e.g., Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, et al). The film is in two parts: the first half is a mock Western; the second is a...

Clearly there are people in academia who have read SRBJ vol 2 and possibly read or even reread vol 1. Its strangely interesting to see more and more work done in the academy that treats subjects in both vols as uncredited inspirations for inquiry. Perhaps people should again reconsider why the works of Karl Marx is considered (albeit less so today) off limits to read or discuss openly.

It's all because the invaders changed the relationship between the African man and the African woman. Prior to this intrusion, Africa for the most part was a matriarchal philosophical non tribal social system which included the worship of a goddess and an equal gender role dynamic concept. Once that relationship was destroyed....[called the sodomization of African culture]. where the African man willful or not continued the mistreatment of his women and children, Africa has remained at least...
