God’s Racket: Why It’s High Time to Shut Down the Vatican Bank March 3, 2013 | Filed under: Featured , Headlines | Posted by: Editorial_Staff The Vatican takes in billions in donations and earnings yearly AFRICANGLOBE – It’s a place where angels fear to tread; where criminals, frauds and mysterious corpses turn up as regularly as rats in the metro. The Institute for Works of Religion, commonly known as the Vatican bank, was set up in 1942 by Pope Pius XII to manage the vast Vatican finances.

Reference: The bill would mean the loss of billions of dollars in business to student lending giant Sallie Mae as well as large financial institutions such as Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America. Doesn't that just give you the warm-fuzzies? Now I think the next thing to do should be the plan previously suggested by the President for people to take their money OUT of the big banks and start financially supporting the community banks ... en masse!! Then we'll see if they're...

Banks to lose billions in student loan revamp

WASHINGTON - Banks and other private lenders are about to lose a $70 billion-a-year student loan business , part of a massive overhaul of college assistance programs that has received an unexpected boost from President Barack Obama's health care success. Industry lobbyists have watched helplessly as Democrats and the Obama administration appear on the verge of shifting student lending from private banks to the federal government. Under the measure, private banks would no longer get fees from...

Ron Banks, whose silky falsetto helped give the Dramatics one of the most enduring careers in R&B, has died at home in Detroit. He was 58. Banks died at about noon today, possibly of a massive heart attack, said Billy Wilson, president of the Motown Alumni Association. The Northern High School graduate was the founder of the Detroit vocal group, which made a name in the mid-'60s and went on to play for avid audiences around the country. Aside from a short break in the mid-1980s, the...

That IS a shame!! I would really like to know, though ... exactly WHO is paying this money to Chase??? The lady being interviewed indicated that Chase makes money off the 'swipe' of her card ... as in perhaps 'debit fees' ... which would be paid by the store/merchant. However, the reporter stated that they are paid "per customer" - either for maintaining the accounts or the issuance of the cards - which sounds like the State (as the manager of the food stamp program, itself!) would be liable...

Clearly there are people in academia who have read SRBJ vol 2 and possibly read or even reread vol 1. Its strangely interesting to see more and more work done in the academy that treats subjects in both vols as uncredited inspirations for inquiry. Perhaps people should again reconsider why the works of Karl Marx is considered (albeit less so today) off limits to read or discuss openly.

I always THOUGH you couldn't lock a person up just cuz they owe money. Except for taxes, collection agencies are breaking the law when they say folks can go to jail if fees are not paid. I saw a show on cable where the collection rep was telling this woman that if she didn't pay, the sheriff will come to her house and tell her to jail. But that was a lie-a scare tactic to get money....but! They are NOT suppose to do that. And I don't know about how the laws work in rural areas, I just know...

I know that it used to be that a person could not be locked up for a debt owed, but now? These "States" have been quietly making their own laws, many of which are unconstitutional, so it now may depend on exactly which state you happen to live in as to whether or not a creditor can have you locked up. The same with wage garnishment. Wage garnishment was made unlawful, now I see, that it is no longer against the law for creditors to garnish people wages.

A stimulus for the middle class July 13, 2012 Last Friday’s disappointing employment number — 88,000 new jobs created in June — is the latest reminder that the economy continues to struggle, and that the 13 million workers still unemployed will remain that way for the foreseeable future. But while Congress refuses to enact any new stimulus spending, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has already responded to the slowing economic growth with the announcement of an additional $267 billion...

And how much money do we give the Banks in subsidies and how much did we spend in taxpayer bailouts in 2008 and 2009 with no strings attached? And the Banks still have the nerve to charge outrageous fees or do what they want to your bank account by changing terms when they feel like it??!! If Ray Ray and Pookie and 'nem can get 20 years for slinging rock on the block, the corporate persons (as deemed by the Supreme Court) need to face serious jail time.
