Banks to lose billions in student loan revamp

Cholly ·
WASHINGTON - Banks and other private lenders are about to lose a $70 billion-a-year student loan business , part of a massive overhaul of college assistance programs that has received an unexpected boost from President Barack Obama's health care success. Industry lobbyists have watched helplessly as Democrats and the Obama administration appear on the verge of shifting student lending from private banks to the federal government. Under the measure, private banks would no longer get fees from...

Reference: The bill would mean the loss of billions of dollars in business to student lending giant Sallie Mae as well as large financial institutions such as Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America. Doesn't that just give you the warm-fuzzies? Now I think the next thing to do should be the plan previously suggested by the President for people to take their money OUT of the big banks and start financially supporting the community banks ... en masse!! Then we'll see if they're...

Guess What Our Government Is Doing With 600 Billion Dollars Posted on March 14, 2012 by Jeb Share this now! Failing schools. Crumbling infrastructure. Increasing poverty. Yet we still spend hundreds of billions on our bloated military budget. It’s time to reallocate spending to what really counts. Found on Being Liberal’s Facebook page . Operation Freedom Gone Wrong Update : On September 25, President Obama announced an Executive Order to crack down on government contractors that have been accused of human trafficking. The executive order is a major step toward preventing human trafficking by contractors, but it doesn’t go far enough. The End Trafficking in Government Contracting Act would do more to hold contractors accountable for human rights abuses - sign the petition and urge Congress to pass the bill now. --- U.S.

I remember back in the day...maybe the early mid sixties....most bonefide junkies were BLACK. And was totally ignored by the government in terms of an addiction. But. Again massa has a history of dopeing his enemy. He tried to do that in the Opium Wars in China. Empires fell because of this addiction and Asian countries like China knew it as why China closed their doors for a long long long time. Massa is the original pusher man but! I often forget that ALL Black people did not grow up in a town/city that was only about 12% Black, and even less a percentage than that decades ago. But, there really always has been far more White drug addicts in America than Black[you know, like Welfare recipients]. And maybe there were not many tv shows, news reports or movies about "Black junkies" in the '60s, but there were plenty during the seventies, especially with the "Black Exploitation" Noir. I totally agree. As why it is so very important to share stories...cuz there is a geographic and timeline distinctions that can make a huge difference in terms of experiences. Cuz with how some songs use to get to Cali....by the time it got to us the songs had already been airing on radio stations on the other side of the country for months. Social media changed that. Now when songs come out it is heard the same time across the nation. So it's the same thang in this case. And you're right...

Thank you Sista appreciate the grace. Yeah I have given Obama a lot of benefit of the doubt the first 2 years when he had majority power in both houses. The reason he lost the House in 2010 was because he turn out to be an establishment servant like no other in history and it demoralized the liberal base. I still voted in 2010 and knew in my heart he was not what he claim to be. I kinda think he wanted to lose the House so it would be cover for his following establishment policies.
