Re: The Word ["Amen"]

Former Member ·
HonestBrother, you have every right to your opinion about this being pointless but to others, it's of ultimate importance. You say the word "Amen" is possibly not of Egyptian origin. Like I said, I'm a man of facts. Just show me when and where it was used before Egypt and I'll accept it. I couldn't begin to give you every scripture in the bible that pays homage to Egyptian Deities because there are so many but I could probably give you a good 20 off the top of the dome, if you would like.

Peace.... The arabs were never given enough understanding to corrupt what was left in their care. The Holy Qur'an Sharrief is a revelation which was never fully unraveled by the arab world of muslims. The Book is what I am speaking of. Islam not only travelled through the arab world, it was also emanated through the vessel of the African Moor. The Moors were able to maintain their own indigenous culture and demonstrate the beauty which results from the application of the principles within...

It is evem easier to corrupt things when you don't understand them, just as the Europeans did with X-tianity. So the indigenous culture of Africans is different from that taught in the Qur'an? That is somewhat of a contradiction(considering your premise). The Moors were Arabized Africans. In Senegal it is similar. The Islam that is practiced their is very Africanized(or from your point of view, re-Africanized), but it still has the underlying deification of Arab culture that is expected. I...

Cholly, who made the first guitar by adding a 5th string to the African lute? Ziryab, a Moor. Bluegrass is played with a banjo and in the banjo style. And furthermore, heavy metal and grunge were born from rock and roll, which as you know originally started as our music, the blues. I think that the field of study is called musical etymology, don't quote me on that! Don't we absolutely ROCK!!! Our creativity, intellect and minds are limitless!

Yeah, but you're right too, Cholly!! Hip Hop did not advance the Black music genre forward. Not one iota. Their 'creativity' was mostly about copycatting what was already there AND each other on top of that. I hope for a return to real musical and vocal TALENT (singing and the composing of music). If that puts the hip hop artists out of a job (which it would) well then ... so be it!

There's nothing wrong with that. And initially most rap songs used the drum machine to create beats and keyboards to create the music for a rap song. Rap/Hip-Hop also politicized the post Civil Rights generation and brought their issues to the forefront. Shame on you ER for sayin' that hip hop...

Thanks for getting back to me on our discussion. You are correct on the pope point and in fact it was Pope Pius II who was one of the early supporters of the slave trade. It is a fact that Pope Pius II only denounced slavery for those slaves that were successfully converted to Christianity. The fact that there were greedy, opportunist, Black Africans that participated in the slave trade is not in dispute. My only point was that in the beginning of the slave trade between Black Africans,...

Moors and Arabs by Yvonne Clark When the Romans entered West Africa in 46 B.C., they saw Africans and called them Maures, from the Greek adjective Mauros, meaning dark or black. It is from Mauros and the Latin term Marues that the word Moor is derived. Since the inhabitants of North Africa were black, the Romans and later the Europeans called them Moors. It is no coincidence that the land inhabited by the Moors was called Mauritania and Morocco, meaning "Land of the Blacks." In the beginning...
