Why do people think that where a kid sits has anything to do with what they learn....if you teach a kid learning principles correctly, they could go to school with green children and be okay. The lack of resources is the only issue that really makes a difference. A good teacher and a headstart during the developmental years (1-7) is all a kid needs to succeed academically. A kid needs to be shown how to perform regardless of where they are located and not believe that they can only learn...

I don't know what the exact wording is in the collective bargaining agreement, but there has to be something done about loopholes in Contracts whereby a player can just refuse to play unless he got more money. In T.O.'s case he had just signed his contract a year or so earlier. When I was doing my counseling training years ago, the numbers that we had showed that AA youth hardly ever committed suicide, that this was definitely more of a white thing. The conventional wisdom was that if a black youth died of non-natural causes or accident, it was most likely due to black youth killing one another. I have to agree with Mr Chester. Why wouldn't marching be valid for today? There were no black teachers at my highschool, and a little lady walked outside the school everyday in protest for nearly the entire semester. Every morning she would show up with a sign questioning the schools blatant lack of black teachers. By the next semester we had 2 black teachers. One was an art teacher, and one was a coach. What she did ALONE was very powerful!

A couple of things: 1 - That's a big assumption that these people are all alcoholics. I'm not an alcoholic and I've certainyl driven at least twice under the influence. I very well could've had 2 or 3 DUIs. 2 - Are you running a one-man AA program or addressing drunk driving? Once again, the problem is the driving, not the drinking. Even if they are alcoholics, it is not YOUR place (and certainly not the government's place) to get into people's lives and decide you are going to make them...

I was raised in a large city, and I guess I would take offense if a southerner assumed that I lacked morals simply because I don't go around cheesing at everyone in sight. I think those from the south should accept that customs will and do change from one location to the next. In the city, especially cities that are wrought with crime, going around smiling and acting silly is a sign of vulnerability. You put yourself at risk when people intending to do you harm suspects that you are "nice"...
